Honest Opinion - Centaurus Babel

Overall score (character, not looks): 10/10

Ok, listen, Babel is one of the few Silver Saints that actually managed to be strong enough for his title. He fully deserves his score, I don’t have the heart of giving him less points.  Seriously, hadn’t it been for the Steel Saints (that are characters I absolutely don’t like, truth be told), I don’t think the Bronze could have defeated him. I mean, Hyoga only succeeded thanks to the Steel Saints, as he tried to attack Babel before but nope, fire won against ice.

Moreover, he didn’t even go down that quickly, even after being interrupted in his rampage. Babel survived the Diamond Dust like nothing, like a damn true Silver Saints (at least, at that point of the show, because yeah Hyoga becomes stronger and so on).

[Dub digression]

Despite the voice being maybe a little bit too old for him, it actually fits well with his appearance, so I can’t really complain. I liked it very much. 

Well, straight to the point. The voice actor is called Giovanni Battezzato. As always, some pieces of trivia are in order, right?  He voices other Saint Seiya characters, such as Cancer Deathmask (1st voice), Virgo Shaka (1st voice), and Sagitta Ptolemy. He also worked in a lot of animated series and a couple animated movies, videogames and so on.

But what’s the best thing about him? As soon as he appears, he’s heartbroken for his fellows. Sure, it’s not the kind of heartbroken that leaves you feeling bad for the character, but he’s angry and ready to punch someone in the face with fire. Figuratively and literally.  On top of that, upon dying, he saw Athena and recognized her, something that happened not so frequently during the series. Even Aiolia, a Gold Saint, didn’t recognize Athena if not thanks to Aiolos’ intervention. 

This particular thing gave Babel a lot of recognition, and a lot of importance in my view of the situation. Not only that, but he also said he wanted to be reincarnated, as to fight at her side for peace and justice.  If that’s not a real Saint, I don’t know who would be. 

More Babel, dammit!
