paring: cc!wilbur soot x fem!cc!reader (featuring cc!tommy and cc!tubbo)
summary: you and wilbur are in a private relationship and one day while you’re streaming chat recognizes the sweater you’re wearing.
authors note: I wrote this a while back when I was coming back into writing. I'm sorry if its not as good as my usual stuff. the reader is a small streamer but she's close with all the britsh ccs, (bc she lives in the uk) she and wilbur are dating and no one knows not even their friends! but some of them do suspect it! I thought it was cute not sure if it's been done before and I really enjoyed writing it!!
warnings: secret relationship, anxiety attack, fluff, not proofread, and unedited!
It was supposed to be a relaxed stream, chatting and hanging out before Wilbur got home. That’s what it started as. You logged onto Twitch around 7:40 or so, after hanging out with Tommy and the gang for the day.
Wilbur had gone to his office. He told you to head off without him and said he would be home in an hour or two after he finished editing. That was fine with you. You didn’t mind when he worked late since you didn’t go to bed until around midnight.
No one knew you and Wilbur were together. Like together, together. They thought you were close friends. Not even your friends knew you and sometimes hanging out with them was hard because you wanted to be all
It's not that you were embarrassed by each other. You wanted your privacy and time together to be yours and yours alone. You knew everyone in the group could be eccentric about romantic relationships. You knew deep down they would be happy for you but this was something you and Wilbur agreed to keep secret. For a while at least.
Only a few times have you let it slip when you were out with friends. Everyone knew you two were close so it wasn't that odd to see you being close.
Phill was the only one who knew what was going on. Because once he had caught Wilbur taking your hand in his while you walked side by side. You both completely forgot he was walking right behind you. Separating your hand from Wilbur's when Phill was giving you a knowing glance out of the corner of your eye. Wilbur felt you let go of his hand and he turned to you pouting.
Wilbur got the message completely, seeing Phil smirk back at him. Then, to make matters worse Tommy caught on to Phill being suspicious about something all day. Hence began the young blonde bugging him about what he was all smirking about all day.
Then there were times when you both streamed together. Whether it be at your house or even playing on the SMP, sometimes things would slip out on both your faults.
Like you’ll flirt with each other, or he’ll call you love, or darling. Small things that not everyone can catch onto. Everyone thinks you’re roleplaying anyways but you both know it's not. If you’re on stream you’ll hold your hands under the desk out of view of the webcam. Wilbur would caress your knuckles with his thumb, letting you know he was there. Or you’ll lay your heads on each other’s shoulders during late-night streams when you’re so tired. Little things like that, and of course chat goes nuts for it.
They think it’s adorable how close you guys are. You love it too. , some people ship you guys but you ignore it, not caring about what they think. It wasn’t anyone's business.
So here you were taking a sip of water from your bottle and as you read the chat a donation came up and it made you perk up.
“Alyssa thank you for the four months!” you read off the donation with a smile. It made you happy that people wanted to stick around with your channel and found it a safe community to fall back on. That was what you wished for.
Your chat was going slow as usual since only about 2,000 or so people were watching. You were comfortable in your little corner.
Your eyes skimmed through the incoming text on your monitor. You froze when you saw a particular statement about your attire.
User: Wait is that Wilbur's sweater?!
You didn’t dare say anything as you tried to shake it off but the comments kept coming in after that faster than before. Everyone seemed to recognize it since he often wore this one in videos.
You had forgotten Wilbur gave you his sweater sometime early in the night. It wasn’t cold in Brighton during the day, it was warm in the sun. The perfect weather for a band shirt and your favorite pair of comfy pants. But after sunset, you had gotten chilly and Wilbur had offered you his sweater.
You shivered as the chilly wind made goosebumps rise on your arms. You wished you had brought a jacket before going out. You forgot to check the weather and you didn’t think you’d be staying out all day. It was fine, you weren’t going to make a big deal out of it.
Wilbur, who is walking with Tommy glances in your direction. Noticing your shivering state with your arms crossed, you failed to warm yourself up.
Without hesitation, Wilbur pulls his yellow jumper over his head and jogs to catch up with you. Holding out his arm with the sweater all bunched up in his hand, he nudged you.
You turn to look at him. Heat rushed to your cheeks at the realization of why he was handing you his sweater. He had noticed you were chilly and your stomach grew butterflies.
"You're shivering. I don’t want you to catch a cold."
You felt warm inside. You never thought you’d find the typical romantic gestures appealing but then you met Wilbur. Who proved you wrong. He was always a gentleman. It made you fall in love with him more and more.
You take it gratefully and put it on. The bright yellow contrasted against y/h/c and somehow made your skin glow. It made you look happy somehow, but it could be the fact you were wearing your boyfriend's sweater. The smell of his cologne faintly lingers on it.
Wilbur blushed and felt a bit dizzy seeing you wearing his clothes sometimes, and now it was the same case. He thought you looked adorable and was glad he could help you be warmer.
“Thanks, Will,” you smiled.
You almost stood on your toes to kiss his cheek but stopped yourself short. You didn’t want the others to see. Wilbur didn’t care. He leaned right over and kissed your head quickly.
"Of course, darling."
You smiled at the memory of two hours ago as the chat was still spamming you with questions. You tried to ignore it so you booted up your saved game of Stardew Valley. Knowing everyone wanted an update on your farm.
As you played you would glance over to your other monitor and notice chat wasn’t letting up about the sweater. It was getting a bit on your nerves since chat was getting a little hectic and you wanted to have a normal stream. Suddenly you heard an alert for Discord on your computer and you perked up like a golden retriever.
“Oh hold on chat, I’m getting a message!” you say opening up Discord on the opposite screen, just in case. Hopefully, someone wants to join you for a game or chat with you for a while. You were optimistic about finding out.
You saw it was from Tubbo. You immediately got excited seeing a notification from one of your closest friends. Your eyes read his message carefully making your heart sink to your stomach.
Tubbo: Hey, Y/N I don’t mean to alarm you but you’re trending on Twitter. I think you should check it out.
Below his message was a link and you clicked on it hesitantly, assuming the worst you were bracing yourself for. Twitter opened up to reveal a whole thread of posts involving various screenshots. You sat in your desk chair with your messy hair and Wilbur's sweater clinging to your body.
You tried not to show too much emotion on your face while you scrolled. Knowing that all your now 4,000 viewers were watching you with every beat.
Tears brimmed in your eyes as all this attention was starting to overwhelm you.
You typed back a reply to Tubbo.
This is bad, right?
You were trying so hard to keep it together, everyone was figuring out your secret. You didn’t want everyone to find out this way, especially not your friends. They deserve better.
No no no, they don’t know what they’re talking about and just ignore it.
Easier said than done tubs.
ik ik
I was watching your stream and I noticed chat being nosey and I could tell you were uncomfortable. Are you okay?
You moved your eyes back to the chat again. It was going even faster now. Your viewer count had gone up even more. Everyone was asking why you were being so quiet all of a sudden. You apologized to everyone before returning to your chat screen with Tubbo.
“I'm sorry guys just message my friend real quick.”
Yeah.
Listen y/n if it's true or not I’m happy for you either way.
I'm sorry you had to find out this way.
Don’t be. It’s not your fault.
Does anyone else in the group know?
Just me. And technically Ranboo but he hasn’t figured it out.
You giggled at that.
You were so enthralled talking with Tubbo that you didn’t even hear the front door open. Will was home, toeing off his shoes and hanging up his flat keys.
You typed to Tubbo that you were going to end the stream. Make up some excuse that you were too tired but you didn’t want to seem suspicious. That’s when Wilbur snuck up behind you and leaned down so that he could wrap his arms around your shoulders.
Chat went even crazy. Spelling his name in all caps. Chaos. Absolute chaos.
You instantly froze at the contact and stayed like that for a good solid couple of seconds in shock. The smirk on Wilbur's lips was still prominent, but what he did next stunned you more than you already were.
Wilbur leaned down and placed a kiss on your cheek tenderly. His lips lingered on your skin. Burning. You always felt this way when he kissed you. It was sweet and brief. You could feel his breath across your skin when he pulled away. Like it wasn't a big deal that he simply kissed you in front of thousands of people. Looked up at your monitor and smirked when he saw your chat going ballistic.
“Oh are you streaming?” he asked. Of course, he knew you were streaming, and yes he did see the tag trending. Tubbo had messaged him as well and Wilbur thought now was the best time to reveal. He wanted everyone to know you were his, and he was yours. So he hatched a scheme in his head to surprise you by coming home while you were still streaming. So, you were in shock that your boyfriend had come in and kissed your cheek on camera. In front of your viewers.
You were a bit mad at him at the moment. Then you saw how cute he looked with his head resting on your shoulder as he watched the chaos issue from his work.
“Guess the cat’s out of the bag now huh darling?” he hummed into your ear softly.
It made you flustered when you felt his lips brush your ear.
“Now everyone knows you're mine.”
Your heart was beating a million miles per second. You couldn’t believe it was happening. You were so relieved and yet kinda annoyed with Wilbur at the same time for sneaking up on you. You wanted to swipe that cheeky grin off his face. He could be such a smart ass sometimes, but you love him for it.
Now would be a good time to end this. You thought as you cleared your throat and kept your eyes on the chat log.
"Well, that's enough for me tonight, goodnight.” You finally say quickly, coming out of your flustered state.
"Bye chat,” Wilbur waves.
As soon as the outro screen came on you logged out of Twitch. Immediately, you lay your face in your hands and began crying. Wilbur grew concerned.
"Y/N?" He spun your chair around to face him. He got down to his knees in front of you and placed his hands on your arms. Your heart was beating in your ears, pounding as the situation became too much. Hitting that end stream button brought a sense of relief now that you could finally take it all in. Everyone knew. There was no going back from this. You were so sure that you'd never get a break from the constant questions and judgment that come with being a content creator.
Besides you on the table, your phone was going off like crazy, vibrating and shaking with alerts. You lifted your head to stare at it in fright. Wilbur detected your uneasiness immediately and grabbed your phone to shut it off completely before turning his attention back to you.
He brings his hand up to tuck strands of your hair out of your face and behind your ears. You try your best to begin a breathing exercise to calm yourself down.
Inhale through the nose.
Exhale out of the mouth
Wilbur's touch begins to calm your racing mind and heart. His voice anchors you back to the surface of your deepest thoughts.
Breath. Just breathe.
“That's it, in and out."
When you finally get your breathing down to somewhat normal and you surpass a panic attack. Wilbur doesn't say anything. Just holding you until you’re ready.
“I'm sorry,” you whimper and squeeze your eyes shut in shame. Tears flow out again as Wilbur shushes you.
“Don’t be sorry, don't." He chastised.
“It was just a lot.” You sniffled.
“I know, but it's going to be okay, you know why?”
You shake your head from side to side.
“Because I love you so much, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It’s you and me,” he reassured.
You smile tearfully. “I love you too.”
The rest of the night you are spent curled up next to Wilbur, your phones turned off to enjoy some time together away from the internet. The sudden sound of your PC exploding with the sound of the discord call ringtone has you groaning and pausing the movie you both were watching. You had forgotten to shut it down during the chaos. Wilbur goes over to your monitor to turn it off but sees it's Tommy calling. Reluctantly he answers and the room is filled with the teen's loud voice.
“Why didn't you guys tell me!” he shouted, his voice breaking up through the speakers due to his loudness.
“Hello to you too Tommy,” Wilbur spoke.
“Wilbur! I never thought you’d get any women!”
Wilbur glared over at you as you burst into laughter. It was clear that Tommy was surprised and happy for you both but he was also being his obnoxious self.
“Alright Im hanging up now,” Wilbur says.
“No, no!” he laughed. “Im genuinely really happy for you two,”
“Thanks, toms!” you shouted from your spot on the couch.
“Thank you Y/N!!” Tommy exclaims. ”See Wilbur, at least someone appreciates my remorseful attitude,”
Wilbur rolls his eyes and ends the call, shutting down your pc so no one else could bother you. You laughed as he made his way back over to you on the sofa so you could continue your movie. Wilbur was likely going to try and protect you from being bombarded by your friends too much if you decided tomorrow that you'd talk to everyone, You were nervous to face them but you would know that nothing was going to change that your friends supported you.
Hi! I just wanted to ask, If its okay to request something with male reader and wilbur? :D
Have a good day!
my darling, husband
A/N; this took me a stupidly long time but tbf I kept stopping writing bc..lack of motivation. but I finished it!! so here!! its very fluffy and honestly a lot of the affection from will is self indulgent so there's that lol
summary; reader and wil havent disclosed their relationship nor their marriage but wilbur decides to bite the bullet impulsively during a lvjy radio interview
tw// swearing, so much affection, its just fluff, will is suggestive at the end
Your relationship with Wilbur was anything but public, your family and friends knew--and that was enough for you both. As far as the rest of the world and the internet were concerned, you two were simply best friends. Close friends. Obviously, you were shipped together but you both found it more entertaining than anything.
Plus.
Wilbur didn't feel comfortable disclosing the fact you were his husband. Husband. Male, not a woman- which everyone seemed to assume that's what his eventual partner would be, and that bothered him to great lengths. Why couldn't it be a clean slate, that he, himself, and himself only, could write on--determine the contents of. He never knew, but now, he had that opportunity.
He wanted to casually mention it, something he slips in, a method that would break the internet, making everyone take a step back and reevaluate. He thought it'd be so fun.
"I have a radio interview today," Wilbur spun the silver band around his finger, fidgeting as he gazed at you from across the island counter. His elbows rested on the wood countertop, his eyes locked intently on you as he smiled softly, a mischief in his eyes.
"Yeah? What about?" Your mouth quirks up into a smirk, a knowing little gesture. You knew.
"About anything really--" He cut himself off, taking in a breath and walking behind the counter to you, wrapping his arms around your middle, his chin on your shoulder as he hugged you from behind, "Although, I was thinking about something," He grabbed your hand and spin you to face him, "Would you like to hear?"
He smiled softer as he leaned down til your faces were inches apart, you smiled, a soft kiss placed upon his lips, "Sure, why not?"
Wilbur moved his hands to rest on your hips, "I was thinking, what if I mentioned my husband-- I'm sure I can find a way to mention my handsome lover, don't you think?" He smirks, pressing soft kisses to your jaw, thumbs rubbing your hip bones and you shrug.
"I'm sure you'll find a way, love," You wrap your arms around his neck, and he pauses, his breath fanning against your skin in a blanket of warmth--yet it still makes you shiver.
"I always do," He resumes, light kisses being placed on the skin of your neck, his slight stubble tickling you and you giggle slightly. You feel him smirk against your skin, shaking his head a moment before he pulls back to look at you, "It's so hard not to gush about you."
"I'm just that wonderful," You smile smugly up at him, your hands finding a resting spot on his sides, rubbing softly, "You're gonna be late though, so go! Move along, darling!" You giggle as he huffs.
"But-"
You smack his chest, "No, go!"
"Fiiiine--" He kisses your cheek and then nuzzles his nose against your soft skin. He moves to whisper in your ear, breathing fanning against your ear, tickling you, "I'll see you later, baby boy."
You roll your eyes at him, smiling playfully and you smack his shoulder, "Wilbur!"
He giggles, backing up, and before he skips out of the kitchen--he brings you into a deep, loving kiss, his hands on either side of your face and his thumbs rubbing softly on your cheeks. His lips moving entirely in sync with yours and almost desperate to never leave you. He pulls back a few moments later, both of you panting for air and smiling like lovesick fools. Never gets old, you think, his love.
He doesn't say another word, no goodbye or see you later-- and he slips out of the kitchen, skipping up the stairs with an extra pep in his step. He slings open the door to his office, and he sneaks inside, finding his spot at his chair and booting up his computer. He pulls his feet to rest on the chair, his legs pulled against his chest as he watches everything load.
The windows bing sounded and he logged in; his password simple and totally not relating to you--and then he opened Zoom not short after- a piece of him wishing it was discord, despite how cringy that may be--the audio quality was just better in his opinion but he wasn't sure it really mattered. The radio would just fuzz it out and that really defeats the purpose of good audio quality, doesn't it?
He taps the desk as he waits for the meeting to start, and when it does, Mark's the first to be there or maybe he was the first they let it. Joe and Ash follow after and then the interviewers introduce themselves. He kinda zones out and then he hears his name;
"Welcome Lovejoy! Ash, Joe, Mark and Wilbur have joined us today to talk about their new EP 'Wake up and it's over'! So, boys, what are you all about? Introduce yourselves."
Mark goes first, "I'm Mark Boardman, I'm on drums for our silly band and uh, they got me off fiver," Mark chuckles softly, and the rest of the band all giggles along.
"Yeah, Wil just found him on Fiverr, just like for the first EP and then he joined the band," Joe chimes in, giggling softly, "I'm Joe, lead guitarist and like I guess backing vocals sometimes?" The man chuckles at the last part, Wilbur can see his face contort in this jokingly confused expression--since everyone but Wil have their cameras on. Doesn't want to bother with the green screen today, still hasn't gotten a room divider--the office looks too much like a married couple's shared space. Too risky.
He smiles softly as Joe and Mark introduce Ash together, mentioning his badass guitarist turned bassist background--the burger shop story, all of that.
And then he introduces himself, "I'm Wil Gold, Lovejoy's lead singer I suppose? And according to my roommate, their token mentally ill perfectionist--" He chuckles, shaking his head. Ash, Joe and Mark all nod their heads, agreeing with his last statement. He wanted to say husband, he almost said it. Ash saw it, he saw how Wil started to slip up--started to say husband instead of roommate--
No one else notices, the interviewers greet them and move along with their questions. The boys mindlessly answer, bantering slightly as they answer each question.
"So, we all know you guys have scrapped a lot of songs, which one's that you've released weren't supposed to be?" Joe and Mark chuckle, Ash giggles and Wilbur rolls his eyes with a soft smile.
"There were two-- the first was Perfume," Wilbur starts, and Mark butts in to continue.
"That one was saved by two people actually, Tommy and Y/N. Tommy, Wilbur's little brother, pushed the most, if we're honest. He was so so set that Perfume was the best song-" Mark rambles on, Joe joining every once and a while and then they both look to Wilbur.
"The other was Call Me What You Like," Wilbur sucks in a breath and trains his eyes down, fidgeting with his fingers as he smiles softly, "My husband, actually, begged for that one. He was incredibly set on how good of a song it was, even more so than he was with Perfume, more than Tommy was!" He laughs softly, thinking back at the months you spent reminding him of how wonderful of a song it was, how beautiful it sounded--how much you loved it.
"Yeah, Y/N was very persistent-- Wilbur told me sometimes the first thing he would do was look at Wil, smile and say 'You should keep Call Me What You Like'-- like very first thing in the morning," Joe speaks now, chuckling slightly at his own memory of your persistence.
"Mm, yep, he commented a lot on my voice sounding like-- hold on, I'll go get him and he can tell you. Is that alright?" Wilbur turns to leave out of his chair, the interviewer chuckles and holds out their hand.
"Hold on, husband?" A playful yet confused smile shows on their face.
Wilbur nods, "Yep, husband-- I'll be right back with him," He cuts them off before they can even mention assumptions or press more about you. He mutes himself and turns off his camera, spins his chair, jumping out and slipping out the office door with a swift motion.
He's down the stairs in mere moments, back in the kitchen and arms wrapped around your waist, his chin on your shoulder. He presses soft kisses to your neck, a smirk evident, and you can feel it. You jump from the sudden movements and touch, smacking his arm playfully and giggling.
"Wilbur- shouldn't you be in your interview?" You turned around in his arms and he grumbled as he moved back to place soft kisses on the other side of your neck.
"I am in my interview buuuuut-" He draws out the word, lifting up his head as he gazes down into your eyes, soft and loving, "I wanted to show you off, so, come on! Come with me!"
He grabs both your hands in his, tugging you along-- trying to get you out of the kitchen and upstairs to the office, you stop him, shaking your head and chuckling.
"Darling, it's your interview--"
He steps closer to you, and he lets his grip on your hands fall, and he holds onto your hips.
"Yeah well, I want to show off my husband, and show them the person who saves half the songs we release," He leans down and presses a kiss to your cheek, "Come on, honey," He whispers it against your ear and you can practically feel the smirk as he speaks.
"Fine," You grumble and he giggles, practically dragging you out of the living room and up the stairs into the office. He's the first to find a spot, back in his chair and you start to pull your chair over next to him--and he hooks his arm around your waist, pulling you into his lap and he rests his chin on your shoulder. A few soft kisses placed on your neck and he asks;
"Ready?"
You nod, chuckling slightly as you lean against him. He clicks on his camera and unmutes and you both wave.
"I am back and have acquired my husband," He smiles big and happy, holding your hips with both his hands as he speaks. You rest your hands on top of his.
"Hi," You mumble out, smiling softly and blushing furiously as you're introduced as his husband--its lovely, but it's so new to you.
Everyone greets you, waving and smiling at their cameras, and you giggle to yourself.
"So, you must be the one that single handedly saves a good bit of Lovejoy's discography?" The interviewer playfully asks, Wilbur resting his chin on your shoulder, arms snaking around your waist.
"Unfortunately, yes," You chuckle, keeping your hands on his and resting your head against his, "Bur over here, is an absolute perfectionist and if it doesn't fit his long list of requirements, it has to go. Even if everyone else thinks it's one of the best songs he's ever created."
Wilbur shyly hides his face behind your shoulder, subtly kissing the back of it through your shirt, palms rubbing your stomach lovingly.
"I am not…" He mumbles against your clothed shoulder, grumbling playfully at you.
The rest of the interview continues on smoothly, all five of you answering questions, you being the main topic a bit more than you would prefer--but seeing Wil smile the way he does when he speaks of you is definitely worth it.
When the interview ended, he shut off his PC, his arm still wrapped around your waist as you curled into his lap.
"You're a fucking simp, you know that?" You mumbled against his shoulder, giggling lightly.
"You're one to talk," He was taken aback for a moment, smiling softly and teasing as he looked at you with loving eyes.
You sigh, "You spent the second half of your band's interview talking about me, someone who is not in your band," You fold your arms over your chest as you readjust to face him in his lap. Your legs on either side of him.
"What can I say, you're simply that loveable," He smirks, tilting his head to the side as he looks up at you, his hands resting on top of your thighs.
"Liar."
You hop off his lap, spinning around to slip out of the office and he jumps out of his chair to follow you.
"I am no liar, darling!" He follows you, you aren't running nor are you walking that quickly but he still chases after you like you are--and so you hurry around the corner and into the bedroom.
"You are! It's practically your middle name!" You giggle as you turn around to face him, standing in the doorway and he meets you there, grabbing you by your sides and throwing you over his shoulder, "Hey!" You scold him, smiling wide and giggling.
He takes you over to the bed, giggling as he tosses you down just to attack your sides with his fingers to tickle you. You squirm and giggle, swatting at his hands.
"Will!!" He crawls to straddle your lap to keep you down as he keeps tickling you, "Stahp!!" You giggle, shaking your head as he leans down and kisses your cheek, pausing his attack to wrap his arms behind your back. Wilbur turns over onto his back, keeping you held in his arms, now lying on top of him.
"How about…" He pauses, a smirk crawling up onto his features as he turns you over onto your back again, attacking your belly with his fingers again, "No," He giggles with you as you squirm, smiling wide and happy.
"Wiilbuuururr!!" You keep swatting at his arms, giggling happily, almost out of breath. You make an attempt at catching your breath and for a moment you do, “Why are you like this?” You mutter out through giggles and he stops his attack on your sides, hands resting on them instead. He leans above you, smiling and he cocks his head to the side, a soft smirk replacing the smile.
“My darling...you're my husband, how can I resist?"

Masterlist: Wilbur’s Masterlist - Full Masterlist
A/N: I promised this weeks ago, just never posted it. (Also requests are still open! Click here!)
You find yourself nearly collapsing when you finally get through the door to your shared apartment. Wilbur isn’t home, as it is evident in the way it has been allowed to get warm. You like it when it's warm. It’s late. The sun has been gone for hours at this point, it has been gone long before you even thought about going home. You like being a lawyer, you like being an associate, you like making nearly 40 pounds an hour.
You look at your phone, no messages ever since you said you would be staying behind. He’s probably still streaming, or something. Your shoulders sink at the thought, but it’s alright.
It’s alright.
You can’t expect him to sit around and wait for you, just as he can’t expect you to do the same.
You stumble through the dark, refusing to turn on the lights. Even the bedroom is warm tonight.
A breath of relief flies through you as you finally get out of the tight-fitting skirt, Wilbur has always told you that you look good in it. Very mature and professional. You snort, hearing his voice in your head.
Despite the warmth in your apartment, the bed is cold as you sink into it, checking your phone one last time before diving into the sweet sensation of sleep. Welcoming the void of nothing, the void in which your worries cannot find you.
The void in which you miss your boyfriend coming home, complaining about the heat, complaining about the warm bed, but still finds his way into holding onto you. Finding a way into his own void.
You can feel his eyes on you as you get out of bed. The cold biting your toes, as you leave the one warm thing in your apartment. Wilbur let the apartment turn cold once again.
“Why are you up this early?”
“I have a job.”
He whines, opening the comforter for you to climb back into, only to be met with a sigh. Baiting you with the warmth he deprives you of outside the bed.
“I have a job, Wilbur.”
The comforter falls back down, eloping him, shielding him as he finds the words to attack.
“Of course you do, of course you fucking do.” He turns away from you, “will you even be home before sundown?”
You bite your tongue, a refusal to make promises you can’t keep, at the forethought of your mind. You secure the skirt as he decides to make his next attack, fishing for a reaction or a defence. Fishing for a reason to keep going or going back to sleep.
“I always hated your boss, he’s fucking unreasonable, making you pull all these hours. And what does he do? Nothing, not a single thing-”
Your voice cuts through his weak attack, finishing the battle in one single word.
“Goodnight.”
You close the door after you, ignoring the way it slams again the doorframe as you head out. Ready to be swept away in a life of glamour and overconfident people that have to make you sort their personal life and scandals out for them.
Your boss had stopped by your office on the way out, telling you of a bar promising a drink as payback. It doesn’t take long before a picture of you with a cocktail laughing reaches Wilbur through the means of Instagram. A picture of you in the environment you seem to thrive so well in. A place Wilbur doesn’t fit in.
A place where a streamer, a musician, a him will never fit in.
Even as he makes more money than you, even as he’s more famous than you, even as he’s better than you. You’re the one who lives among the wealthy and enjoys all the wine and grapes that come alongside that.
Wilbur despises it, all of it. All the glamour, all the fakeness, everything. The pigs you thrive amongst, the people that benefit from the everyday people. The sort of person Wilbur would be if he hadn’t gotten lucky.
He could never do what you do. Never sit in a box like that, slaving his life away for cases that test his humanity on the daily. He has heard more than enough from you, leading to a new rule having formed unspoken in your apartment recently.
No talking about work.
The cold greets you, as Wilbur doesn’t.
His nose in his laptop, social media pulled up as you pass him by, a greeting choked down by yourself. He won’t talk to you, you won’t talk to him.
It’s almost funny how two people, live the lives everyone envies so much. Living amongst the rich and famous, living amongst the unreachables. Living on such different sides of the scale found each other. Found peace in the stress.
Found peace in-
“Oh would you look at that, it’s only nearing midnight, you’re home early aren’t you?”
The battle cry sounds in the way you drop your bag on the floor.
Warfare has begun.
“Nice to see you too, such a wonderful experience that you could care to miss your ever so important friends to be home for a moment.”
You can hear him slap down his laptop, yet you can’t find it in yourself to react.
“I could care to be home for a moment?! Please! What about you miss hotshot? How come you aren’t out till the sun comes up mingling with potential clients as you boast about achievements nobody cares about.”
You snap around to face him.
“At least I don’t laze around all day, playing video games!”
“AND YET I MAKE MORE MONEY THAN YOU!”
The attack cut deep, as he wins this battle, he wins in the way you turn your back to him. In the way, you don’t get to see the regret on his face, in the way he knows you’re blinking away tears.
Both of you long since having decided the other isn’t worth tears any longer.
“I… I’m going to bed, don’t stay up late Will.”
He tries to reach out for you, but his arm can’t do much in the way a valley has opened between you. A canyon that has been escalating ever since you met. One which many bridges have been burned over. Leading both of you to question how did you ever meet in the middle?
Wilbur bites his tongue as you leave for work, he bites his tongue as you slump against him, he bites his tongue as he reminds you to shower before going to bed. He wishes he wouldn’t bite it when he sees the way you’re tearing yourself apart chasing a dream you would never stop chasing for anything. He knows you would trample him down too if needed.
He knows you are trampling him down already.
And he would do the same, he finds himself admitting one night. But you aren’t there to listen, and so his tongue has been tied once you enter, and sweet nothings that used to mean the world spills from his lips.
“I love you.”
The man is too busy focusing on not making his words stumble as he says them, missing how they once again seem to mean the world to you, as you try to recount the last time each of you told the other I love you.
You try your hardest to reach his hand as he extends it, but neither of you are close enough to even touch the other. So you swallow your words and just give him a hug, although it lingers for longer than it has in months.
Wilbur finds himself biting his tongue. You tolerate the cold for a bit.
The words fester in your mind as the weeks go by, and the canyon expands. An army growing on each side, an inevitable battle on the horizon. A battle that leaves even the survivor at a loss. It always does.
A battle that starts with you being tired of Wilbur skipping out on spending time with you when you for multiple weekends in a row have made time for him. In between everything else in your life, you have tried so hard to extend your hand further after his attempt. But he seems to have pulled his hand back. So you aim your ammunition at him instead.
“Would it hurt you and your internet career, so much if you just stayed behind for once! If you looked at me like I wasn’t a thorn in your side!”
The words ever carefully chosen, the words ever recklessly spoken, as Wilbur unsheaths his own weapon.
“You? I look at you as if you’re the thorn in your side?! I’m sorry I don’t take you out to all those fancy places! That I don’t waste my money on useless shit nobody cares about!”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“That I’m not good enough for your fucking fancy-ass life, when did I stop being good enou-” Wilburs voice breaks, and you know you shouldn’t lose. But this is no longer about the battle, it’s about the war. You both know, the winner takes it all this time.
“When did you stop loving me?” He chokes out, tears in his eyes as his shoulders shake.
“I don’t- I didn’t- Wilbur please”
“I tried, I tried so hard to keep us going, I even told you I still love you even when you didn’t for months!” The anger is back, bringing yours right along for the ride.
“HOW FUCKING NOBLE OF YOU!” You get right up into his face, driving home your point about how saintly he is.
“COME DOWN FROM YOUR HIGH FUCKING HORSE! YOU NEVER CARE ABOUT ANYTHING UNLESS THERE IS MONEY IN IT!”
You stumble back as he goes forward. His counter-attack is solid, striking perfectly well in your mind and your heart.
“I HAVE TO SIT AROUND AS YOU ACT SO HIGH AND MIGHTY! SPENDING ALL YOUR TIME SLAVING FOR PEOPLE WHO CARE EVEN LESS THAN YOU! I STILL CARE! I STILL FUCKING CARE!” Wilbur keeps going, the arrows of sorrow flying across the canyon, your defence weakening at his desperation.
But you’re not unarmed, neither unprepared.
“If you cared so much you would have been there when I got promoted.”
Finally, it’s his turn to stumble, finally, it’s his turn to feel a lethal blow.
“What?”
“Now I’m not so high and mighty am I now?”
You spit at him.
“What? When did this happen?”
His shields lower, you know you should stop, take the potential ceasefire, but you’re too proud to stop. Too proud to end the battle in a tie, when there is a chance at winning the war.
“Get on with your bullshit Wilbur, I tried telling you for a week, but you were oh so busy with your friends, and playing video games till 3 in the morning. I even cooked you dinner twice, you didn’t even bother to eat the leftovers.”
“I didn’t-”
“Know? Yeah I know…” You trail off, knowing your next attack will lower your own defence, leaving you vulnerable to your enemy. To your love. “I wanted to give you space, you hadn’t been that happy in weeks, and you looked at me for a bit like I wasn’t the worst, and I swallowed the pride in my chest, and let you be happy.”
He reaches out and you reach for him, letting your hands touch, letting the intertwine, letting him pull you in. Letting him hold you as you cling to him.
“I would have been happy with you.” He whispers into your hair, as he holds you tighter than you ever remember him holding you.
“Yeah… You would have…”
He can feel the words that you aren’t saying. They’re hanging heavily in the air, suffocating the two of you, as you try to suffocate each other in the chase for a victory in a war that can’t be won.
But he won’t be happy now.
“I’m sorry.” He whispers, begs, pleads.
“I’m sorry.” You tell him, but you both know.
The war has been lost.
The casualties were too great, the canyon too far.
That even in each other's embrace, you can’t truly meet the other.
The door flings open as you stumble in, a couple of cocktails in your system and sweet-talking right on your lips. Anything to attract clients.
Your bag hits the floor as you take in the warm air... And the silence that follows it, no complaints from the couch about it, no signs he's home. No signs he has been here since.
Most of his stuff still stands where it did two weeks ago, both of you are too cowardly to live near each other until he can find a new apartment. Both are too caught up in the aftermath of the battle, as you heal your wounds and bandage the broken.
You finally slip into bed, a sigh of contentment slipping past your lips, it's nice and warm.
You never really liked the cold.
His things have disappeared when you come home the day after, a finality to the war. The battles have been fought, the wounds have been mended. The fields have been deserted.
Yet you're quick to find yourself missing your spot on the battlefield.

What a busy bee you’ve become. Well, not just you. Along with the entire junior and senior students, you were all preparing for your future. So your schedule was filled with many things that would either look good on your college application or opportunities for extra credit.
So it seemed as if you had no more for anything thing and couldn’t give much focus to anyone else.
But then Wilbur came along.
Regardless of the schedules you both knew you had, the connection between the two of you was stronger than that. But you both knew that someday, it would take advantage of you, and one of you would end up hurt.
You just didn’t want that someone to be you.
With a relationship comes time management with communication. And it was something that you and Wilbur could say you struggled in. You did text a lot during the nighttime and morning time, but when it came to school or meeting up, you two could barely make room in your schedules.
It got to the point of missing many interactions together.
So by this time, you and Wilbur missed each other’s company, each other’s voice, each other’s warmth. So on Tuesday of February 22, Wilbur had been the one to text and ask you.
wilbur: hey love, I know you’re headed off to bed soon but I wanted to ask something
y/n: what is it?
wilbur: i don’t have to do anything to do tomorrow for lunch. Do you think we could spend the entire lunch period together?
Your heart filled itself with so much love, hope finally falling into your hands as you realized that if you both worked hard, you could continue to be with each other.
The relationship you had with Wilbur felt as if it was beginning to fall apart. After all, being stressed and put under pressure takes a huge toll on a person. So it was surprising to many of your guy’s friends that you two stayed with each other even though you seemed to barely have time for each other.
y/n: YES! Yes yes yes !! I would love to! I can pack us lunch like I used to :)
wilbur: so cute <3 I love your sandwiches. You cut them into four pieces, it’s precious
y/n: so I’ll see you tomorrow then??
wilbur: you will, darling. I’ll bring cookies
y/n: I love you <33
wilbur: I love you too <33

“Pardon?” Your eyes widened.
The principal sighed, “listen, I know it’s short notice but please do this. No one else accepted, they all think he’s weird.”
You raised an eyebrow, “why is he weird exactly?” Your grip on your backpack strap tightened as lunch neared.
“He wears a mask and glasses, doesn’t want anyone to see what he looks like. Which reminds me, remind his teachers that he’s allowed to wear glasses indoors. Most teachers ignore my emails.” She sighed.
“But I have plans for lunch.”
“Oh come on, y/n. Please?” She begged.
“Ms. Lopez, come on! Isn’t there any other single person who can do it?” Your voice desperate.
“There’s really not.”
There goes your lunch plans. You hesitantly nodded your head, you didn’t want the new freshmen to feel like such an outcast that not even you, the school president, would accept him.
“Thank you, y/n. He’s a great kid, you’ll like him.” Ms. Lopez smiled excitedly before calling him in.
A tall boy walked in with his backpack draped over his shoulder, his mask and glasses covering his entire face.
‘HES A FRESHMEN?! Jesus fuck- my best friends are already taller than me!’ You complained to yourself, watching the boy nervously walk over to you.
“Y/n, this is (censored).” Ms. Lopez smiled towards the boy.
“Um..,” his voice was deep and quiet, nervous to say the next line, “please call me Ranboo. I.. prefer it.”
You quickly nodded before giving him a small smile, “It’s nice to meet you, Ranboo. I’m y/n, school ASB president.”
Today was going to be eventful to say the least. Ranboo was an interesting person. He seemed quiet and calm when needed but he was funny and could keep up a good conversation. You liked him and decided you would keep him. After all, it’s not high school without a junior adopting a new freshmen.
“Where are we going?” Ranboo asked you as he tried keeping up with your energy, the two of you walking down the halls.
“It’s lunch time.” You smiled.
Your own eyes widened when you processed your sentence.
“It’s lunch time- RANBOO, MOVE!”
But it was too late. The doors to the classrooms burst open and hundreds of students piled into the halls, quickly walking off towards the double doors. People avoided you though, not wanting to hurt their precious ASB president. So while there was a clearing for you and people hardly bumped into you, Ranboo was separated from you.
“Ranboo! No!” You yelled, trying to get to his side.
“Sorry guys, can you please just move? I need to get over there.”
Quickly, everyone made a path for you to get to the doors on the other side. Warm greetings being given as you quickly walked over to the doors. Before you could react and look for Ranboo, someone grabbed your hand, giving a happy smile at being able to find you.
“N/n! Tubbo and I have been looking everywhere for you. It’s lunch time, come on. Tubbo scored us a table outside with shade.”
Tommy and Tubbo. They were your best friends. And sadly they were taller than you too. You shook your head before looking into the halls again, trying to spot Ranboo.
“The principal asked me to show a new freshmen around.” You explained.
“Oh cool! Where are they then?” Tommy have an excited expression.
“… I lost him.”
“…”
“…”
“IS THIS YOUR WAY OF CALLING US CHILDREN?!”
“NO TOMMY, I PROMISE-”
“BECAUSE IM LITERALLY TALLER THAN YOU.”
“IM AWARE, I DIDNT MEAN TO LOSE HIM.”
Moments later, both you and Tommy searched for him in the halls. They were beginning to empty out as a normal capacity of students were now walking through the halls.
“I can’t believe you lost him,” He laughed, “and on his first day here.”
“Shut up!” You whined with a frown, hoping the two of you would find Ranboo soon.
Eventually, you caught sight of a boy sitting down on a chair by the office. His glasses were titled and his mask was gone, his hand now covering half of his face.
“Ranboo!” You yelled, both you and Tommy now running over to him now.
He quickly turned to you and excitedly waved with his free hand, grateful to finally find you.
“What happened?” You asked once you made it by his side.
“Well,” he sighed, “someone was taller than me and bumped into my shades. At some point, everyone squeezed me and I lost my mask. Then the hallway cleared out and I saw this chair and sat down.”
You frowned before pulling a dollar store mask from your backpack, handing it to him. He raised an eyebrow, seeming to want to know why you were carrying them around before putting the mask on and fixing his shades.
“There’s a lot of kids here who wear masks because they don’t want to get sick, so I carry them around in case any of them ever need one.” You smiled, making Ranboo smile back at you.
You looked over at Tommy before pulling on his shirt towards the two of you, “Ranboo, this is one of my best friends, Tommy. Tommy, this is the new kid I was talking about.”
“Nice to meet you,” Tommy smiled, “but we should get back soon. Tubbo is literally sitting by himself at the table we got.”
Your eyes widened before you got up and started sprinting, “TUBBO, HONEY, IM SO SORRY! ILL BE THERE SOON!”
Laughter was heard behind you before you disappeared through the double doors.
♡︎♡︎♡︎
“You aren’t forgiven!!” Tubbo glared at both you and Tommy, “I sat here for almost twenty minutes when you told me you would only be gone for five minutes looking for n/n!”
“I know, I’m sorry!,” Tommy pleaded, “but it’s not my fault. It’s n/n’s.”
You playfully gasped, “you’re kidding! I can’t even eat with you guys anyway!”
“See?!,” Tommy stated his case, “they aren’t even going to hang out with us. They’re ditching us for that kid.” He pointed at Ranboo who nervously stood there.
“I’m not part of this-”
“Ranboo, shh! You’re on my side.” You made him to sit down next to you on the table while you and Tommy both stood with your arms crossed.
“For your information, Wilbur and I are going to spend lunch together. I even made us lunch.” You proudly lifted a bag with sparkles in your eyes.
Tommy gasped, “Even worse! You’re ditching us for your boy toy!”
“…”
“…”
“Tommy, please stop hanging out with Dream and his friends-“
“Why- they’re very informative-”
“Anyways, I made lunch for you guys too.” You grabbed another bag before putting it on the table, enough for the three of them, you were grateful you normally make a lot of food for Tommy and Tubbo since they’re growing and need more protein.
“W-Wait, you’re leaving? Where do I go?” Ranboo hesitantly asked you.
“Just stay here, Tommy and Tubbo are nice. Plus, I made food, dig in. School lunch is gross.” You reassured him.
“But.. Tubbo is glaring at me.” Ranboo pulled you down and whispered while he looked over at Tubbo.
You turned and sure enough, Tubbo had his arms crossed with a glare directed towards Ranboo.
“Tubbo, stop. Don’t scare Ranboo off. Welcome him, he’s our new friend. Isn’t that right, Tommy?”
Tommy had already grabbed a plastic plate and started eating the food you brought. He looked up with his mouth full and quickly nodded.
“Ranboo cool, food good.”
You gave him a disappointed expression before shaking your head. At least he agreed with you.
“Do you have to leave?” Tubbo finally spoke again.
You looked over at him and gave a nice smile, “it’s just for today. Wilbur and I hardly get opportunities like this. We’ll meet up after school and we can go to Chucky E. Cheese and traumatize Ranboo like we traumatized Tommy.”
Tubbo gave a small laugh before nodding. You smiled at being able to cheer him up. Tommy on the other hand rolled his eyes while Ranboo gave a scared expression.
“Did you pack my…” Tubbo’s voice trialed off.
You pulled some gummies out and flashed them in front of Tubbo, making him get excited before he grabbed them and ripped the bag open. You pulled out another bag and handed it to Ranboo as he hesitatingly grabbed it.
“Shouldn’t this be for Tommy?” He asked.
“Tommy hates these.” Tubbo sighed before grabbing a plate and some food as well.
You pulled your phone out and checked the time, realizing you would be late soon.
“I have to get going guys. Ranboo, don’t be afraid to get some food. Don’t be afraid of the guys either,” You gave him some small head pats before turning to Tommy, “don’t kill anyone. Tubbo, make sure he doesn’t kill anyone.”
Tubbo nodded while Tommy awwed in disappointment. You let out a nervous breath, your tummy filling with butterflies at getting to spend some time with your boyfriend during school hours. The others smiled at you in support before you walked off, determination on fixing your falling out relationship in every step you took.
“Sooo, Ranboo. That’s an interesting name. Is it your real name or?” Tubbo broke the silence before taking a bite of his food, Tommy turned as well, now interested in the topic.
“Yea, it’s fucking weird.”
“Tommy!”
“Okay, I’m sorry-”
“Oh um,” Ranboo nervously grabbed a plate, putting some food on it, “My name is actually (censored). I just prefer Ranboo, please.” His voice for small, hoping they wouldn’t call him by his real name.
“Yea of course. If you tell us your preferred name is Ranboo, then we’ll definitely call you Ranboo.” Tubbo gave a smile.
Ranboo let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, thankful they were understanding.
“Tubbo isn’t his real name either,” Tommy started before taking a sip of his drink, “it’s (censored), but he prefers Tubbo.”
The masked boy gave a nod before taking a bit of your food, an immediate smile being placed on his face with sparkles in his eyes.
“Yea we know what you’re thinking, n/n’s a great cook.” Tubbo smiled as Tommy nodded in agreement.
You, our beautiful main character, had finally made it to the spot you and Wilbur agreed on. While sitting on the cement, you swung your legs around, excited to see your smiling British boyfriend greeting with a kiss on the forehead. Just a few seconds left and he’d be here soon.
But seconds turned into minutes.
And those minutes ran for a while.
You were beginning to wonder if he bailed on you.
The anxious feeling coming back but it wasn’t so happy anymore.
Your eyes began to water, wondering why he hadn’t arrived.
Where the hell was Wilbur?
You started making up excuses for him.
‘He’s caught up in class.’
‘He’s redoing some work.’
‘He’s in the office.’
Until your final thought was-
‘He’s not coming.’
You let out a breath and a few tears you didn’t know you were holding. To others, you might’ve seemed over dramatic. Crying over your boyfriend not arriving for a cute lunch date as planned. But.. you hadn’t seen Wilbur for a while so of course, you were excited for this date. You had always made room for Wilbur in your schedule. And the one time he finally makes some room for you-
He doesn’t show up.
Your breathing got shaky. Was this relationship even worth it anymore? You loved him, but could you continue you stress over a failing relationship where one seems to never have time for the other?
‘I don’t want to do this any-’
“Y/n?”
You turned to your right, your breathing calming down. Your eyes met George, someone you considered a friend.
“Hey, what’s going on?” You could hear the worry in his voice as he raised his hand to wipe your tears.
“Here,” Dream was bending down in front of you, holding out a water bottle that had just been opened, “this should help you calm down. Then you can decide if you want to talk.”
You nodded before grabbing the water bottle and taking a couple sips, your tears continuing to slowly fall as George set his hand on your shoulder for support, Dream holding your free hand, and another hand set itself on your left shoulder.
“Was it Wilbur?” Sapnap’s voice.
You hesitantly nodded before panicking when you saw Dream scoff and get up.
“H-He didn’t hurt me physically, Dream! Please calm down.” Your voice sounded desperate, knowing what he was capable of.
He sighed before nodding and bending back down, “what happened?”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Sapnap asked as well.
“I know we aren’t close with you, y/n. But, we’re still your friends. And we don’t like seeing you cry this way. Especially over some dumb boy.” George chimed in.
“No offense.” Dream chuckled, making you give a small broken laugh back.
“It’s just that,” your voice got quiet, “Wilbur and I have completed schedules. We’re both overachievers and just want a good future. So our schedules are full of things to help us for the future. We don’t get to spend a lot of time together. But I always make room for him in my schedule.”
“But he doesn’t make room for you.” Sapnap finished for you, sad eyes watching your expression.
“This is stupid,” you gave a dried laugh, a scoff following, “we both obviously don’t have time for a relationship.”
“But if you love him, then wouldn’t the few minutes you two have together be worth it?”
You turned to George with surprised eyes, you didn’t expect this from him. He hadn’t exactly been in a relationship but it was known he had feelings for Dream, even if Dream was an idiot who didn’t realize it.
“But I could I really continue supporting a relationship where neither has time for each other?”
“But could you really hurt yourself even more by letting him go?”
“George, you’re making things worse. Shush.” Sapnap smacked the back of his head.
The British boy let out a whine before looking over at you again, “I don’t mean to upset you more, y/n. But you love him a lot, and letting him go because of something that can be worked on, will only hurt you. And I don’t want to see you hurt even more.”
You nodded, understanding that he just meant well. He was right though. You worked hard alone just to get the courage to be with him and now.. did you really want to throw that all away? He’s a great boyfriend, and when you did hang out or talk, he was so sweet and loving. You finally looked up again, meeting Dream’s worried eyes.
“George is right. Five minutes means more than not being with him at all. It’s just something we need to work on. And he’s more than likely held up in class, so at least it’s for a good reason why he didn’t show up.”
Dream sighed before his grip on your hand tightened a bit, “Alright, if you think so. We’ll support any decision you make. And if you ever need Wilbur to disappear, I’m always available.” He gave an innocent smile.
You chuckled before nodding, wiping off the last tear that was rolling down you cheek.
“Head back to your freshmens, they’re weird but they’re able to cheer you up easily. Hopefully, we did well though.” Sapnap smiled at you.
“You guys did great, I appreciate you, weirdos.” You nodded.
The three leaned in before kissing you lovingly, Sapnap and George both kissing your left and right cheek while Dream kissed your forehead. You blinked before returning the favor with cute forehead kisses.
It took a while for them to eventually let you walk back to the table you had left the bench trio. When you did arrive, Tommy and Tubbo were talking to each other while Ranboo finished up his lunch from under his mask. You sighed before walking over and taking a seat next to Ranboo, making the three notice you.
“N/n! You’re back!” Tubbo was the first to happily greet you.
“Oh thank god, I thought we wouldn’t see you until after school. I don’t know where my next class is.” Ranboo gratefully looked at you.
Tommy’s happy expression to see you quickly died down when he noticed the mood you were holding.
“What’d he do?”
His voice was low and cold, as if even mentioning the person he was talking about was disgusting.
“…What?” You looked at him stunned that he quickly noticed you weren’t doing well.
“What did Wilbur do, y/n?”
Tommy hardly used your real name.
The mention of Wilbur caught both Tubbo and Ranboo’s attention, making them look at you with worry before Tubbo’s expression turned sour with disgust.
“Don’t tell me he didn’t fucking show up.” Tubbo guessed correctly.
You didn’t say anything, not wanting to upset the two anymore than they already were.
“Y/n,” Ranboo chimed in, “what happened? What’d he do?”
Well, now Ranboo’s worried.
You sighed before looking down, hoping the tears wouldn’t return since they were no longer welcome.
“He didn’t show up, okay. Let’s move topics, please.”
“He fucking ditched you?! THAT FUCKING WANKER!” Tommy’s voice got more violent, making some tables turn to watch the commotion.
“Tommy, no. No, calm down. You’re attracting attention.” You tried.
“Good, it’ll let everyone know how much of an arse Wilbur Soot is for ditching his romantic partner when a date was planned. Didn’t he have free time? Why didn’t he show up?” Tubbo gave a dry laugh.
You stayed quiet again, the people from the tables nearby began talking amongst each other. It wasn’t often something bad that happened to the school ASB president was known.
“Please don’t be so loud, everyone keeps staring.” You whispered, now getting anxious from the way everyone was watching the interaction.
“Guys, calm down. You’re making them anxious.” Ranboo came to your rescue, glaring over at the other tables who were watching even though they couldn’t really see his face, making you appreciate him.
“No! I’m so tired of Wilbur,” Tommy continued, “why the hell are you still with him? He’s hurt countless of times only for you to be the only one putting work in the relationship.”
“And he planned this date, didn’t he? So why didn’t he show up? I bet he didn’t even text you to let you know he couldn’t come.” Tubbo’s glare still in place.
The voices around you got louder. Your heart beating in your chest since you knew they were talking about you.
“I thought our ASB president was perfect.”
I’m a human being.
“How dare he?! Wilbur is such a dick, he doesn’t deserve them.”
No.. Wilbur isn’t like that.
“Pfft- I knew he didn’t like them, he always seemed so bored.”
.. did he really?
“Hasn’t he been talking to Wendy more actually?”
Wendy… he’s talking to Wendy?
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he ditched them for her. He’s such a dick.”
Ditched me.. for her?
The tears returned and the gates to your eyes overflowed and broke down. Your bit of dignity left finally falling apart.
“HES JUST IN CLASS!,” your voice finally boomed, “HES A GREAT BOYFRIEND!”
The others jumped at your reaction, you quickly got up and made a run for it. Anywhere, you just didn’t want to be there. Your feet finally stopped you behind a school building, taking a seat down while the tears continued to roll and you hugged your knees.
Wow. I’m really pathetic, huh. Am I actually crying over my boyfriend and I not having time for each other? Is that even valid when others have it worse..? I don’t exactly have it good either but. Why this?
“Is this because it was the one time something actually went well in your life?”
Tommy. He followed you.
You didn’t look up, deciding to avoid his question. Hoping and begging that he would leave. Instead, he took a seat next to you. A sigh escaping his lips.
“I didn’t mean to raise my voice, n/n. I just don’t like seeing you upset,” you peaked up at him, he looked grateful to finally have your attention, “I just wish you wouldn’t bottle up things like this. You’ve been upset about it for a while.”
“I know you mean well, Tommy,” you whispered, voice feeling low after screaming, “but I don’t want to believe that Wilbur and I can’t fix this. I love him, and he loves me. Can’t you just be happy for us? Can’t you support me in this decision?”
Tommy didn’t say anything for a while. On some level, your hope really destroyed itself since not even your best friend believed in you.
“I am happy for you,” silence followed, “I’m proud of you actually.”
You finally looked up at him, making Tommy give you a grateful expression that you were paying attention to him.
“Proud.. of me?” You questioned.
“Y/n. When we first met, you weren’t into the idea of giving new kids a tour of the school if they entered in late. But we quickly clicked. And you were.. kind.”
His voice was low.
“You were pursuing Wilbur at the time. He was a cute boy in your class who you wanted to talk to,” his eyes met yours, a small smile replacing his once sad expression, “For the first time, someone cared about me. And Wilbur.. had a lot of your attention. And I don’t like you, of course I don’t like you that way. But all I wanted was for you to be happy. Since you really weren’t when I first met you.”
“And now?”
“Now,” Tommy sighed, “Wilbur doesn’t seem to care about this relationship the way that you do. Now all I want is for him to man up and save this relationship than continue to hurt you with his countless excuses.”
You softly nodded before grabbing his hand, “you could’ve just told me that you’re being overprotective.” A small chuckle escaped your lips.
Tommy gave a dramatic gasp before tightening his grip on your hand, “don’t be serious! I’m not being overprotective. I just.. don’t like the guy is all!”
You continued to laugh before he joined you. A smile placed on his face as he was thankful he cheered you up.
“Come on, dummy. As much as I think he’s an idiot, Wilbur must have an explanation. And a good one.”
“Darling..? Tommy?”
Damn it. We really just had to end up where his freaking class is. How dumb am I- why didn’t I notice-
“Wilbur.” Tommy acknowledged him with a small nod before getting up, pulling yourself up as well.
You cleaned yourself up before wiping the last tears that were on your pretty face. Wilbur noticed the tears and quickly panicked before wiping them himself.
“Y/n, what happened? Why are you crying?” His voice was soft and loving as he caressed your cheek, making Tommy roll his eyes.
“Don’t worry about it,” you reassured him, “I’m okay.”
He didn’t seem convinced but he didn’t want to bother you even more so he stopped pushing the subject.
“You didn’t show up. How come?” You finally cut to the chase, Tommy coming to your side for support as he shot you a cute smile.
“I’m so sorry about that, love,” Wilbur sighed, “I needed to retake a quiz and you know how strict my teacher is. She took my phone and I just finished.”
He looked sincere in his apology to you. Tommy however, knew a lie when he saw one.
After all, Ms. Johnson, Wilbur’s math teacher, is absent today.
But you looked happy knowing Wilbur actually had an excuse. He sighed before deciding to leave it be. Maybe Wilbur had just forgotten about the date and he didn’t want to tell you the truth.
You nodded before hugging Wilbur, the boy responding by hugging you back and kissing your forehead. Tommy watched in disgust before turning around, hoping that he was making the right choice by not telling you that Wilbur was lying.
♡︎♡︎♡︎
The next day, you were filled with more hope. A skip in your step as determination on fixing your relationship became stronger. But on the way to class, you noticed the stares being sent your way. Pity written across everyone’s expression as they stared and whispered amongst themselves.
Your grip on your backpack tightened as you neared your classroom, quickly entering before someone could talk to you. You were a minute late and yet the teacher hadn’t arrived. So everyone already in the classroom turned towards you, pitiful eyes staring at you once more. George included since he was in your class. But his expression.. it held more than just pity.
It held guilt.
You went over to your seat that was in front of George. The eyes following you until you sat down. The voices got louder, a mixture of your name and Wilbur’s name. Everyone was staring and whispering, everyone was watching with pity.
The voices stopped once George tapped your shoulder. Your confused expression stared back at his frowning one once you turned around.
“I was wrong.” He said before lifting his phone.
It was an Instagram story, and there was a video playing. A boy and a girl sat on the concrete floor, sharing cookies while the boy laughed. The horrible feeling returned, and you stared in disappointment and fear as the video continued.
A boy and a girl? That’s not right.
Wilbur and Wendy sat on the concrete floor, sharing cookies while he laughed.
That’s what those looks wear. People feel bad for you.
“Y/n, I’m so sorry!” A classmate chirped up.
“How horrible, that asshole!” Another.
“Don’t worry, you’re better off without him.” Another.
Before the teacher could walk in, you quickly got up and ran out of the classroom, tears starting to fall down your pretty eyes.
You weren’t jealous, that’s not what was happening. Wilbur can have friends so you didn’t really care much for him talking with Wendy.
It was his decision to skip your lunch date together to spend it with someone who wasn’t as important. And the cookies the two of them were eating.. he said he would bring them for the lunch date.
Maybe you were wrong.
Maybe this relationship wasn’t meant to last.
You didn’t have time for it.
He didn’t have for it.
And when you both did have time for it.. he didn’t want to spend time with you…
You sat yourself down by a brick wall, leaning back as you hugged your knees. Times like these, you wish Tommy was here. The kid was stubborn but he’s such a great friend. Tubbo would be a great help too. Ranboo is really sweet as well. Or Dream, though he’d probably just brag about beating Wilbur’s ass. Sapnap, he’d be worried. George, he would try to cheer you up. A small dry laugh left you, thinking of how you really needed one of your friends right now.
But no matter how shitty you felt, you got up. You wiped your tears, and you went back to class like nothing happened.
But everyone noticed your tears.
And everyone noticed how quiet you were.
And everyone noticed how your boyfriend no longer cared about you.
The day went by in a flash, class after class, each student watching your every move as if you would crack at any moment.
It wasn’t until lunch time when you finally did.
The moment you walked out of your last class in time for lunch, you quickly saw your three freshmens rushing to your side. Pulling you away from the crowd of people who wanted to ask you about Wilbur. News spread fast, and the school ASB President being ‘cheated on’ was the most recent drama.
When they finally got you alone by a building where not many students were, you stared up at an angry Tommy. His hands holding yours.
“I can’t believe him,” Tommy whispered before drowning at you, “y/n. Are you going to be okay?”
You didn’t respond. Honestly, you weren’t sure. You probably would be fine in the future. But you love him.. or loved. So it would take a while to heal. You softly shook your head as Tommy’s grip tightened.
“Not right now.” Your broken voice whispered back.
Tommy gritted his teeth before bringing you in a hug.
“Y/n, I know you probably still care about him, but is there any way we can kick his ass?”
Your eyes widened along with Tubbo’s and Tommy’s as the three of you stared at Ranboo, wondering where the sudden confidence came from.
“Well now we definitely have to kick his ass!” Tubbo chimed in, now ecstatic that Ranboo wanted to do the same.
You gave a small chuckle before Tommy let go of you, making the three quickly smile at you, happy to see that you were feeling at least a tiny bit better.
“Ranboo, thank you.” He nodded at you before walking over and giving you small head pats.
“He really didn’t deserve you. I’m not sure if he actually was cheating. But it was a real shitty move to ditch someone as wonderful as you for some other chick.” Tubbo gave his opinion.
“And of all people,” Tommy scoffed, “fucking Wendy. She’s a senior! And don’t tell me she’s still trying to date a bunch of juniors before she graduates.”
“T-Tommy! Maybe don’t suggest that she wants to date Wilbur. You’ve upset them.” Ranboo tried to calm you down with some head pats again.
“Oh shit- I’m sorry!”
“Y/n?”
The four of you turned towards the voice. A young girl nervously stood there holding a paper in her hands.
“I’m sorry to bother you guys. It’s time for Acitvity Fridays.” Emily frowned at you.
She was the secretary of the school. She was also a freshmen. You wouldn’t be surprised if she already knew of the issues between you and Wilbur. Maybe that was why she looked like she felt bad that you had to give announcements.
“Yea alright, let’s get going then.” You sighed.
“Y/n, don’t be serious. You don’t have to do it today.” Tubbo quickly stopped you.
He knew that if you did the announcements, it would only make things worse than they already were.
You looked at him before sighing once more, “It’s just announcements. I’ll be okay. You guys can come watch if you want to.”
The three didn’t have a chance to argue any further as you quickly followed after Emily to the quad’s stage.
People waved and frowned as you walked pass them, watching as you neared the stage. The microphone waiting for you patiently as if it would cure your pain. That feeling washing over you as you realized you hadn’t seen or heard from Wilbur at all today. Once you got to the stage, you got up and took a deep breath. Accepting the announcements paper from a fellow ASB member, you took a deep breath before taking the microphone.
“Hello Willow Creek High!” Your voice yelled into the mic, acting as if today was worth being happy over.
“Happy Activity Friday! How are we doing today everyone?” Cheers and yells erupted from the crowd, it was a lively audience whenever you went up there.
“Alright, you guys know the drill. Let’s get right to it with our first announcement.” You have a fake smile before looking at the paper you were handed.
Someone is asking Emily to the Sadie’s dance; look at her in the crowd and say, “Like a bouquet tied with twine, I can be yours if you will be mine.” Small note: we’re sorry n/n- the guy picked what he wanted you to say
Oh. The Sadie’s dance is coming up. How depressing.
You quickly looked back up with your plastered smile once more before looking over at Emily in the crowd. She titled her head as she noticed your stare was centered at her.
“Surprises are often good ones. So hey, why not try to surprise people once in a while,” you softly laughed before beginning again, “because like a bouquet tied with twine, I can be yours if you will be mine.”
You watched as a group walked in front of the stage holding a huge banner. A boy holding a bouquet of roses before he proceeded to ask Emily to the dance. But you weren’t focused on that.
You knew this pick up line was familiar.
It was the same one Wilbur used to ask you out.
You snapped out of your thoughts when you saw Emily and the boy turn towards you, others watching you as well.
You assumed maybe they wanted or asked you to congratulate your fellow ASB member. You smiled before Emily smiled back at you.
“Congrats to our new couple!” Cheers erupted once more.
“You better take care of her. I got a whole crew of freshmen ready to kick your ass if you don’t.” You laughed playfully along with everyone else.
“No but really, uh, I know this isn’t exactly like the biggest occasion for me to be giving a huge speech. But this is your first boyfriend, Em.” You pouted that she was growing up.
Awe’s were heard everywhere.
“Live in the moment. And spend a lot of time together. Even a bit of distance can ruin everything. And we’re wonderful people, we deserve to be treated like royalty.” Claps were next.
The feeling returned again. ‘We deserve to be treated like royalty.’ With Wilbur, you feel neglected. No matter how much effort you put in.. he doesn’t do the same. You wanted a change. You needed a change.
“Happy Activity Friday, everyone. Let’s take a break, enjoy yourselves!” You walked off the stage as the other ASB members gave you thumbs up as support.
Wilbur.
You needed to find Wilbur.
You quickly avoided your three freshmen as you noticed they were looking for you. It took a while but you found Wilbur. He was in Chemistry Club, laughing and sitting next to Wendy.
“Oh, hey y/n,” The teacher greeted you, “did you want to join us? I’d be more than happy for you to join.”
The club members turned towards you, chemicals in hand. When Wilbur met your eyes, his happy expression flattered when he saw your neutralized eyes. You were normally excited to see him.
“No thanks, Mr. Norman. If you don’t mind, can I borrow Wilbur for a second?” You were nervous, and you knew what was coming.
“Yea of course, go ahead.”
So here you were. Wilbur standing in front of you holding a chemical you didn’t recognize due to the distraction of your feelings.
“Darling? Is everything okay?”
Darling.
Why is he still calling you that?
You shook your head as a response, “Wilbur.. I love you.”
“Oh, I love you too,” He gave a sweet smile, “was that all, love? You could’ve texted me.” He let out a small laugh.
“Let’s break up.”
Silence replaced the once loving atmosphere. You could physically hear Wilbur’s heart break at your words. But there was such a wonderful relief that washed over you when you said it. Yet your tears began to build up, because you really did love him. But loving him was hard. Especially when he wouldn’t make the effort to continue loving you like you did.
“W-What?” He managed to let out.
“Wilbur. We barely have time for each other. And a relationship is all about that, spending time together. Even if it’s texting or calling. But.. no matter how many times I’ve talked to you about it or tried to fix this, my efforts were always ignored.”
He stared into your eyes. He knew this was happening but couldn’t the two of you fix it? Had he known he would lose you and that you would care this much, he never would’ve neglected you. Why would you want to do this? He loved you so much.. wasn’t that enough?
“We have to..,” your voice cut off, the sadness taking over with your tears softly dropping, “we have to accept that we weren’t meant an to be together right now.”
The chemical he was holding fell out of his hand, shattering like his heart on the concrete floor.
“Don’t do this, y/n.” He finally said before you walked away.
“I love you.. isn’t that enough for you to stay?,” his voice cracked, eyes watering with tears, “can’t you let me fix this?”
You smiled softly as you turned towards him, “I would. But the last time I did that, everyone assumed you were cheating on me.”
His eyes widened in realization. You had found out that he ditched you for Wendy. That’s what those angered stares were.. everyone knew.
And now everyone would know that he ruined your relationship, not the other way around.
You began walking away, the two of you letting your tears fall. A part of you hoped he would run after you. That he actually wanted to fix this, that he would make more time for you.
But he didn’t go after you.
Because he knew.. it was too late.
“It was never meant to be.” His heart shattered even more hearing his own words.
Wilbur quickly wiped up his tears before walking into the chemistry lab again. Wendy happily greeted him, but he ignored her, choosing to continue the experiment on his own.
On your end, the tears felt like acid on your skin. A memory fading once you realized you had done it. You knew how you felt for a while now. It only took Wilbur to ditch you for some other girl for you to decide you didn’t have the time for a relationship.
But you did hope that someday, the two of you could be friends. Because after all, you were friends before you were lovers. That’s what hurts the most. Deciding to fall in love with a close friend before it all backfires.
In the midst of your eyes getting blinded by the soft water running down them, you bumped into someone. Continuously rubbing your eyes, you apologized profusely before he came into view.
A boy stood there with a blue beanie, his brown eyes piercing into yours as you quickly blinked and looked away. You precious face beginning to heat up a bit.
“Oh I’m sorry,” he quickly apologized, “though you bumped into me so I think I’m the one who should be accepting your apology.” He chuckled, making you laugh a bit as well.
“Yea I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. Um, I’ve never seen you around? I usually greet new students.” You replied.
“Well, looks like you forgot to greet me today.” He smiled.
Something about him was weird. You felt a weird sadness that you didn’t get to meet him first. You smiled back at him.
“I’m y/n. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Willow Creek’s ASB President. That’s why I normally greet the new kids.”
“Ah, alright. I was beginning to think you were some weirdo.” Another laugh.
This was nice. A distraction from what just happened.
“Oh right, I’m Alex. You can call me.. Quackity. Yea, Quackity.” He proudly stated.
“Quackity?” You questioned.
“I needed a name for a game my brother wanted me to play with him. So we did this name generator from ToonTown. My brother chose it and it stuck as a nickname.”
“Nickname? We’re on first base already?” You joked.
“Mhm, I don’t know. Quisiera ser joyero para poder apreciar un diamante como tú todos los días.” He playfully smirked.
“Ah, ¿Dónde has estado toda mi vida?”
Quackity’s cheeks heated up a bit, surprised at the fact that not only did you flirt back but it was in Spanish.
“So you know Spanish.” He didn’t know what else to say.
“Ha, yea I do.”
You both looked at each other, wondering what this stupid feeling really was.
After you had left, Wilbur couldn’t handle himself. So he decided that no matter what it took, he was going to get you back. Because he loves you, he loves you so much. And he was sure you love him just as much. But when he finally found you, that feeling of hope he once had began to shatter once more.
“So.. can I ask why you were crying?” Quackity finally asked.
He definitely noticed. And he didn’t want to just ignore it. You were obviously in a bad mood so he had tried to cheer you up.
‘Who is this guy?’ Wilbur growled to himself, his anger slightly taking over.
You couldn’t have possibly moved on that fast, right? No, of course you didn’t. Then maybe..
Maybe you had found what you were looking for.
Wilbur noticed the look in your eyes as you watched Quackity. Maybe you weren’t aware of what you were feeling. But Wilbur knew. And he didn’t want to accept it.
“Um,” you started, anxiety building up inside you, “I just.. broke up with my boyfriend.”
The tears that had stopped began to fall again. Quackity frowned before debating whether or not he should comfort you. The two of you just met, but he would feel like a complete dick if he didn’t somehow make you feel better.
He softly pat your head before leaving his hand there for a few seconds, “things happen for a reason. If you broke up with him for good reason, then you shouldn’t feel bad. He should.”
Wilbur felt the tears appear again. You looked so happy looking at the boy the way that you were.
“But.. I love him,” a dry laugh escaped you, “he was such a great boyfriend at first.”
Wilbur felt himself smile, his heart softly beating at your words. So you still love him, okay, that’s good.
“But was he a good boyfriend up until the end?”
A growl replaced the smile, this guy truly was ruining his chances with you again.
“No. No he wasn’t.” You replied honestly, wiping the tears that had started falling.
“Then he doesn’t deserve you,” Quackity gave a few head pats to you again, “and you’ll love again, dummy. Your ex-boyfriend wasn’t the only cool guy in this world. There are many others.”
“Are you suggesting yourself?” You chuckled, making Quackity smile.
“Did that get through? That’s good. I thought you wouldn’t know that I’m tryna be with you.” He took his hand off your head and made a heart shape in the air with his two index fingers.
“Well, you’ve been accepted.” A small laugh coming from you.
“That’s great, moving on is great.” He softly poked your precious nose.
You sadly smiled in agreement. Quackity was truly right. You wanted this change. You needed this chance. You brought your watch up to your mouth before sighing and pressing a button on the screen.
“Natalie, remove: spend time with Wilbur from my schedule.”
“Understood. spend time with wilbur: now being removed from schedule.” Your watch assistant replied.
“How about I give you a tour? I have a few minutes before I have to get back to Activity Friday.” You offered.
“Yea, that would be nice.” The two began to walk off, abandoned memories finally giving you peace.
“GUYS, I FOUND Y/N!” You heard Ranboo’s voice yell as you turned in the direction. Sure enough, Tubbo and Tommy ran by his side and looked over at you.
“Uh oh, my freshmen found us.” You chuckled.
“Y/N, IS THAT A BOY?!” Tommy freaked out.
“No, my name is Alexis. I’m the new girl.” Quackity replied in a girly voice.
“Oh alright, a wooman. New friend for y/n.” Tommy crossed his arms in satisfaction.
“You idiot! He’s a boy! He was just faking some girly voice.” Tubbo complained.
“Shit! Run for it, our cover has been blown.” Quackity laughed before grabbing your arm, running into a different direction.
“OH NO YOU DONT- YOU GET BACK HERE WITH OUR N/N!” Tommy’s voice yelled before the two of you ran off.
You could get used to this. Letting him go was what was best for you. Regardless of the way you still felt about Wilbur. If you were truly meant to be, you would find him in the future at a time where you both have time for each other.
Besides, it seems.. Quackity has caught your eye.
“New message from Wilbur!” Natalie yelled from your watch.
You didn’t hear her, paying more attention to the direction you were running to as the three boys ran after the two of you. Quackity had heard Natalie though, he wondered if it was important since digital assistants hardly ever called out that someone had sent a text.
wilbur <3: yes, I know, I broke your heart like someone did to mine, and now you won’t love me for a second time. But I’m prepared to fight for us. I love you, darling.
You had seen the message later on when checking your messages, deciding it was best to ignore him. Wilbur needed to own up to his mistakes and give you space. You just wish you had known a relationship wouldn’t be good for either of you at the moment.
“It was never meant to be.” You whispered to yourself as you grabbed your bag from the ASB room, exiting out for the end of the day.
“Y/n? You coming?,” Quackity called out to you from the gate, “Tommy’s inviting us to lunch.”
“Like hell I am!”
“Oh come on, I paid for lunch last week and the week before that, it was n/n.” Tubbo elbowed him.
“I can pay for us.” Ranboo chimed in.
“Don’t be silly, boss man. It’s Tommy’s turn.”
“BUT HE OFFERED! WHYS IT GOTTA BE ME?!”
“PEOPLE ARE STARING, BE QUIET!”
Their voices became a distant memory as they walked out of the gate, you following after them with Quackity.
Yea. You could get used to this.
