His very first appearance and Jay Halstead could NOT stop himself from going on a date while undercover. A phenomenon which we’ll revisit in later seasons of P.D. Though if I’m remembering the plot correctly, then it actually was dating Gabby that got him the job at the Intelligence Unit in the first place because of Antonio’s reccomendation.

Severide was this close to being a daddy once upon a time...

But alas, the writers and producers of Chicago Fire and P.D. have a serious dislike for children for some reason.

I get that working with child actors and infants comes with obvious restrictions, but those two shows take that to a ridiculous level. From memory alone we have on Fire: Casey getting the custody of the Darden boys, but only for a short time after which they move away, never to be seen again. Casey breaking up with both Hailey and Gabby over having children together. Shay wants to have a baby but it doesn’t work out. Gabby has a miscarriage + the warning of the doctor not to get pragnant again. Gabby and Casey lose their foster child. Mouch’s daughter gets painstakenly introduced for exactly one appearance.

On P.D.: Voight’s son Justin dies. Olinsky’s older daughter dies, the other gets completely cut from the plot. Burgess has a miscarriage and all the other characters are childless except for Antonio.

We can conclude two things from all of this: if your children are older teenagers then chances are high that they either die or disappear, except in the rare cases where they were introduced as young children like Eva and Diego Dawson and the Herrmanns. But this plot armour only works for children after they get born, the survival rate for pregnancies is extremely low and only Boden’s son managed to be born alive. 

How does Chicago Med handle the survival of their children?

Can someone please make a compilation of all the times the Fire characters lived together?? They are already being made fun of in-universe and we need to continue with that spirit.

I’ve found some new faces in Chicago. Smells like a recurring character, but with main protagonist vibes. As if… he had his own show.

Atwater returns to his carrier building performance as a random background police officer with no speaking lines. It’s only going uphill from there.

However the fuck do the producers of P.D. think the show will function without this face being there to greet us every week?

I whish I could remember more clearly what I had thought about that scene when I first saw it. I had only watched one or two episodes of Chicago P.D. and I already knew who he was, so I was just confused at the game he was playing here. Sneeking around the bar and looking at their earnings, and then pretending to be to be a normal customer trying to charm the bartender.

In the end I was just intrigued at how they wanted to transition him into P.D. Because I only knew some plot elements from season 3(?), but how their cop show started was a mystery to me, so for a short time I thought that Jay actually had a criminal past instead of just doing some undercover work.
