Toad – (Buaf) transformation, inner visions, death and rebirth, hidden power and beauty
The toad is a powerful symbol of transformation, as it grows from tadpole to toad. It has associations with fertility, magic, fairies, and Witchcraft. (more)
In Alchemy the toad represent the Dark side of Nature. People with a Toad totem can see things and people more clearly. (more)
“They say she’s a witch. She turns men’s minds when she speaks. She brings fortune and tragedy alike without warning.” Witch the accusation has been whispered of her more than once...more than a hundred times over ten times over as many years and damned if it doesn’t make her laugh with something akin to pleased amusement every time. Foolish mortals to think her just a witch, when she is of course much much closer to the very source of darkness fabled to give witches their power, but also how funny to see them grasping so close to the truth only in the height of their hysteria. After all she does work the most intrinsic sort of magic on the world when she makes it change and there are those who strike especially close to the mark when they call her strange or fae. Like the ‘fair’ folk of legend she works her best with words full of truth twisted and tainted so that they cut much deeper than lies ever could.
Challenges are pretty straight-forward. You do the Challenge, you get a point. You don’t do it, you don’t get a point. There’s no grading, this is purely participation based. There are 2 Challenges per month. When you get a point, the point is tallied on the Point page, located at /points haha.
This Challenge is “Kinship Animal.” It is a self-para challenge, so get your drabble on! Your task is to select one of the following animals and decide how your muse is similar to that animal; what positive traits (or negative ones) can be gleaned from the study of them, that the two share? Do a bit of research—have fun with this. Even the lowly snail has lessons to share.
Toad, Snake, Lion, Snail, Pig, Goat, Peacock
This Challenge is not time restricted and can be done any time, but it is relevant to the Masquerade so we encourage considering this Challenge before the 21st. Tag any Challenge post with both #chvrchesrp and #chvrchpoint so we can do our best to tally you! Enjoy!

A gentle reminder, as previously mentioned: for your points to be considered for the Choice event, you must complete them by noon on Saturday the 18th. That will give us enough time to tally and do any corrections needed before assembling next week’s event. Thanks!
The snake’s spiritual and cultural include evil, auspicious, and honorable meanings. It is the devil incarnate, an ancient totem, a protector of kings, an omen of good fortune and health, and a symbol of wisdom and strength.
Peacock is a gorgeous messenger of dreaming all that you can be with no limits embracing infinite possibility. Peacock will love to stroll along your side and tell you the secrets of believing that anything you dream is possible.
Belial is nothing if not a creature bound by his baser needs. He has two faces, one he constantly shows the world around him, and the other he holds close to his chest. He’s found that charming people to do what they want him to do is best when the person being charmed has no idea it is happening. He can twist himself into any form necessary to accomplish his goal of charming a soul right from under their nose--no matter the cost.
Filled with pride, he has spent thousands, and thousands, and thousands of years perfecting the art of manipulation and he is good at it. There aren’t many that can see through his web of lies and deceit, and even those who do only see that section of Belial that he wishes them to see. He has shed his skin countless times, becoming a new person in the blink of an eye, and living an infinite number of lives.
The amount of history, and knowledge that is housed within Belial’s mind has given him strength and a wealth of power that not many can match, but with such a long history behind him, comes with countless failures as well. With each failure, he has pushed himself further and further, perfecting the action of condemning a soul to hell, and in the process turned himself into a creature other demons don’t understand--or relate to. He’s been around for so long that his ambitions have distanced him from his roots, and at the same time--made him into something so much more.
The lion is a symbol for deathless courage, strength, fearlessness, bravery and royalty.
They are very loyal people, and will defend friend and family honor to the death. Leo personalities can come on strong and serious. Interestingly, this assertiveness tends to mellow in maturity. In fact, Leo's often get quite playful and more easy-going in older age. Leo's also have an amazingly strong sense of family and community. Not all Leo's show pride for their pack the same, but to be sure (whether they show it or not), Leo's gain a strong sense of identity within a group like family, friends network, work group, etc.
Jairus has always been one to work hard for what he believes in. When he was younger, he pushed further, strove harder, and excelled at anything, and everything, he put his mind to. Along the way he has taken that fire in his bones, and honed it into an iron will that has brought men and women to follow him wherever he went. That’s not to say that sort of power doesn’t come without responsibility, without consequences and the deaths of the men and women he grew up with would forever haunt his every waking minute.
But what makes a lion so strong, and so powerful, is that they take that sadness, and regret, and they turn it into something more. They build churches, and a belief system, and give hope to those that once thought it lost. Jairus is a lion, through and through, and he knows when to be strong for those who need it, but also when to take it slow, and observe those around him to let them make their own mistakes, and grow.

The fact was, her mother was gone. Kezia wasn’t going to give up -- not until there was a body alive or dead before her -- but her mother was gone. She had to stop waking up and expecting her to have just come home in the middle of the night. The only mornings that didn’t happen, lately, were the mornings that came after the nights where she had woken up in the middle of the night, by Leilani’s crying.
That was becoming less and less common, though. Leilani was healing and Kezia couldn’t blame her. How long before Leilani started seeing someone else? How long before she came to Kezia with a soft look and a sympathetic hand, saying she couldn’t stay with her any longer? How long before Kezia was out on her ass on her own again?
She had packed up all her earthly possessions before. Three times, before, actually. It was just that... All those times, her mother was there with her. Now, it would just be Kezia, on her own. Kezia with just a bag and not a prayer in the world. Prayers didn’t work for girls like her and, even if they did, God was dead.
Sighing, Kezia circled her spoon around the inside of a pomegranate, loosening seeds. She needed to find her mother. And she, herself, was the only one she could rely on.
