#FIRSTonOneNETnews: Audio inter-multimedia broadcasting platform 'BlogTalkRadio' ends globally after nearly 2 decades
NEW YORK, NY -- From "True Capitalist Radio" to "Canterlot Radio", almost every time whenever you call-in, listen to your favorite music or simply join the conversation via chat during the online-only radio broadcasts in the United States of America (U.S.A.) as interactive podcasting and audio broadcasting platform 'BlogTalkRadio' announced late-Q4 2024 officially shutting down at the end of January 2025.
In a final newsletter obtained by PodNews, after nearly 2 decades of audio broadcasting, now expanded to the world including right here in Negros Island Region (NIR), the web-based radio hosting platform in the podcasting business, especially serving hosts, guests and listeners in a lower AM radio-style quality is a bit of the stale and useless to be marketed there without any advertisers or promotional materials during airtime schedule.
Citing from a final newsletter in part: "BlogTalkRadio will no longer be operating and we have to say goodbye to you, our loyal users. We are so thankful for the support and creativity that you have brought to our platform. We wanted to share this information with you now to ensure you have the opportunity to save and redirect your content to another platform or download your podcast to ensure its longevity", it quoted.
Listeners of BTR encouraged them to find different call-ins and LIVE audio podcasting platforms such as 'Live365' and their sister company 'Spreaker'. The website of 'BlogTalkRadio' and all of the services are permanently unavailable and inaccessible, meaning some programmes like "True Capitalist Radio" and "Canterlot Radio" shows on-demand presently become total lost media, except those who uploaded and archived for preservation in a different generation of new listeners in history. All social media channels of BTR will soon be deplatformed later this year.
BlogTalkRadio was founded in 2006 and is a web-based platform that allows users to create LIVE and on-demand talk format content for distribution across the web and podcast channels. It has a web-based studio where hosts can do multi-participant broadcasts using a desktop computer and a mobile phone to call-in, so it's accessible to independent content creators on free internet radio. The company was founded by Alan Levy and Bob Charish, with Levy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). BlogTalkRadio is based in the New York state so it's in the East Coast media landscape.
In January 2018, BlogTalkRadio was acquired by 'Voxnest' and later during the Coronavirus Disease-19 (CoViD-19) pandemic, it was lastly acquired by 'Triton Digital' which is expanding its reach and capabilities in the digital broadcasting space. The platform still has features like LIVE audio streaming, podcast creation and audience interaction tools so it's a great resource for podcasters and talk show hosts.
Even though, BlogTalkRadio affects loyal listeners online will always treasure the countless hours of LIVE audio programming, great conversations and unique content that are part of their weekly or daily routine. The legacy of BlogTalkRadio will live on through the countless podcast archives and memories it has created, it will always be a pioneer in the world of independent digital broadcasting.
