This is a very long picture but I wanted to get Robin’s whole speech in here because I love it a lot. I feel like sometimes people forget Robin’s worked for organizations like Baroque Works and it’s been implied she’s done some...less than good things in the process, but by now instead of denying that part of herself and trying to run away from the whole ‘demon child’ label she’s instead accepting it and acknowledging that if it can help her friends, maybe it’s not entirely bad.
Finally we see her fight and she's... Such a badass....
So chapter 1005 huh
Is he monologuing mid-fight? This is new levels of crazy
OP 1005 SPOILERS when robin saves sanji with a quote about the devil in wano just like sanji helped saved robin with a quote about devil in enies lobby
Chapter 1005 — Devil Child
What a great chapter, once again!
More insight into Robin; she’s come so far from Water Seven.
It’s so nice to see her accept her crew’s love and their trust in her. Sanji knew she was going to come and save him and that Black Maria wouldn’t be a problem for her so it’s fine to leave them — and Robin is so happy at having his trust. It’s just a very unexpected and sweet moment and character exposition all at once.
Speaking of character exposition; Black Maria is so interesting!
Look at that face, enjoying a lil’ light torture.
It’s also very, very rare for Oda to show a woman a) engaging in such an amount of excessive violence and b) enjoying it. I think the only other character to be portrayed similarly was Sadie in Impel Down, and she had more of a dominatrix-vibe going on.
Black Maria just enjoys hitting Sanji very much.
It makes me wonder about chapter 982, where she seems worried about Momo. Maybe it’s because he’s a child?
She’s also hitting Sanji hard enough for the web to keep bouncing once he asks her to stop.
That’s some serious oomph behind those punches.
Now that business is taken care of, let’s get personal...
Also, Sanji; did you really expect her to let you go? You poor summer child.
Well, at least you know your weaknesses..
