You know what, guys? I wouldn't want Urahara to be my doctor. I don't think my weak, nervous heart could handle his methods. Or his bedside manner.
Master of misdirection!
That looks incredibly uncomfortable! I assume from the lack of blood or indicated pain (I mean...aside from the pain of landing after such a long fall) that at least those rods aren't going IN his arms.
Oh, God, the little mouths are just FREAKY. Why do they have spiky tongues?!
Chapter 61: "The Demon"
October 19, 1998
honestly, this man is going to blow my mind
BH remake ch 61
In the old version Rood was straight up leaning against the window sill itself (maybe to look more natural as he observed) and it was more noticeable when he moves to hide reflexively. In the new version he already seems fairly distant from the window already like he meant to stay out of view in the first place.
Bro you have literally no reason to hide he can't even see you anymore.
In both versions, Camille gets excited over Orphell as their new teacher. But in the old version she seems to admire him romantically asking his age and wondering if he's single. In the new version she seems to admire him as a magician instead, commenting that he must be skilled and wondering about his rank. (Well, after staring an old bookworm like Heil everyday who can blame her either way.)
I didn't really mind the old version since it is (unfortunately) a realistic reaction to see from teenage girls who got a hot teacher... but I definitely prefer the version of the remake which is more fitting for the setting of a magic school and has more plot relevance to us as the audience (now it makes us wonder these questions too... and hints Rood himself might also be thinking the same things but not in a positive light).
While it's something purely visual, I found it interesting that when Iel asks to speak to Rood in private the old version had neutral coloured characters react, but the new version it's in colour...
..Which shows us Lin and Camille reacted in shock too! (Something which was likely still there before but I did not gather from the old version at all, and was subsequently highly amused by. Wdym Iel asking to speak to a guy is THAT big of a deal-)
When Dayner asks Master to understand her feelings as a mother, the old version features her seemingly nearly weeping looking quite pitiful to the point Master can't say anything. The new version shows the scene from afar instead and has a more imposing feel, making it seem like Master can't say anything for fear of consequences for himself. (Though this could just be me reading in too much due to the difference in angle.)
I find it interesting that we got total content synchrony in this chapter: both start with classmates reacting to Lidusis in class, cover the exact same content, conclude with Lanoste informing Shicmuon of him being sent to Helios while being given a Hereis uniform.
Just that the chapter numbers don't correspond directly, being old version ch58 and new version ch61.
