Snowy mountains
Another lesson from the environments in Blender course by CG Boost Academy (https://www.cgboost.com/courses/master-3d-environments-in-blender). This time scene is created procedural with just nodes. Only the rock and snow textures are from external free sources.
I made this little magic shop diorama for a CG Boost Competition.
The theme if you couldn't guess was Magic Shop and we had a month to make a new bit of art and had about 3 weeks to get it done.
It was a lot of fun throwing together random magic-esk items. I even accidentally stumbled on a cool trick to making a fancy glass jar which can be seen on the top shelves. The detail is a little lost at a distance and with the glowing potion but up close I though it pretty neat.
Its been roughly 3-4 years since working on this project from CGBoost but I'm finally getting back to it and working my way though blender.
Its a bit weird, in the past when designing was my job I was burnt out quite a bit with the stress of needing to make products but I had the time and resources to get larger chunks done.
Now with the new job, time and physical energy is a bit more limited but the desire to create and learn is kinda coming back but I also don't exactly have a goal in the same way product production pushed me.
Jumped back into blender after about a year. Starting back with the cubic worlds class from CGBoost.
Made a character of human me and Tram and spent the week rigging Human me and then making the quick little door and wave animation.
very clunky but the rust is kind of shaking off. The longer summer days are helping me not feel like I need to crash into bed as soon as I get home which has helped a lot.
I'm learning how to model 3D environments in Blender, so that I can eventually place my Siderian models in a landscape and give them some background.
I'm doing this course: Master 3D Environments in Blender, from CGBoost.
This is the result of the fifth lesson: creating a desert landscape with the node-based workflow.
CGBoost just put out there beginners sculpting course for blender out on youtube. It's been available for free on their website for a few months but now its in a convenient place for everyone.
I highly recommend it if you've ever wanted to dive in to the basics of sculpting in blender.
I went from having no idea how to use any of the tools to making my own moai inspired sculpt in a matter of days.
