might be copium but i dont think the dsmp season 1 ending was actually like as bad as people think it was? i know that sounds wild but like. here me out. i still dogshit and not written well but i think theres actually a little bit of an indication that its not as abysmally shitty as at first glance

for those who havent seen it yet it ended with the prison getting nuked with everyone inside and they all died, and then there was a white screen and the characters reappear in a new (?) world, seemingly not knowing who each other are. it ends with tommy asking dream if he wants to be friends and with him and tubbo not recognizing each other. which i dont like in the slightest btw. like its designed to make people curious about whats coming next sure but it does so in the worst possible way at the worst possible time and its a bit infuriating

the thing that gives me a sliver of hope though is tommy’s outro. in it he said that, going forward, the couple seconds of white at the end will be referred to as “the incident.” or something like that i dont actually remember lol. anyway i think that they’re taking some heavy fuckin inspiration from the mcu (which is also a pile of dogshit and not well written!) and the aftermath of the thanos snap and everyone getting un-dusted after it’s over, just based on the way that tommys streams have appeared with the fuckin. spiderman references and how this ending was also so heavily lifted from the disc finale from 2021 which itself was so inspired by avengers endgame and all that jazz

its honestly not surprising that the story sucked, given that its taking inspiration from a franchise that also sucks. still very unfortunate though and im just like. okay? fuckin do something better next time pls. anyway i say all this to say that i think its possible that they havent actually completely forgotten about everything from the first run of the world, and with the concept of the afterlife that exists within the dsmp..idk

i would also like to make it clear that i dont think this is going to be well written, at least not for a while. the dsmp hasn’t been good since people regularly streamed on it and i dont think we’re ever getting that back. but like, i think that there is hope and that they haven’t completely destroyed everything (just most things). also, to speculate a tiny bit, i dont think the ending is entirely just them going “hey you know what would be cool? if we all fucking died and undid everything!” i think that what’s happened with season 1 is that they wrote themselves into a corner where there was no possibility for a satisfying ending, and with the months and months of no lore and the conflict between irl time passing and time passing in the server, it just couldn’t be salvageable. once again, do i think this was a good idea? no. not at all, i think that this is taking a shitty route out of a shitty situation, although i understand why that choice may have been made.

while we dont really know anything about season 2 or whatever i sincerely fucking hope that whatever it is, if it ever gets made, has more coherent writing and that they don’t shoot themselves in the feet again with creating impossible stakes that can only end poorly

you know i feel like people on this site will often tell younger queer people who are a bit too into identity politics and slur discourse and whatnot that they should just go out and meet real queer people or go to pride or whatever and the benefits of that are sort of implied- you’ll see that most of the stuff people say on the internet about queerness and queer discourse doesnt matter and thats all good and dandy and stuff. but i think its kind of unsure of how exactly?

idk im moving to a new apartment and i was packing up my stuff, and i found one of my pride flags that i got last year at pride, and i’d bought it from an indigenous person who was selling like indigenous themed pride stuff in addition to the standard pride flags and bracelets and whatnot, and we wound up having a conversation about how difficult it is to change your name when you’re a more masc presenting person. they had a white sounding legal name and wanted to change it to something that better reflected their culture but struggled because they were masc presenting, even though the name they wanted to be their legal name was also pretty masculine sounding (to me at least, idk if it was in their culture). i’d shared that experience despite being a white person who was much younger than them, due to my more masculine appearance.

the first drag show i went to, there was a section at the end after all the like professional performers went where people in the audience could come up and do a little on the fly costume, just for sillies. and there were two people (very femme presenting), one in a bi pride necklace, and they got engaged on stage. i dont remember a single person who wasn’t just overjoyed to see queer love in public.

it really doesnt matter about what your identity is, it’s that we’re all queer and we’re, for the most part, all that each other have. and honestly that’s the attitude that i’ve come to both about queerness en masse and as a political thing, but also for myself personally. i’m queer and that’s really all i have to say about that. not that it’s bad for other people to have more to say about their identities, i just think that its more important to focus on our similarities rather than our differences, and that this is one of the only paths to liberation for all of us. idk just some thoughts tm, stay safe everyone and make sure you’re hydrated/eating/taking your meds and all that <3

hm does anyone know if theres like anyone who’s tried to transcribe the dream smp anywhere on the internet? cause it takes quite a long time for me to watch streams and get caught up and all that (like it takes me a week to watch a 2 hour stream) and idk i think it might be easier to do if things were written down and i could read stuff. idk though. anyways if anyone knows anything about that pls lmk!!! thank

#like. get a better writer im begging #cause like a lot of elevator pitches from them are good! or if not good interesting and complex enough to sustain a show #and then they pick the worst possible way to write it #their characters have no depth #the drama only evokes boredom #etc etc #i am watching the 100 and the idea is genuinely a very interesting one #like this is very clearly a political drama centered around immigration and colonialism but dressed up as a sci fi #and yet it says nothing about any of those issues #they must've known some of what they were doing #cause theres a whole debate about who has the right to the land in the show #and theres one group that calls another savages #and all this other stuff that makes me think it cant have been an accidnet #and then theyre just like. oh yeah the point of this is people being put in impossible decisions and killing each other #like nobody on this show is a good person. they are all horrible people and needlessly melodramatic #plus it's too damn dark to see anything #anyways..#ceros posting

anyway ctommy and ctubbo are adept foragers, they often didnt have much food at home growing up in lmanburg and when they got hungry while out and about they would snack on wild edible plants around the server like dandelions and wood sorrel. as a result they both still have stores of foraged herbs at home and also have built up a slight immunity to basic poisons derived from some wild edibles because they took the fuck around and find out approach to snacking
