I did not think I would get this excited just scraping the surface of zanpakuto lore!! Gimme more zanpakuto lore, I'm gonna chug that shit like it's a tall can of Arizona iced tea.
Even disempowered and unarmed?! I wonder if she was banking on Renji not being willing to hurt her too badly here, despite everything...or if she didn't have that faith but was 100% to take that risk anyways, just to buy Ichigo a chance.
Ichigo's sure getting cocky in his second wind. I'm starting to think this was an early sign of his inner Hollow getting closer to emerging.
And then the very next page or anything--no fanfare or big flourish, his sword is just suddenly missing a chunk. OOF, the impact of that.
Oh, buddy. You have a lot to learn.
And again! No flashy movements or telegraphing--really, no visual indication of what just happened. It's so menacing how casually Byakuya is just suddenly THERE behind him, and a few seconds later Ichigo is spurting blood. Really helps to drive home just how out of his depth Ichigo is here.
BH remake ch 55
The scene where we see Blow in front of the dragon full scale for the first time used to be from Blow's back, but is now from the side.
In the old version, Blow says that he doesn't feel malicious energy from it and it doesn't look like it wants to attack.
But in the new version he instead says that it doesn't feel like a demon, and he's never felt anything like it before.
There seems to be a change here, as in the old version he did seem to be clearly analysing the energy of the inner intent (something he also does later when Elzeble creates the barrier around Helios and says he unpleasantly feels "nothing" from him, contrasting with our dragon here). But the new version seems to analyse the mysterious entity's external energy, with Blow now observing that it isn't a demon or anything else he's encountered before.
His expression is also different, looking cautious before but simply bewildered now.
Following this, in the old version when the dragon approaches him he's confused and anxiously considers whether he should run while being unsure if it's necessary since he doesn't feel any ill-will from it.
In the new version we get added dialogue where he correctly observes that the dragon is simply sniffing him, and simply stands in place until he realises its getting too close too late.
In the new version Heil says to Blow "No matter how strong you are, you are just a human!" The dialogue seems to be different in the old version saying "No matter how strong you are, you are nothing in front of his power!"
The new version seems to elude to the fact that the mastermind behind all this is not human, despite Blow not getting any direct answers out of him about his identity whereas the old version yielded no results to his repeat attempts at gathering info at all.
In the old version, as the dragon carries Heil off, Blow thinks "I hope he's not planning to eat him..." while in the new version he simply questions "Did he really come here to take him back?"
Again, Blow seems more composed and understanding of the dragon's intentions in the new version while in the old version his inner reaction was the same panic and confusion everyone else would have too.
In the old version we got a few extra panels of Blow reacting in confusion to the students sparkling gaze which are absent in the remake:
The remake instead features the panels before and after this moment.
In the old version when the portal opens up we actually see Blow instantly react taking cover behind the boulder, along with Lidusis noticing and reacting.
But in the new version it instead cuts straight to Blow hiding behind the rock next to Lidusis.
So cute ;__;
