[AMELIA] Have a seat, Christopher.
[CHRISTOPHER] Yes, ma’am. What did you want to talk about?
[AMELIA] Obviously, you are dating my daughter. She is the Crown Princess of Gardania and one day she’ll be queen. Ever since you two started dating years ago, I’ve had my eye on you. Just making sure everything’s okay, you know?
[AMELIA] You studied Economics, subpar grades, not a very good GPA but you did get your degree in the end. C’s do get degrees. Compared to your brother, you didn’t do any military service.
[AMELIA] He has quite a couple of achievements, I sadly cannot say the same for you. You don’t support any foundations or charities in Monaca, your total of engagements last year was just twenty-four.
[AMELIA] Is there an illness no one’s aware about that prevents you from representing your grandmother?
[CHRISTOPHER] No, ma’am.
[AMELIA] And your apartment, your cars and bank accounts aren’t on your name but your father’s, correct?
[CHRISTOPHER] My apartment is mine.
[AMELIA] You bought it with your money, then?
[CHRISTOPHER] ...No.
[AMELIA] Hmm, I guessed so.
[AMELIA] Christopher, I need you to be honest with me. I love my daughter so much. I have no doubts you do too. Do you anywhere in the near future, plan to marry my daughter?
[CHRISTOPHER] ...Yes.
[AMELIA] I appreciate the sentiment, truly, love is wonderful and so is seeing my daughter so happy. But this conversation just proved to me, you aren’t ready for marriage.
[AMELIA] You have depended on your family name for everything and have accomplished next to... nothing. It pains me to tell you these things, but you cannot marry my daughter.
[AMELIA] As of now, I wouldn’t give you my blessing. You have the luxury of being miles away from the throne, but Emilia is the heir. If this were different, if we were all regular people, of course I’d welcome you into my family.
[AMELIA] We can’t waste our time on fantasies, though. I am deeply sorry.
[CHRISTOPHER] ...I—I don’t know what to say.
[AMELIA] It’s okay.
[CHRISTOPHER] Ma’am, I—I do love Emilia. A lot. I can change, I can be better.
[AMELIA] Don’t you think it’s too late for that? It’s been years.
[CHRISTOPHER] Please, give me a chance. I can prove that I can— I can stand next to her.
[AMELIA] ...
[CHRISTOPHER] Please, ma’am, I know that I can—
[AMELIA] Emilia is going on a little tour of sorts starting in two weeks. She has her schedule full of engagements. Tell your father you will attend these too. Independently, not as Emilia’s boyfriend, but as a Prince of Monaca. This is the last chance I’m giving you.
[AMELIA] Since you barely attend events or leave your apartment, I’m guessing you don’t have an assistant. I’ll send her schedule to your father’s office.
[CHRISTOPHER] Thank you, ma’am. I really appreciate it.
[AMELIA] No need to thank me. Consider this a gift, as a mother who cares for her child, since your parents didn’t bother to give you any experience or lessons, I’ll have to give you some myself.

[CHRISTOPHER] Did you read the Magnolia Post’s article about the tour?
[EMILIA] You don’t have to worry about those.
[CHRISTOPHER] But did you read it?
[EMILIA] Yes, Chris, I did. I had a whole debrief with my mom and Sarah. It’s really not that bad, at least here in Gardania. People did like you.
[CHRISTOPHER] Alright, fine.
[CHRISTOPHER] I still think I could’ve done better.
[EMILIA] I wasn’t good at all for years! it’s all just experience. Maybe we can do another little tour during the summer.
[CHRISTOPHER] I thought of maybe talking to my dad about taking more of—of an active role of sorts.
[EMILIA] Is that a good idea?
[EMILIA] Why not wait until I’m in Monaca and we can talk to your father together. Even maybe your grandma.
[CHRISTOPHER] I think... I should do this alone.
[EMILIA] I—I guess that’s fine. I just wanted to be there since your grandma does like me and I want to support you but.. it’s fine!
[CHRISTOPHER] No need to remind me my grandmother likes you more than she likes me.
[EMILIA] I—I didn’t say that! She likes you a lot.
[CHRISTOPHER] Yeah... yeah, she does. I’ll call you when I land, okay? I love you.
[EMILIA] I love you too. I’ll miss you.
[CHRISTOPHER] I’ll miss you too. See you soon.
[EMILIA] Yeah...See you.

[EMILIA] Finally you pick up!
[CHRISTOPHER] Sorry, I was getting dressed. I’m about to leave to have with dinner with my mom.
[EMILIA] Oh! With your dad too?
[CHRISTOPHER] He’s not coming. It’s just me and my mom, my dad’s busy.
[EMILIA] Is it... a celebratory dinner!? Does this mean your grandma said yes!?
[CHRISTOPHER] ...
[EMILIA] Chris?
[CHRISTOPHER] She—She said she didn’t think I was ready for an active role for the firm. That maybe in the future she’d reconsider.
[EMILIA] I’m sorry, Chris. She can join us on our little tour next time so she sees how good you are!
[CHRISTOPHER] [chuckles] I don’t think either of us want my grandmother and your mom in the same room together.
[EMILIA] Really though, Chris. You can move here in the summer and you can join me.
[EMILIA] Show your grandmother what you’re capable of. She’ll definitely change her mind.
[CHRISTOPHER] This summer?
[EMILIA] Mhm! Since I’m moving back to Gardania.
[EMILIA] You can always spend as much time as you want here, with me.
[CHRISTOPHER] And leave our penthouse behind?
[EMILIA] Be serious! Gardanian weather is so much better than Monaca’s.
[CHRISTOPHER] If my grandmother heard you, she’ll actually never let me represent her again. I have to go pick up my mom before she thinks I forgot about her.
[EMILIA] Alright! Say hi to her for me, please. Drive safely, I love you~ I’ll call you later tonight.
[CHRISTOPHER]. ... I love you too. Bye.
[EMILIA] Hmm.

[CHRISTOPHER] ???
[CHRISTOPHER] emi?
[CHRISTOPHER SIGHS]
[CHRISTOPHER] it’s fine.
[EMILIA] Chris.
[CHRISTOPHER] Emilia? What are you doing here!? I thought you came back on Friday—
[EMILIA] You cut your hair.
[CHRISTOPHER] It—It was getting long, my mom thought it was a good idea for me to cut it—
[EMILIA] You’re lying to me, Chris. I know you’re leaving.

[PAULA] I have to make a phone call, you’ll be fine, right?
[EMILIA] Yes! I’m literally twenty-five, you know? I can take care of myself.
[PAULA] Yeah, right. I’ll be back.
[SINGER] This next song was requested by Mr. Martin Goldberg for his beautiful wife, Raquel Goldberg. They’d love to see all couples on the dancefloor with them. Thank you.
♫♩ Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you" ♫♩
♫♩ Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me ♫♩
♫♩ Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me ♫♩
♫♩ While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me ♫♩
[???] May I have this dance?
[EMILIA] Excuse me, please don’t—
[EMILIA] Chris?
[CHRISTOPHER] Emilia. So?
[EMILIA] What are you doing here?
[CHRISTOPHER] I’m here as my girlfriend’s date to a charity gala.
[EMILIA] You said you hated these.
[CHRISTOPHER] With you, I can tolerate them. So, the dance?
[EMILIA] Fine, but don’t step on my dress.
[CHRISTOPHER] You look amazing, by the way.
[EMILIA] And stop staring, my eyes are up here.
[CHRISTOPHER] Being serious... I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gone to the match at all. I knew this was important for you and yet I still decided to go anyways. They could’ve easily replaced me, I was selfish.
[EMILIA] It’s alright, Chris. I forgive you. We have to start better communicating. I want you to be more open with how you feel. You don’t hide things from me.
[EMILIA] I won’t judge you. Ever.
[CHRISTOPHER] I know. I don’t want to disappoint you. I’m just not used to talking openly about them.
[EMILIA] We’ll take it one step at a time. I’ll be there all along the way.
[CHRISTOPHER] Thank you. I’m sorry again, I love you.
[EMILIA] I love you too.
[CHRISTOPHER] Where?
[EMILIA] To the hike. Don’t worry, keep sleeping. If you need anything, Mr. Laurent will be around.
[CHRISTOPHER] Okay.
[EMILIA] Don’t sleep until noon. I’ll see you later.
----
[CHRISTOPHER, thinking] Cute.
[AMELIA] Christopher?
[CHRISTOPHER] Ma’am?
[AMELIA] I expected you to join Emilia this morning. She asked me to make an exception to let you join us despite it usually being a family tradition.
[CHRISTOPHER] Thank you for that, ma’am.
[CHRISTOPHER] I went to bed late last night, I—I didn’t wake up in time to join you.
[AMELIA] It seems we both missed this morning’s hike.
[AMELIA] It's a pity a meeting made me miss time with my loved ones, I’m sure you know the Crown is something we both have to put first before anything else.
[CHRISTOPHER] Of course.
[AMELIA] Talking about meetings, now that you are here, I’d like for us to talk. Please follow me to my office. I’ll be brief, you can continue your tour later.
[CHRISTOPHER] Yes, ma’am.

[EMILIA] Why are you hiding?
[CHRISTOPHER] I’m not hiding! My mom called, if I answered downstairs your mom would’ve thought I was rude.
[EMILIA] True, but you missed dessert. Now she’s gonna think you didn’t want to eat it.
[CHRISTOPHER] Seriously—
[EMILIA] I’m joking, she saw you had to answer a call. Don’t be so tense.
[CHRISTOPHER] I can’t help it. Your mom makes me too nervous.
[EMILIA] She’s coming with us on the hike tomorrow.
[EMILIA] There’s not going to be an upstairs to hide, you will have to talk to her.
[CHRISTOPHER] I thought that was a ‘family-only’ thing?
[EMILIA] You can come.
[CHRISTOPHER] Are you sure that’s alright?
[EMILIA] Mhm. I asked everyone downstairs!
[CHRISTOPHER] You asked her in front of everyone?
[EMILIA] She couldn’t say no that way. You can come, that is if you do wake up. It’s at four in the morning.
[CHRISTOPHER] Four!?
[EMILIA] Yes, we all wake up early. You’re the only person in this house who wakes up at twelve in the afternoon.
[CHRISTOPHER] You mean Alexander and I.
[EMILIA] Yeah, don’t— don’t really compare yourself to Alexander in front of my mom tomorrow. Bad idea.
[CHRISTOPHER] Noted. I’ll wake up before you, you’ll see.
[EMILIA] Mhm, not when you snore so loudly you wake me up at three in the morning.
[CHRISTOPHER] I don’t snore.
[EMILIA] ...If you say so.
