in april it will have been four fucking years since i started reading “the guy she was interested in wasn’t a guy at all” (green yuri to those that picked up when it went viral in 2025) and man … i hope all the morons that tried to argue that it was never gonna go full-send on the lesbianism a very ‘haha FUCK you’.
furthermore, i’m happy to see sumiko-sensei slowly turn this into a more messy/angsty series like her previous works. she should do more of that i think, and if normies complain about how “ówò my favorite aesthetic yuri ship is so toxic now, nooo—“ i’m blowing them a kiss in the form of it firmly attached to my middle finger.
Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 154
So remember in Tower of Heaven when the girl in the traditional Japanese kimono represented the Courtesan of Death and the path to despair for Erza?
To further parallel this, soon enough, Nirvana’s beam is going to be a ‘light that destroys everything’ if it hits Caitshelter.
Back then with Ikaruga, Erza was walking the path of hell toward something that would inevitably be painful for her-- Jellal. She was walking up to the tower’s peak, prepared to die with him.
Now, Erza walks a path of hope, and she’s prepared to bring him out of there alive, too. “Live and find out what happens in the future.”
While this dress is dark purple in the anime, it’s pure white in the manga, with the sleeve empty specifically on the side with Fairy Tail’s mark to show it off.
Furthermore, Erza’s dress is slit around the sleeves and skirt for mobility, and she’s wearing sandals, a far cry from Ikaruga’s fully layered kimono and eight-inch heels. Erza may resemble Ikaruga right now, but she’s still inevitably Erza.

Seeing as how Kureha is, in fact, Older than Dirt, it makes me wonder how much she knows about the main plot
Ch154 vs ch164, Hopkins corsets
It’s not too obvious in ch153 what corset Mey-Rin is wearing, but ch154 gives a much clearer view of it, and it looks — not identical — but very similar to the one Nina brought in ch164.
Ch154 vs ch164:
It might not be the exact same one, since it’s been a couple years since she joined the Phantomhive household, and she might have at least a couple now, but I can guarantee it’s a “specially made” Hopkins corset.
I’m not sure the corset Ran-Mao wore to Heathfield Manor is also a Hopkins creation, though, since Nina hasn’t been seen (that we know of) since she made stage outfits for the S4 and clothes for the lords of the stars, etc... and I don’t think anyone went back to Phantomhive Manor to grab an extra. Even Sebastian might avoid the place because of Undertaker. Maybe they got their hands on an extra Hopkins corset; who knows. Too bad Ran-Mao is probably not still wearing any corset, now that she’s been captured and kept knocked out/giving blood. Not even a Hopkins corset will help you... if you don’t have it on.
When I first saw ch154’s cover art, I didn’t think there was any significance to it. More like fan service than anything else. But... now I see that the corsets were what was really on display here.
