unfinished wip - might update late but i just wanted to put here, thanks for all the likes on my karniss thing even months later.
You did your best to be strong, you're a paladin! Convincing yourself that there was no time for yourself, bottling all those negative feelings.
Today was hard. It was terrible. You wanted nothing more to just fall apart, slowly making your way to your room. Your shared room with Shiro. That thought made you feel better. You never indulged him with the information of how bad you felt currently, or what you do when you're like this.
"Baby.." His voice is heaven to your ears. Immediately your shoulders dropped the tension- Tears dance along your waterline. "Oh, baby.." your lips begin to wobble, your facade slowly cracking.
"H..Hi Shiro.." Biting your bottom lip, trying to wipe the tears building up. "Missed you today.." murmuring through the tears. Everything felt so… big. As if you had shrunk several sizes, the clothes clinging to your body felt tight at the same time.
“Missed you too.” He meets you halfway, arms wrapping around you. Safety. He didn’t need to ask how you were feeling. It was evident on your face as soon as you walked in. Leading you to the bed, he sits on the edge- pulling you on his lap..
“Breathe,” He whispers against your hair, positioning you in such a way that he almost held you like a baby if it weren’t your grown-size. His hand rubbing your biceps. The tears came rolling, paired with quiet hiccups..
“Hate today..” You cry, gripping Shiro’s shirt. “Hate!”
“I know, I know.” Shiro shushes you softly. He had seen you crumble enough times to know what to do, how to hold you, how to speak. He enjoyed it. He liked holding you as you cried, comforting you, tucking you into bed after it all.
For the agere prompts, number 15? Like little Keith gets all icky in maybe alien honey or sap and on top of that, he's a cranky baby who wants to avoid a bath at all costs? Cue caregiver of your choice trying to chase keith who managed to sneak out as soon as his diaper was off, toddling down the hallway and giggling? Thank you my dear, your writing is wonderful! Never fails to make me smile!!
Sorry if this one isn’t as fleshed out as some others! It was getting pretty long lol. I enjoyed writing this one.
Keith squealed excitedly and wiggled around impatiently in his chair as he saw Hunk walk in with breakfast. “Pancakes!” He cheered, reaching eagerly for the plate that was put down in front of him.
Hunk chuckled at his enthusiasm. “Do you want honey or syrup?” He asked the boy.
“Honey please!”
“Okay. Honey it is!” Hunk said. He picked up the honey and went to pour some over Keith’s pancakes, but the little stopped him.
“Can I?” He asked.
Hunk looked over to the boy’s current caregiver at the question, unsure if that was okay. Shiro smiled and nodded. “Thank you for asking nicely.” He said.
Keith grinned and took the container, then began to drown his pancakes in honey. When he decided there was enough, he put the container on the table and started to eat with his hands.
Shiro cringed at that, but didn’t stop him.
Lance chuckled at the other caregiver’s response. “He needed a bath anyway.”
Shiro sighed. “Yeah, you’re right.” He said as he watched Keith smear honey all over himself and his clothes. “Tag team?” He asked with a grimace.
“Yep.”
“Done!” Keith chirped, holding up his empty plate for his caregivers to see.
Lance stood up and went around to the little’s chair, smiling. “Good job buddy!” He cheered as he picked him up, not bothering to try to wipe off some of the honey. He would get just as sticky as the baby regardless.
He left the dining room and headed for Keith’s bedroom alone. Shiro would be following behind him out of sight so as to not give the little hints that he was getting a bath. “Did you go potty?” He asked the boy, keeping him distracted.
“Mn-hm.” Keith hummed.
“Okay. Let’s get you changed.”
Once they arrived at the boy’s bedroom, Lance laid him down on the changing table and helped him out of his sticky clothes. He took his time cleaning the little up, then neglected to put another diaper on him. Instead, he went over to Keith’s closet to pick out new clothes for him. “What do you want to wear buddy?” He asked.
“Red!” The boy yelled happily.
Lance grabbed a red t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants, folded them and put them in Keith’s diaper bag. He then slung the bag over his shoulder and picked up the little.
“Huh?” Keith asked, confused.
“It’s okay Keith. We’re gonna go see Daddy.” Lance soothed as he left the room and walked a few feet down the hall to the bathroom. The door was open and inside Shiro had already drawn a bath.
Keith immediately struggled at the sight of the bath. “No!” He cried, trying to wiggle out of Lance’s arms.
Lance held onto him firmly so he couldn’t escape. “Sorry buddy, but it’s bath time.” The teen brought him over to the tub and tried to lower him in, but Keith put his feet down in front of the tub and resisted. Sometimes they forgot how strong he was when he was little.
The caregiver loosened his hold for a second to lift up his legs and Keith took the opportunity to twist free. Before either caregiver could catch him, he was out the door.
“Keith!”
Shiro took off after him in the direction he ran, while Lance went another way to try to intercept. Unfortunately, Keith was too fast to catch up to, so they had to outsmart him. He knew this and giggled while he ran.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long to catch him. Keith took a wrong turn and unknowingly ran right in Lance’s direction. When the little saw him down the hall he stopped and hesitated long enough for Shiro to pick him up.
Keith burst into tears as he was lifted into Shiro’s arms. “No!” He wailed, struggling to be put down.
The man started walking back towards the bathroom. “You need a bath kiddo.” He said calmly. “I know you don’t like it, but the more you cooperate the sooner it’ll be over.”
The little cried all the way back. This time, Lance child-locked the door so he couldn’t slip out again.
Keith didn’t struggle as he was lowered into the bath, knowing it would only prolong his fate. Instead, he cried while the two caregivers washed him.
Lance shushed him. “I know, cranky boy. We’re almost done.”
Shiro lifted him out of the tub as soon as he was clean and sat him in his lap. “All done.” He soothed while he dried the boy off.
Keith sniffled unhappily and glared at him. Shiro cooed, “Still feeling cranky, huh?” He attacked the boy’s face with kisses until he heard him laugh, then pulled away.
#20 with keith, and for pushing the limits maybe with him being cheeky by thinking the new diaper texture the team bought is icky so he keeps on slipping out of them?
“Come here Keith. It’s time for a diaper change.” Shiro said as he rolled out the boy’s changing mat and got out all the other supplies he needed.
The toddler got up from where he had been sitting in front of the tv and went over to his caregiver. He laid down on the mat and turned his head back to the cartoon playing on the tv.
Shiro undid his wet diaper, cleaned him up, then slid a clean one under him. The boy frowned at the different texture and glanced down to the diaper. It wasn’t one of the ones he usually wore! The pattern on the front was different and the texture of the padding felt icky.
“Noo.” Keith whined in protest, wanting one of his other diapers. Not one of these icky ones.
His caregiver stopped at his whine. “No what?” He asked, not understanding what the boy meant.
Keith squirmed on the changing mat and frowned. “Diaper.”
“Oh. I’m sorry kiddo, they didn’t have the diapers we usually buy at the mall when we went shopping. It’s just for a little bit, okay?” Shiro explained.
“No.” The little groaned. “Icky.”
Shiro rubbed his belly soothingly. “You don’t like them? They don’t feel good?” He asked.
“Yea.” Keith nodded in response to both questions.
The caregiver hummed in thought. “Okay kiddo, I’ll talk to Coran and figure something out. But until then, you gotta wear these.” He said, patting the inside of Keith’s still untapped diaper.
“No.” The boy said stubbornly as he crossed his arms. He didn’t want to wear an icky diaper at all!
Shiro chuckled a bit at his protest. “Kiddo, you need to wear a diaper. I know it feels icky, I’m sorry.” He pulled the front of the diaper over the boy’s hips and taped it closed, ignoring the little’s squirming and whines as he did.
Keith started crying as soon as the diaper was on. He hated the way it felt! He would rather be naked than wear an icky diaper. The little couldn’t grab the tapes with his baby coordination, so he tried pushing the diaper off his hips.
His caregiver, who was cleaning up the changing area, didn’t notice until it was halfway off. “Hey!” He said as he grabbed the waistband of the diaper and shimmied it back to where it was supposed to be, then redid the tapes so it wouldn’t fall down. “If you’re gonna try to take it off, you’re going to have to wear pants.” He warned.
“No!” Keith hiccupped. He didn’t like wearing pants either. The boy was used to running around in just a diaper, which was something that Shiro started so he could see when he was wet. Pants were constricting and not fun to play in.
“Okay then.” Shiro lifted the little into his arms and patted his back. “Let’s go talk to Coran now, okay? Who do you wanna bring with us?” He asked, motioning to the boy’s stuffed animals.
“Black.” Keith sniffled.
*****
While Shiro and Coran discussed what to do about the diaper situation, Keith was allowed to play with his stuffed animal on the floor. He was still upset and grumpy, so he just sat there and hugged his black lion with a scowl on his face.
Then, after a few minutes, the adults walked to the back of the med bay. The little realized they were distracted and hid behind an exam table. He didn’t care what Shiro said, he wanted this diaper off!
A minute later, he managed to wiggle the diaper off and hid it in a drawer nearby. If Shiro couldn’t find the diaper, he couldn’t put it back on him.
He sat down on the floor and picked up his plushie again, in a much better mood now that the icky feeling was gone. He played with Black to entertain himself while he waited for the adults to come back. Then he wouldn’t have to wear the icky diapers again, because his caregiver said that Coran was gonna get him new ones.
The little played for a while before he heard a laugh from above him. He looked up to see Coran smiling down at him. “Hello, my boy. You really don’t like those diapers do you?” The man said as he crouched down to his level and picked him up, then sat him on the table he’d been sitting behind.
Keith shook his head. “Icky.”
Shiro came up to them next, though his reaction was not as amused. “Keith!” He scolded lightly. “Where did you put your diaper?”
“No.” The boy huffed.
Coran chuckled again. “Don’t worry about it Shiro, I’ll find it later.” He said to the other man before he turned his attention to the toddler. “I think I have something that will make the diapers feel better. Want to try it?”
“Hey baby. Wanna go to the park?” Shiro asked as he crouched down beside his little, who was watching cartoons on the tv. He had planned a play date with one of the boy’s best friends as a surprise, and it started in a few minutes.
Keith gasped and nodded excitedly. “Park!” He cheered, reaching up to his caregiver to be held.
Shiro chuckled as he lifted him into his arms and kissed his cheek. “Okay baby, we’ll leave in a minute. But first you gotta go potty.” He said, carrying the little towards the bathroom.
“Noo.” The boy groaned, squirming unhappily. “No potty.”
“You’ve been going potty all week baby! You know how to do this.” The man said encouragingly as he entered the bathroom and closed the door. He put Keith down on his feet and pulled down his pants and pull-up, then sat him down on his potty.
Keith huffed and crossed his arms. “No.”
Shiro wasn’t bothered by his protests. Keith always needed a minute to warm up to his potty before he would use it. “Do you want to bring your ball to the park?” He asked, trying to distract the little from what he was doing.
“Uh-huh.” Keith mumbled.
“Yeah? What else do you want to bring?”
The boy thought for a moment. He absentmindedly began to swing his legs as he relaxed. “Lion.” He said.
“Okay baby, we can bring your lion.” Shiro agreed.
Keith smiled again, happy that he could bring his favorite stuffie with him. Shiro took that as a cue that the boy was comfortable again. “You gonna potty so we can go get her?”
Keith nodded happily, continuing to swing his legs while he went. “Done!” He chirped as he stood up.
“Good job!” Shiro praised. He cleaned the boy up, fixed his clothes, then helped him wash his hands. He opened the bathroom door for the little and patted his bottom. “Go get your lion.” He said.
