Moonlight (2007) turns 20 next year (2027)
😭😭😭😭
Proper Frienemies
So I like to play around and crossover characters.
I would like to present two characters that are sassy, miserable monsters, in their own right.
First we have Mick St. John (Moonlight 2007).
He is a vampire turned in 1952. He currently works as a private investigator in Los Angeles. His whole thing is that he wants to help humans as best he can in order to make up for the monster he is by nature. He is not into drinking fresh blood and typically drinks donated blood.
And then we have Peter Hale (Teen Wolf 2011).
He is a born werewolf. Dude oscillates between villain and anti-hero. It sounds ridiculous but for him it works. It's almost a case by case basis (except for Stiles, but no one really understands that). He loves being a werewolf and his whole thing is about gaining knowledge and power.
Their interactions would be a masterclass in snark and cynicism. Peter's witty and sarcastic quips would clash with Mick's world-weary, noir-style voiceovers. Peter would make digs at Mick's self-imposed morality, while Mick would make withering observations about Peter's lack of a moral compass.
They would totally tick each other off enough to vamp/wolf out.
Both characters hold a cynical view of the world due to their long lives and traumatic pasts. They would find common ground in the belief that "the good guys" are often naive, and taking the moral high ground is not always effective.
Imagine them working together for some reason.
As a private detective with decades of experience, Mick's strengths lie in human-level detective work, observation, and accessing information through legal and vampire contacts. His vampiric senses, particularly his ability to track scents and glean details from the past through blood, would be invaluable for building a case.
Peter is a cunning and highly intelligent manipulator who uses his supernatural knowledge and combat prowess to achieve his goals. He would employ his connections to the broader supernatural community for information and use his predatory skills to deal with targets who cannot be handled through Mick's more ethical methods.
Peter would prefer a swift and ruthless approach, potentially using brute force or blackmail to get results. Mick would stick to his principles, favoring a clean and ethical solution. This difference would inevitably cause friction and arguments.
They might discover a shared emotional connection, such as Peter's protectiveness of his family and Mick's desire to protect the innocent. This could be the foundation for a grudging respect, showing that even with vastly different methods, they are both capable of defending others.
Well, I just had to get that out there. What do you think?
Beth Turner & Maureen 'Mo' Williams (Moonlight 1x09 Fleur De Lis) || Sophia Myles & Tami Roman
Mick St. John & Beth Turner || Moonlight 1x06
Mick: "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves."
Josef: ...
Josef: What a stupid fucking quote.
Josef: I'm killing way more than two people, idiot.
Lestat would so try to lure Mick into his world of excess and celebrity, possibly offering him a place in his entourage.
Mick would probably reject this immediately.
Lestat would likely dismiss Mick as a "sentimental fool," while Mick would see Lestat as a "monster."
What's wild is that not only are they both performers, but were targeted and turned for being such.
Even though Louis was disappeared from the QotD film, Lestat would be well acquainted with the "Woe is me" style of being a vampire and would probably only tolerate it but for so long.
All that being said, they would probably have a pretty fun week before Mick calls it quits and Lestat flitters off to wherever.
I also like to have my name as my screen saver.
Ideas of a Moonlight rewrite, like spacing out episodes and adding things here and there. Also cause I like challenging myself, this is more like if I had to keep most (if not all) of the original 16 episodes in season one but I can add things type of deal. Already did part one/season one. This is part two season two. Turning into a part 3 lol
Season Two:
Episode One: Takes place a couple weeks after season one, Beth is trying to get Josh’s funeral and his affairs in order. Maybe now with a clearer mind Beth apologizes to Mick for begging him to turn Josh and she breaks down crying and thinks he hates her now or something. She also apologies for her words after Josh died. Mick comforts her and tells her that he forgives her and maybe he helps her with everything.
Maybe in the background we see Coraline is a vampire again and she is watching the two and then we have Josh’s funeral
Episode Two: Can be the original "The Mortal Cure" episode (excluding the whole Josh funeral scene). Beth doesn’t find out Mick is human yet. He’s giving her the space she asked for and he’s still dealing with being beaten up by Lance
Episode Three: Beth is burying herself in work and Mick is giving her the space she asked for, she’s still trying to process Josh’s death and her and Mick’s past. Mick is trying to navigate being human again. Maybe he gets a case and we see him try and figure out how to be a P.I without his “special abilities”
Episode Four: Beth and Mick run into each other by accident; both on a case. Beth is amazed and happy for Mick. They discuss what happened with Coraline and whatnot and talk about their desires to mend their relationship
Episode Five: Mick and Beth have their little beach date (like how “Fated To Pretend” opened ) and talk about how they proceed from here, like what each wants from the other. Maybe a murder happens and a vampire is the culprit and Mick tries to investigate but Beth has to remind him that he’s human again and can’t be going after a vampire. So he has to let the cleaners handle it?
Episode Six: Mick and Beth have another date and the two are slowly moving forward and past all the issues of the last 23 years. The two team up for a case. Mick is still trying to get the hang of being human again
Episode seven:Mick and Beth are heating up but don’t seal the deal (as Josef puts it lol) yet. They’re still trying to get past their respective trauma’s but it’s clear despite all that they love each other (even if they don’t exactly know it themselves yet). They happen to have connected cases again
Episode Eight: This will be the “Click” episode, obviously removing the Mick being a vampire aspect, hear me out first! Mick is human and he loves it and is wanting to get back out into the world.
So he takes this case for the actress Tierney but then she dies. So he starts to think that this is his fault because if he were a vampire, he would’ve been able to stop this, and Beth has to remind him that it’s not his fault.
Later they go to the little Bistro date like plan. Someone in the distance is taking a picture of them and it’s that creepy little paparazzi freak, who sadly gets to live another day
Episode Nine: Mick is still dealing with Tierney’s death and still blames himself but Josef is able to talk some sense into him. Beth and Mick work a case together, Mick is enjoying his mortality and is getting the hang of being a normal P.I without his vampire abilities. Beth’s hurt from Mick lying and stalking her, is slowly dissipating and Mick is slowly not thinking of Coraline as much
Episode Ten: Mick and Beth are working a case together and are getting cozy. They’re navigating the strangeness of their situation/relationship but are getting more comfortable with the fact (or as much as one can get I suppose)
Episode Eleven: Maybe another celebrity client comes to Mick for help and he gets to redeem himself (so to speak. Obviously Tierney’s death isn’t his fault but he feels like it is and this might help alleviate that guilt a bit). Creepy paparazzi guy unfortunately makes a reappearance
Episode Twelve: Mid season finale: the "Fated To Pretend" episode and I think it can go down similarly enough to how it went first time around
Episode Thirteen: Mick is a vampire again and is finding it harder to transition this time than the last time. Especially since he and Beth were finally getting somewhere in their relationship.
Creepy Paparazzi dude makes a return and some sort of incident happens and Mick is hit by a car. Of course witnessed by our least favorite Paparazzi (though in reality who likes them? lol) . He finally gets his comeuppance and Also Josef and Beth still plot to kill him.
Ben still gets the pictures of the hit and run like before. However the reason why he starts his file on Mick this time is because GASP he got Josh‘s office when he died and found Josh‘s little file on Mick. It was like hidden in a hidden bottom of the desk or in an air vent or something
Episode fourteen: In a one step forward, two steps back type of situation. Mick and Beth are back to where they started and they’re trying to figure out where they go from here. Especially since Mick kissed Beth in the last episode.
Episode fifteen: Beth is trying to find a new job and oh no “The Legion” kidnaps her and are basically calling her a traitor. Maybe they suggest Josh (or her dad or family) was (were) one of them.
Mick and Co rescue her, they defeat this group but apparently there’s other groups, Logan’s tasked with going through all their computers (this is going to come back up in a later episode just don’t know when)
Episode Sixteen: Carl makes a return after a leave of absence after Josh’s death. A murderer from his past has returned and turns out it’s a vampire. Mick and Beth try and work around Carl while he’s hunting down the killer.
This a maybe thing, Carl knows about vampires and he’s a freshie himself and it’s like a turn on for him or something? And maybe Mick can have an ally in the police department. I think it’d also be funnier if the vampire in question he’s with is like one of the cleaners little minions (like one of the flamethrower ladies from Sonata)
Episode Seventeen: Beth gets a new job and it’s more than she bargained for and has to navigate it. maybe some more shenanigans from the Legion? Maybe? I feel like they need up their ante in order for them to be seen as an actual threat
Episode Eighteen: Beth is still struggling with what happened with “the legion” and ordering the creepy paparazzi guy’s death. Especially since the police come to her as he called her last and question what the call was about. I have this coming about due to an anonymous call from “the legion”
Beth semi lies and says that he was just harassing her because of whatever made up lie she thinks of on the spot (she’s just trying to take the shift off Mick). Though since Carl knows the truth now, he just assumes that it’s vampire related and more or less sort of lets the case fall through the cracks.
Episode nineteen: technically 3 parter. (Part one 01x02, part two 02x19 and ends with pt. three 02x20) a child goes missing and Mick and Beth are on the job. Beth because she works for the police department or the D.A’s office now and Mick because Ben asked him to come along and help due to his “unique perspective” (Ben’s words). Killer gets away and it wraps up with episode 20
Episode Twenty: The "What's Left Behind" episode and can stay the same but it’s revealed that the killer from Season One Episode Two is the culprit and is also the man from last episode and Mick is determined not to let this man go a second time. It’s still revealed he’s not the father of Robert.
Episode Twenty One: Mick and Beth are slowly getting back on track while they’re investigating Mick’s client Spouse and it’s something involving cheating.
Episode Twenty Two: Logan had decrypted the files that The Cleaners and Mick got. He finds a list of names but it’s for their members and uh oh Josh’s name is on there (just crossed off meaning he’s dead) but Logan doesn’t think too much of it. Maybe Josh and Beth are half siblings and have different dads thus different last names. Mick and Beth are investigating the people on the list that Logan gives them
Episode Twenty Three: A vampire/human romance takes a turn for the worst and it starts poking holes in Beth’s fantasy and makes her start to question things, which will come to a head when the shit with the season two finale takes place.
Episode Twenty Four: Season finale: the “Sonata” episode relatively untouched. BUT Mick and Beth don’t get back together, they still break up like before but don’t make up immediately after. However the list still gets out to Ben and that’s how the season ends.
ALSO Beth and Simone still talk BUT Beth doesn’t go to Mick after like before just starts contemplating things.
Guess this is turning into a three parter, lol will be working on that soon once I get ideas for it
