I like how Oda handles the Hatchi/Nami relationship. She's specifically sitting far away from him, indicating the distance that remains between them. She makes sure he knows that she hasn't forgiven him. And yet...Nami's gotten to the point where she can sit and eat Hatchi's food, and Hatchi's gotten to the point where he can admit the horrible things he's done to Nami. They've both gone on personal journeys since they've seen each other last, and it makes for a really cool dynamic now that they've reunited

I've always appreciated how Oda treats all dreams with equal respect. Camie's big goal in life is to be a fashion designer, but like many who grew up on Fishman Island she harbors this secret dream to ride the Ferris wheel, and despite that being something that might seem childish, Luffy and the Straw Hats pursue it with the same gusto they do their own world-shaking dreams.

It also adds to the feeling of oppression the WG exerts over the people of Fishman Island. The people that would enslave them literally live above them, ten thousand meters in the sky while the fish folk are stuck ten thousand meters under the sea
