Friday night Snatching
Friday night was my first real WOD at Crossfit Nordic. And funny coincidence. If thursday night class featured my all time biggest CF weakness friday night featured weakness #2. Snatch and OHS. This week is bringing it. So to speak. Warm up: 20 Shuttle runs while holding hand Koala bear walks (this is super awkward when paired with someone you've never met before, even more awkward when this somone is a dude. Basically he did a bearcrawl while I wrapped my legs and arms around him and hung around like a baby koala) 4x Scorpios Burpee progressions Tech: 30 minutes of Snatch progressions WOD: EMOM for 12 minutes 1 High hang power snatch 1 Hang snatch 1-2 OHS
I felt like I got pretty heavily blasted by the coach on every single movement. Might have been since it was my first class with this guy and he want to "check" me or it was in my head because I was in a crappy mood and felt out of my comfort zone. Could easily have been both. Since my lower back have been giving me all levels of hell lately I used a 10kg bar and stayed with it all through class. I also went VERY shallow on my squats, sometimes I settled for power snatching all the way through the sequence. I just focused on my speed getting under the bar, opening up my shoulders and staying on my heels. By the end of class I could OHS to full dept without feeling it in my lower back. Not even on saturday or sunday. Taking it easy and feeling my body out was obviously the right call. If I force it my lower back goes sore for days and that's just not right. After class I stayed and did a bunch of stretches. And my mobility have improved tons. I easily hung around in plow pose with legs fully extended for a long while. And in my widestanced legstretch (feet wide apart, head hanging low, hands to floor, flat back) I can now actually put my palm flat between my feet with legs locked out. I can even hold on to my heels. I don't even know how it's possible that CF has done more for my flexibility than yoga has. Or I take that back it's probably something in the mix of the two since I almost always do a few flows and stretches after the WOD. In all honestly it's probably got something to do with me changing my lifestyle from having a 9-5 stressful desk job. Sitting all day canät be good for anyone. But still, I expected getting stronger and more explosive from CF, but I thought it would work against me mobility wise. Really happy I was wrong! Aaaaawe #cflove
