UM, SKC and Sitting Bull College Share NSF Grant

The National Science Foundation has awarded a team lead by UM faculty a $1.8 million grant to promote professional success for Native American faculty in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The project establishes the Willow Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professorate. The alliance is between UM, Salish Kootenai College and Sitting Bull College (Fort Yates, North Dakota).Principal Investigator is UM mathematics Associate Professor Ke Wu and co-principal investigators are Ruth Ann Swaney, Blakely Brown, Laurie Walker and Michael Patterson from UM and Steven Dupuis from Salish Kootenai College Steven Dupuis and Renae Schmitt from Sitting Bull College.

UM Receives NSF for Native American STEM Faculty

UM has received a grant from the National Science Foundation of $1,442,893 for support of the project, entitled "Collaborative Research: The Willow AGEP Alliance: A Model to Advance Native American STEM Faculty.” This award is expected to total $1,780,721. The PI is Ke Wu and co-Is are Ruth Swaney, Blakely Brown, Laurie Walker, Michael Patterson, in collaboration with Renae Schmitt at Sitting Bull College and Steven Dupuis at Salish Kootenai College.

UM Faculty has Lead Article in New Book

Just got an author signed copy of Mental Health Issues of Child Maltreatment ISBN 978-1-878060-18-1 from STM Learning Inc. Lead article is from our own Rick van den Pol and Richard Manning on “Child Abuse and the Emergence of the Diagnosis of Developmental Trauma.”
