This is Soup. He's a sweetheart and a shiny medic of the Coruscant Guard. He loves soup and always asks, where he could get some
"I think I do have a picture, give me a second to look it up."
Soup takes his pad and starts searching for a specific holo. In the meantime he answers Wren's other question.
"I've always had a tendency to physical therapy and I guess the Kaminoans were quite happy about that. There are problems that can't be solved with some kind of medication, you know? Sometimes the spine just needs to be set right again for example and that's where I can help. So if you ever have a sprained ankle, just come to me.
He seems to have found the right holo now, holding out the pad to Wren.
"I made this for one of my batch mates on Kamino, it's one of my best I think."
The picture shows a bracelet made from several thick wires next to each other. A thread of thinner wire was weaved through them in a pattern of squares in different sizes.
"Took me ages to find the right wires for it."
Wren nods. “That makes sense. When you put it like that, I guess the therapy I did after getting my implants would count - but that was shortly after my first deployment and before I was assigned here to the Guard. Since then, the only pains bacta can’t fix are my shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands; that’s what I get for signing every one in five conversations, though,” he shrugs easily.
He looks at the holo Soup shows him and oohs appreciatively. “Soup, that’s amazing. It’s simple yet very elegant. Honestly, it’s much prettier than the trinkets I see most natborns wear, and they pay thousands of credits on some of their pieces.” Wren looks up at him with a grin.
“You know, if you really wanted, I bet you could sell things like this anonymously on the holonet for quite a few credits, build yourself a small fortune for after the war or more materials.”
[... Dang. Soupclone popped up outa nowhere. I was very excited to see him. But he doesn't know Toast?? O.O My hcs are dyiiing and I have questions.
...
Hey Soup Clone, is your name Chowder?]
Soup look very thoughtful while scraping the last remnants of his chowder out of his bowl.
"I really could use some new tools, mine are a bit crude, and I might be able to get wires that are made of more valuable metals than copper or brass. Could we maybe meet again at some point? I need some time to make a few more samples that I can show you. I suppose you are the best judge, whether people would want them or not."
Wren smiles kindly. He just can’t stop smiling at the younger vod it seems. “I’d love to meet up again when you have time, Soup’ika - is it alright if I call you that? But whenever you’re ready, just comm me, and I’ll make sure to grab another kind of soup for you to try.” He winks, smile stretching into a grin. “In the meantime, I’ll do a little research and keep an eye out for some more materials you can use. And maybe some reference holos. I have a lot of access to flowers, so I can always take holos of those, but I could also get you some datachips about other cultures to see if you like any of those designs?”
Soup tries the chowder with an almost concentrated look on his face, which lights up with joy though when he tastes it. Seemingly very happy with his food, he keeps eating while listening to Wren.
"Thank you for the warning, I'm absolutely gonna keep that in mind. By now I've heard so many scary stories about natborns and Senators in particular, that I'm gonna try to stay completely clear of them anyway, if possible."
He said it very seriously, but the question about his hobby makes him smile again.
"Oh, well, I collect scrap from broken droid parts or anything similar that's made out of metal and I turn it into tiny things like figures or some kind of jewellery. My hands are very steady, that's why I'm able to do delicate stuff like that."
Wren bites back a fond smile at how much Soup seems to be enjoying his… well, soup.
“I bet your pieces are lovely,” he compliments. “You’ll have to show me sometime. I might even commission a piece from you if you’re okay with that.” He takes a moment to eat more of the chowder. “So, with steady hands, I’d assume you specialize in surgery?”
"I will remember it", Soup answers, smiling widely with affection for his ori'vod. Wren is one of the rare people, who had ever really listened to him, showed interest in him, and it lights up his heart.
"I'm gonna head to my bunk, good night and sleep peacefully."
“Goodnight, Soup’ika,” he answers, still smiling, then promises, “I’ll see you soon.”
They share a final smile, and Wren watches his newest vod walk away for a - hopefully - gentle sleep. After a moment he turns back to the table and picks up the dishes and the empty can. He’ll take care of these and then work on sending Soup those holos.
He can’t wait until they talk again.
"Yeah, that's where I got them from", Soup says and stands as well.
"Ill see you around then?", he asks with and excited smile.
Wren smiles and nods. “Of course, Soup’ika.” He places a hand on Soup’s shoulder and draws the shiny into a brief, gentle kov’nyn. When he pulls back, his eyes are warm with affection. “Stay safe, kid. And remember, if you need me for anything, you have my number.”
With a last squeeze to Soup’s shoulder, Wren lets go and steps back.
Soup nods as Wren asks about the nickname, smiling happily about it.
"This sounds absolutely wonderful and flowers are always a good inspiration for me. There weren't many of them on Kamino. Maybe I never had many ideas on what to do, cause everything around me was just so dull?"
His eyes shine bright with new ideas that he could try. He already has at least one thing in mind.
"I can give you my comm number, so you can reach me easily and vice versa."
“Great! I’ll take some holos for you then. And that could be; I know when I first saw the flower arrangements in the Senate Building, I was shocked at all the colors and shapes and sizes. Now there’s very little I love more than any kind of flower,” he chuckles.
When Soup mentions exchanging comm numbers, Wren groans theatrically. “I can’t believe I didn’t think of that before. Here.” He pulls his personal comm from his belt and hands it over.
“Put your number in here. This is my personal comm, and it has basic encryptions in place. Anything you send to or receive from it won’t be traceable. It also means that we won’t clog up a personal channel on the Guard server. Not that they really care,” he admits, “but I’ve learned I’d rather be safe than sorry.”
