The following two statements are both true:
Star Trek has always been woke
Star Trek has always been corporate
Star Trek has always been internationalist
Star Trek has always been American
Star Trek has mostly been utopian
Star Trek has mostly been written by middle-class white heterosexual men
seen several posts now that are like "if nolan's odyssey left you wanting more, try these greek mythology texts" and its like. song of achilles and the silence of the girls. not actually greek texts. if nolan's odyssey left you wanting more, you should read the odyssey.

The official trailer for Hadestown pro shot (2026) recorded at the lyric theatre in London
Staring- Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Andre de Shield as Hermes, Amber gray as Persephone & Patrick Page as Hades.
I love love love that you can hear the audience gasp in the proshot when Orpheus turns around. I’ve only seen the musical live once, but it was downright magical being one of the audience members gasping. Because maybe it will turn out this time. But it doesn’t, of course. And you’re still surprised.
I didn’t gasp in the movie theater. But I loved being able to hear the audience and the bit of meta that comes from us, the viewer, reacting to them, the viewer, and… yeah.
Happy Hadestown proshot week to those who celebrate

odysseus isn’t good because he’s “good,” he’s good because he gets kicked around like a soccer ball and barely succeeds in scraping and clawing his way home, but not even the gods manage to grind him down to nothing. every single day i feel like making some version of this post.
The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and they’re frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.
I’m sorry but that’s thinking way too small, hear me out:
We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.
Think about it… who’s the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a moment’s notice?
It ain’t Kermit
