cedric-finds-this-amusing replied your post I LOVE THAT SERIES! My boyfriend made me read them. <3
I think Im gonna steal them from him again to read. My favorite series ever was the Wind on Fire series (not Merlin related) and I managed to lose the first book. It pisses me off to this day.
:3 Stealing books is clearly the best way of showing affection. And I don't think I've ever read the Wind on Fire series... but I read a lot of Tamora Pierce when I was younger. (And older, and I would probably buy all the books if I had the money or could find them.) Not Merlin-related but definitely fantasy-related. I could go on for years talking about her writing. It's not, like, A+ the bestest, but her female characters are these strong women who don't take shit and it's just ugh and I love the romances because they're not forced at all, and the guys the women choose to stay with are all good, sweet guys who could probably stab someone in the guts for looking at them wrong but also take a step back from their women to let them fight their own battles and treat them with respect and UGH
sorry. I just have a lot of feelings about Rosto and George and Nawat and
OH
If you've never read Tamora Pierce, you should read Alanna the Lioness series because that was her first published series and seriously A+ on a YA fiction where the main focus was not on a guy and how that would change her plus she slept with three guys in a YOUNG ADULT fiction which was surprising to me when I read it because the usual is like, you stick with ONE and that guy is the ONE you love FOREVER and blah blah blah but she chooses *sniffles* and it's beautiful.
And then you should read Kel's series, Protector of the Small, because she does a lot of the same things- goes through knight training even though she's a girl in a typically boy-centered setting- and she has her romances but she doesn't end up with one. It breaks my heart that she doesn't but it's also one of the best things ever because both ways are good and
I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT TAMORA PIERCE SERIOUSLY I COULD WRITE DISSERTATIONS AND PAPERS AND SPEECHES AND MOVIES AND BOOKS ABOUT HER CHARACTERS.
