Challenge 119: Imaginary Travel Posters: Dorne I decided to paint the Red Mountains of Dorne, from Game of Thrones, which is where the Tower of Joy was located-- and also a real place in Spain called Castle of Zafra. Technically this is both a Dorne travel poster and a Spain travel poster! Caitlin

Challenge 119: Imaginary Travel Posters: Schitt’s Creek
Schitt’s Creek is absolutely one of my favorite shows in recent years. It helps that I’ve grown up with movies featuring Catherine O’hara and Eugene Levy, but this show is just something else. I find it so refreshing to watch a show with characters who unapologetically love each other despite all of their (numerous) flaws. The fact that one of the main characters is pansexual and there is not a single trace of homophobia or otherism is also strangely an unfamiliar aspect of a tv show.
I really wish Schitt’s Creek was a real place, because if more people in this world lived like the members of this town, we would all be much better off.

Challenge 119: Imaginary Travel Posters: Visit Kronos
I chose to create a poster for Kronos, the Klingon home world in Star Trek. It was fun trying to take a location that is traditionally very intimidating and uninviting and make it look (at least partially) like a nice place to visit. I took this opportunity to break away from my usual aesthetic a bit, and tried to make this look a little like vintage travel posters with more flat, graphic shapes and less detailed rendering. I also really enjoyed setting up the typography and finding typefaces that really fit the Klingon look. Even though this looks very little like most of my work I’m really happy with the end result.
