Challenge 134: Freebie: Flynn’s Arcade I decided to take on a personal project that may have been too personal. Haha. I love Tron:Legacy. I originally wanted to do multiple illustrations from the movie (and still plan to get to the other scenes I was plotting out) but time simply was not in my favor. And my love for the movie I think I got a little caught up in trying to make all the sketches “perfect”.  Brett Morgan

Challenge 134: Freebie: Eva Estrella

My first OGN came out last week, a ComiXology Originals title named Virtually Yours! I had planned out a larger piece when I started, but not wanting to spoil anything for people who haven’t read it yet I decided to just do a fun little pin-up of one of the main characters, Eva ( she’s on the cover as well as in the preview pages so I know I won’t be giving anything away by drawing her 😂).  

Here’s to hoping I can start whipping up some more pin-ups/ illustrations for VY soon! 💖

Challenge 134: Freebie: Enneagrams in Ethical Fashion This is super niche, being for people who love the Enneagram personality test *and* ethical fashion... but I’m one of those people and know there’s an audience for it, so here we are! I came up with these distinctions based on some polls I did within my community, which were very un-scientific, and the Type descriptions. Of course everyone is a unique individual and this is all in good fun, so if this doesn’t accurately describe you, please don’t take it too seriously! Caitlin

Challenge 134: Freebie: Galaxysona

A week or so ago, Annie Stoll came up with a really fun art challenge: draw a galaxysona! It’s not based on me, I just wanted to draw a powerful, glamorous space witch/ keeper of a dimensional portal! It was really fun creating these different shiny textures :D -Sayada

Challenge 134 : Freebie : Let’s Make Friends

When you were a kid did you ever created toy friends, out of things around you, to give you company? Allowing your imagination to run wild and create characters out of the crazy things, in this case, milk cartons. Repurposing common household items into character if only for a few moments or until pick up day comes. So let your inner child out and let’s create a toy, a friend to play with and talk to.

Challenge 134: Freebie: Blood and Donuts This repeat pattern was inspired by a podcast I heard discussing research into a new technique for the long term storage of dehydrated blood using trehalose, a natural sugar produced by some plants and small creatures such as tardigrades. Trehalose is also commonly used in donuts. Obviously I felt there was room for a visual interpretation of that idea, and here we are.

Challenge 134: Freebie: Steampunk Wallpaper

I’m using this freebie to work on my skoolie! My husband and I have been converting a school bus into our permanent tiny home on the road. If you’d like to learn more about your progress you can check out our bus build on Youtube. This particular project will be the custom wallpaper for the main living space. Eventually once I get the paper up I’ll have a full tutorial on that page.  I wanted to have steampunk elements that were subtle. I chose a hot air balloon and a compass within a Victorian filigree pattern. Working on some subtle patterns

Challenge 134: Freebie: Lemon Repeat Pattern

I took this freebie as an opportunity to dip my toes back into pattern design! Before I landed in the illustration department in undergrad I was actually a fibers major! Pattern and textile design is so fun because it allows me to showcase so many different avenues of design that I love.

I’ve been making a lot of smoothies and homemade lemonade this summer, so I guess bright citrus was on my mind when I came up with this one. I love the bright yellow against the dark background. Now to get this printed on some actual stationary...
