this was requested twice, but i never thought i would like this au until i wrote this so i might so a longer one for maybe josh?? anyways, hope you like :)
you had never expected your job as jeon wonwoo’s personal assistant to be a long-term thing. looking for a job to rely on whilst you worked on a different career seemed like a perfect solution, and the pay was generous. the only thing you hadn’t thought of, however, was how much time being someone’s personal assistant actually took up.
you would get texts, calls, voicemails, even emails at ungodly hours asking you for help organising an event, or to talk to someone at another company. the other thing you didn’t take into account was how much you would come to like wonwoo, or how enjoyable having him rely on you would be.
it was early on a tuesday and wonwoo wasn’t happy. a trade deal with another company had just gone awry and he had to deal with the fallout. he had taken it surprisingly well so far, but when the assistant of the other company’s ceo turned up out of the blue demanding to speak to him, you could see just how difficult it was for him.
as much as you didn’t want to talk to the angry man, you knew wonwoo had enough to deal with as it was, and seeing his lost face staring at the man through his office windows was enough to convince you.
you let yourself into his office and seeing the way he relaxed when he saw it was just you made you smile. “do you want me to deal with him?” you asked, watching as his eyes whipped up from his computer. he looked as hopeful as a child on christmas morning and you found the expression too perfect to say no to.
“would you?” even his voice was hopeful. you nodded and sent him a reassuring smile before leaving his office, making your way over to the assistant who was huffing from the waiting room chairs.
“hello, my name is y/n y/l/n, can i help you?” you used your usual business voice, enough to catch his attention but not too much that he would start shouting straight away.
“i want to talk to the ceo! this has gone on far too long, let me speak to him.” resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you took the seat next to him. you painted a patient smile on your face and talked calmly back.
“he’s very busy at the moment. if you leave your name and phone number, i’ll make sure he gets back to you as soon as possible.” he didn’t attempt to hide his distaste for your words and his voice rose over yours quickly.
“i don’t want to leave a message!” he shouted. the security guards standing at the door to the offices started to make their way over, hearing the commotion. “i want to speak to him now! i’m not leaving until i get to speak to him and give him a piece of my mind!”
usually, you would try not to shout back at people, but you needed to just to make your voice heard over his. “i’m very sorry, but he’s very busy. you can leave a message, or else you’ll be taken out by security without a chance to talk to him!”
if the guards weren’t already beside him, you were sure he would have stayed and argued all night, but he narrowed his eyes and huffed angrily once more before jabbing the button for the lift.
as soon as he was out of sight, you felt a presence behind you. turning, you jumped as you realised it was wonwoo, staring at you with apologetic eyes. “thank you, i’m sorry.” his smile was grateful and you couldn’t even be mad when he looked like that.
“don’t worry about it.” he stopped you from walking away by moving in front of you, blocking you path.
“let me buy you dinner as a thank you.”
“i don’t need a thank you, wonwoo.”
“then let me buy you dinner as a date.” you stopped in your tracks and turned back to face him. you didn’t fail to notice the pink dusting his cheeks, or his nervous eyes. he smiled when you looked at him, and you knew you would never say no to that. not when he asked so sweetly.
