Day 23

Cute Card: Hungry Lynx

The other hall of famer waiting on art is from Commander 2017.With a deck full of cats, certainly one had to win. Hungry Lynx was the top feline with its playful and sadistic nature. Dust Bowl is quite the hunter and quite the generous provider, looking to share +1/+1 counter rats with his friends.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Renegade’s Getaway Long gaps in time are long, but here’s some new art! As per usual, Maria of MtACast dubbed a cutest card in the newest set and this time a small little helper won the day. The brave metal boy from Renegade’s Getaway is doing his best to save his friend from the perils of Aether Revolt. With a puff of smoke, he’ll give you cover and distract even the surliest of Greenbelt Rampagers. With this line work, I’m one page closer to completing the coloring book for the MtACast. So keep an eye out for that if you wanna doodle on my scribbles.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: River Hoopoe

Oops, somehow I completely forgot to post the winner of Hour of Devastation. River Hoopoe was selected not only for adorable art, but for real world sounds. Big props to any creature that can remain this cute during the collapse of a world. Maybe it just has a positive outlook in this kind of situation. Sure, everything is crumbling and dying, but plenty of juicy locusts flying around.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Messenger Jays

Last overdue winner, but I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. Took me far too long to settle on a design though. Honestly, my favorite part is the message, had to practice my cursive a bit. The final touch of Marchesa’s black rose just makes me a happy Vorthos. I’m technically caught up, but there’s Commander cutest card coming out today, so time to dive right back in. Expect to see that one much soon. Just don’t expect a colored version as soon.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Thriving Grubs

I’ve been a bit behind on my Cutest Card winners, but finally got the line work done for Thriving Grubs. Practically another unanimous decision by Maria for our newest champion of cute. It’s easy to see why these chubby buggers are the most precious creatures on all of Kaladesh. They are well fed on a diet of Servos and getting hefty with +1/+1 counters. Unfortunately, I’m on a tight schedule so a colored version will have to wait, but I look forward to completing this.

Day 24

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Giant Tortoise

Been a bit behind on my cutest card winners, so I used today’s Inktober to work on one. Giant Tortoise was deemed worthiest out of all the card in Eternal Masters. His flavor text implies he’s a Bant tortoise so I decided to include an Alara native trying his best to move the stubborn beast. Can you guess who it is? I already have a cleaned up version of this, but I’ll post that later after color it.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Harmless Offering Time for the newest inductee to join the ranks of the precious elites, Harmless Offering. From a nightmarish set such as Eldritch Moon, it was easy for this one card stand above all others. Even Maria of MtA Cast, a connoisseur of cute, fell victim to the unanimous winner’s appeal. How could anyone resist? While feeling the twisted influence of Emrakul, this little furball won’t let that hinder it’s cuteness. The kitten, which I’ll dub Spooky, doesn’t mind his new home with his new friend, Graf Rat.

Cutest Card Hall of Fame: Erdwal Illuminator

Another set means another cutest card. As per usual, Maria of MtA Cast declared through many nightmarish creatures, that only a few made the cut. The winner she chose was Erdwal Illuminator since it’s a ghost out walking his lantern. I went with the description for my illustration and made it act like a dog going into a frenzy when it sees another of its kind. And what better lantern to feature than my favorite little Clue Lantern.
