Challenge 127: Dream Lover: What happens when you mess with the physics of it all?

I took this lovely opportunity to do a piece geared towards one of my favorite movies, Inception. 

I can’t even tell you how crazy it was working on the perspective of those buildings. I may have wanted to cry. I may have actually cried. 

Through the many battles I fought with this piece, I was good with the finish, hope you enjoy as well!

Challenge 127: Dream Lover: Isn’t She Lovely

My interpretation of this challenge led me to think about what I spend most of my time daydreaming about: plants! I wanted to illustrate a girl who has a few plant of her own, but always dreams for more–much like myself.

P.S. The title “Isn’t she lovely” is the song I often find myself singing quietly around the house while I water my plants.

Challenge 127 : Dream Lover : Sweet Dream

Have you ever heard an old fashion saying that says, to get to a man/woman heart is to go through their stomach? Food seems to bind people together but also become the initial items that we desire. Wither that be for a mouth-watering ever so slightly salt fries or that sweet tooth desire of delicious donuts. We go as far as to dreaming of our next in counter and the delicious taste that we crave to follow. So sprinkle on some sugar and have a sweet dream.

Challenge 127: Dream Lover: Green Lover

Wouldn’t it be amazing if some magical being was helping your garden grow and bloom and bear fruit? When this gardener discovers that exact scenario in their own greenhouse, the tender buds of love blossom. I’m on the road for this challenge, so I decided to go with ballpoint pen as my medium to create this lush garden scene. -Sayada

Challenge 127: Dream Lover: Book Lovers Series I didn’t think I’d be able to get two done in time, but looky here! Exciting stuff.  When I think about a lover of dreams, I think “lover of imagination” which to me, is a reader. Dream worlds open with turn of a page, and I wanted to celebrate different kinds of readers with a series. These are just two of hopefully many more to come!  And just for the record, I’m both a Spine Crackers and Book Juggler, myself ;) Caitlin

Challenge 127: Dream Lover: Walter’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Dream Fudge

Valentine’s Day this year made me think about chocolate, and that made me think about the fudge recipe I have been experimenting with for the last few months. The recipe is based off of recipes written by my grandfather (Walter) and great grandmother, and I have spent the first part of this year trying to make sense of their notes and add my own spin to the final product. So this is, in essence, my dream recipe for fudge. This year I am also trying to develop some graphic design work, and this seemed like a good opportunity to practice laying out some typography with a two-sided recipe card. Furthermore, I created this piece in gouache as an on-going attempt to practice new media. So this challenge involved a lot of firsts and experimentation for me, and I’m really pleased with the outcome.

Challenge 127: Dream Lover: Daemon Bae

My dream lover is a giant demon monster who protects me from annoying obligations and people trying to sap my energy, so I can do important stuff like nap and listen to music!

Also, bittersweet news: This is going to be my last challenge with Square Carousel for a while.  I have had so much fun making art with this group, but it’s time for me to focus on other things.  Don’t be strangers y’all!
