Butterfly Dice - Secret World Legends Fan-fiction
Chapter One
It wasn’t the worst assignment. Sure there was fog and rain and like a thousand different types of wildlife trying to kill her but it wasn’t the worst assignment. Of course, she could have been lounging back at her apartment in Seoul cuddling with her boyfriend and reading the latest LIGO results. The thick american drawl of Deputy Andy brought Cazna out of her internal efforts to brighten the situation. She stared at him, her face deadpan, as he ranted on about some kittens being drowned by his dad. Clearly they don’t prize intelligence down here in the sticks.

The Butterfly Dice - Installment Two
Dear Daughter,
The Dragon may seem questionable at times, and you will wonder whether you are working for the side of good or evil. It is part of their plan, to make you doubt, and you will follow what they have predicted you will do.
When the kingsmouth incident first happened I was selected to be the agent of chaos for them. I was given no instructions just to add in more chaos for their calculations. When I finally got to the town the people were being besieged by waking horrors, horrors I suspect you have seen or at least have an idea of. I wanted to help them. I’d like to think I did.
However the dreams that plague you also rested on my mind. My sleep was never as restful as it needed to be, the unanswered questions constantly plaguing my mind disrupting my thoughts. The image of the moon blown through was branded on the underside of my eyelids. That strange alien gravel pushing against my back seemed ever present and real, I’m not entirely sure it wasn’t.
When I begun this letter I was talking about how you’ll do what the Dragon predict you will. My time in Kingsmouth and on Solomon isle as a whole confirmed that for me without a doubt. The first week I spent there was purely helping the survivors fortify and stockpile resources, the pain of willingly giving up everything I had was too fresh for me to distance myself from them. Not mention that they would willingly give me supplies and place to sleep for the night if I needed it.
The second week was spent trying to work out what the hell had happened there and whether there was anything we could do to stop it… But I know that you’re aware of what happened when I left. During my time on that island I discovered things that should have remained buried and people that refused to stay in their graves.
Sooo we have reached the glorious month of relaunch. It has finally arrived and I am so beyond ready to start the stories of Drada and Cazna anew.
So to commemorate this wonderful event I’ll be doing some character knowledge stuff. Each one will be accompanied by a picture of some kind and will reveal character information that can be used for role-playing (providing it’s not meta).
We’ll start of with an obvious one - What was a turning point in your characters life?
Drada - The turning point in Drada’s life probably came after she completed her first sensitive translation of an arcane text. It was for a spell that induced plague in victims of the casters choosing. Knowing that mages (or even people) in past had been so willing to use their gifts for evil made her stomach turn, from that day forward she promised to never become someone who hurts others without sufficient reason.
Cazna - Cazna’s turning point happened gradually leading up to her first graduation from Uni. The ever increasing pressure from her parents and twin to fulfill a blood oath that was taken centuries before her birth drove her to resentment and hatred. When it reached breaking point she silently ran to Seoul, enrolling in a second degree (this time studying theoretical physics). When her parents finally tracked her down she’d already received her gift from Gaia and enlisted with the Dragon.
The Butterfly Dice - Installment One
Dear Daughter,
I have realised that my position within this world may have ripples that even the Dragon can not predict. Most of your life has been spent living with one parent that ages slowly and one who disappears for months at a time, I think that it is time I informed you of my history and by doing so I hope it eases those ripples into a drop of water in the ocean.
Firstly you should know that I am not who you think I am. While my name is Cazna, Jarvi was not my original surname. It was Sheild-Sworn. The same name as the ancient scandinavian family I forced you to study, the family that sold it’s blood to the Templars. I was one of two heirs to the legacy of that family. The other heir was my twin; Drada. She was more of a woman then I could ever hope to be. I had forsake her because I could not see beyond the chaos that bound my hands.
I could not see past the burden of the blood debt owed for someone else's past sins, it began to suffocate me and twist me against the forced appearance of unity. During high school I discovered chaos magic. Although discouraged by my teachers and peers I became obsessed with perfecting it; foolishly hoping that it would open a way to change the very reality I lived in. It grew into my obsession. As I struggled to understand the innermost workings of my magic I became aware of it’s history, it’s discovery and the waves of quiet terror the Dragon had used it to create.
The Dragon seduced me before I had even manifested my anima powers. It had mystery and freedom and chaos. However the Templar's (much like the Illuminati) were ignorant about the location of the Dragon so they remained beyond the tormented reality of my situation.
So this is the new and improved Drada! There aren’t many differences but I’ll list them anyway -
1) Her hair is now a more natural dark red/ginger then the bright orange of before.
2) The addition of the three pretty narly looking scars located on her right cheek, they do have a story but you’ll have to poke me in game to find out what it is.
3) Grey eyes, you’ll have to excuse the fact it’s not quite accurate but it’s the closest I could get.
And next up is the new and somewhat improved Cazna! She does have a few changes and I’m playing her as if she’d done this all before anyway -
1) New hair cut and hair color, it’s now pink and blue instead of blue and blue.
2) Funky new chaos focus inspired tattoo around both of her eyes, this is now cannon and was something she picked up in between the two games.
3) Freckles, now as she should have been.
4) Grey eyes, for the same reason as above.
5) Due to the fact that you cannot currently (and will never be able to) wield quarter staffs in this game you’ll have to imagine it.
