General world stuff this time!(I fucking love world building)
Main hub & types of servers
First of all, there is a main hub where you can access ALL the servers. There's the public ones which are out in the open for anyone to join(ex:hypixel), there's the ones where you need ip and then you can join, and then there's private servers! Those you need to be whitelisted for and you can't see if not whitelisted.
You don't need to go to the hub to go to a server! Whitelist and IP ones are available to join through communicators!
Speaking of communicators, what are they and what do they do?
Communicators are little costumizable devices that one can use to type in "chat". Each person spawns in with a communicator designed for them!
Each server(including single player ones) have a chat! You need to be logged on a server to type in chat!
How are communicators costumized?
First of all, there's great changes in personality! When the communicator first spawns in along with the player, they take a design to match the players vibe,in a way! Fun fact:a communicator is considered a reflection of the soul in some circles! So,when someone goes through a DRASTIC change in personality, their communicator changes with them!
Then there's the second way which is just physically changing it! Despite being magical, communicators are still machines, and therefore can be changed like any other machine can! Although it is a biiit more difficult than redstone! So most people just put some stickers on it.
Some servers have special effects, either through mods or "story" .
For starters, let's go over servers affected by story!
Some servers, particularly roleplaying ones or, rarely, servers that have just been played a lot by a close group of people, will start to adapt to the people!
For example,a really well known story affected server is hermitcraft. Due to all the stories from all the different seasons, the server itself has started warping around the "soul" of each player! That also why each player needs to be agreed on by each member, otherwise the server might get a bit...wonky.
There are some instances of servers being affected by story, not due to the "soul" of the players but instead the "malice" buuut those aren't really relevant :). [Cough cough my dsmp au that I'm gonna make a different post on]
Now,lets go over servers affected by mods!
These servers can be either more stable or a lot more wonky than story affected ones, depending on what mods and how many of them.
Lifesteal as an example,is much more stable than Content smp due to only having one mod, unlike the whoever knows how many Content smp has.
Now,onto the specific servers(aka my favorite part :3333)
Due to the fact lifesteal is a server that has been partly influenced by both "story" and mods, the effects it has are complicated at best and alarming at worst.
Lets start with mod ones!
When killing someone, you steal a heart. Aka, "lifesteal": this is the basic one,the premise of the server so to say.
Pain dampening: in spite of the name, this mod is not only used to dampen pain,it can enlarge it as well. This mod gives each player the option to customize how much pain they want to feel from each thing! Anywhere from "no pain at all" to "UNBEARABLE". This doesn't actually influence how many hearts of damage one can get!
a player can choose for it to be physically manifested into a star(like the mod is intended) or into a literal physical heart. Most people simply press that heart near their communicator while some choose to eat it! Besides being somewhat morally dubious and getting them to be called "savages" in other servers, this causes no harm to either player! Hearts typically reflect the person they were given from in some way![but that's for another post ;)]
Believe it or not, hearts are not meant to be crafted! That developed through "story",given shape from the player's desires! Crafted hearts are always just blank stars. Fun fact: some players have stated that absorbing the crafted hearts feels like eating a very bland meal!
Unlike the lifesteal one, hermitcraft's pain dampening is completely based on "story". Due to this,it is both much more difficult to change it and to even start it for new players.
Unlike most servers where hybrid traits are something born with, hermitcraft's hybrid traits are... peculiar, let's say.
You see, instead of staying the same all the time, they change season to season! Two great examples of this are Grian's many avian froms and Xisuma's rapid change between all kinds of species. From a bee to an axolotl to even a copper golem, anything can happen with enough "soul"!
Despite what one might assume, the no fire spread was not a mod! It's something that developed over time due to the player's distaste for their builds getting ruined! Recently the fire has started spreading again, all due to some players collectively deciding to play firefighters!
Those are all the headcanons for now!
