Animatic of an older Cedric the Owl, banished from the lands of Daventry, coming back for twofold revenge.

one against the Mad King Graham, who has put a bounty on his head.

the other, an old love of Cedric's he met on his travels, a serpent by the name of Nemain. Once a shoulder (or torso) to cry on during his days alone, shortly after Graham's betrayal, Cedric learns she is an assassin for the king, and was looking for a chance to kill him without his master's notice.

Cedric had once thought maybe Nemain had hypnotized his friend Graham into his rage, but has since accepted, the King always had a mind doomed to sickness.

finally ready to put an end to this, and empowered by magic from his master, the Crispin the Wizard, he storms the castle to slay the Mad King Graham, and the killer snake Nemain, should she try to defend him.

Nemain, empowered by a dark magic of her own, faces off against Cedric, in a fight for the future of Daventry, and vengeance for his friend's betrayal

and as art depicting a wiser, matured owl, facing a serpant he had once called his love, the chorus kicks in.

i know this seems like a bit for the pun, Alice Cooper's Poison is FAR too fitting, but DAMN do i want this to be a thing.

this poor owl needs some damn love.

also, dont assume because i picked a fem snake this has to be straight, i could see the fem angle also being part of the ruse, exploring the subtlety of snake sexes in the same way Beastars does.

also Nemain is a name of possible Celtic origin, to contrast Cedric. Cedric means bounty or loved, while Nemain could mean "to take, to sieze" or "poison"

Sierra point+click adventure games are so fun and punny and nostalgic. I love how this piece turned out. The magical music notes are from NSP's Dragon Slayer cause that seemed on brand.

Which is a video game series from the 80s that I have grown to love. They are so creative and interesting. I haven’t really played them much myself tho

the most annoying bird. endlessly memeable. he's supposed to be helpful but mostly he just flies above as king graham gets murdered or fricks up his quest. incredible voice acting, for some definition of incredible.
