Challenge 71: Happy New Medium: Gold Leaf
I am going to be participating in a comics festival soon and have been wanting to try adding some gold or silver leaf to posters. To clean up an old illustration, I first experimented with halftone patterning and making it monochromatic. I think that came out nicely! The gold leaf looks kind of crazy and the silver leaf shows some potential but I am not sure how I will end up utilizing it, if at all!

Challenge 71: Happy New Medium: Mixed Media Mess
So, this challenge did not go how I planned at all! I originally aimed to create a piece with only traditional tools, scanning and cleaning up the image at the end if need be. However, I got about half way into the piece and caved and finished the rest of it digitally! XD
The base of the illustration was done with gouache/ colored pencils/ fine tip colored markers/ and copic markers!

Challenge 71: Happy New Medium: Acrylic on Canvas!
I have had this canvas for two years and always wanted to try painting on it. I’ve always been drawing with computer and having to get dirty with paints on my hands really excites me.
I think I will try to paint more from now on. :)

Challenge 71: Happy New Medium: Gold Leaf Galore I thought something really over the top would be fun for the beginning of the year and what says that better than covering your desk in a gold leaf pattern of chevrons? That seems pretty over the top to me. I went through a ridiculous amount of gold leaf on this project but after doing about a million of these blocks I am way better at applying perfectly even coats of adhesive, waiting until it is the perfect tackiness, and then gently applying gold leaf without disrupting the rubber cement. Woo! Happy new medium. There will be more metallic things in the future!

Challenge 71: Happy New Medium: Colored Pencil Kitties Yay! So excited to have Square Carousel back up and running for 2016! I chose to use colored pencils on this one, which proved to be a lot more difficult than I remembered. My original attempt at this looked awful, so I had to do a digital-colored-pencil route in the end. I haven’t used the medium since probably 2007 or so, and I had forgotten how time consuming it is! I was definitely missing my gouache paint, but glad to exercise a part of my art skills that have been unused for quite some time. This is my imaginary yearbook of kitties my family/I have had over the course of my 27 years. I figured it was only fair for each to have their own superlative! Trampoline, Thai and Spider were all cats that my parents had when I was born, until the mid 90s. Baxter lasted with us from1998 to just a few years ago-- a really good, long run for the sweet guy. Toby and Rainbow existed in the late 90s to early 2000s, which is about the time I got Ninya (Nini), who passed away last year, and was the first “all my own” cat. I miss her all the time. Turbo and Buddy came about in the mid-2000s, and Turbo is still with my parents today. Pumpkin and Biscuit are newbies! And sweet Cornelius is around, too, but with a different family now. So there you have it! 27 years of cats! Caitlin

20 Slices of Basketball Life Series
Now that the BPS Challenge 71 (20 Things) is over, I realized I had a lot of fun trying to subvert the format. So I've decided to take on a gargantuan task in writing a 20-chapter series, mostly featuring experimentations with the 20 Things format.
The series will be featured on AO3 here. I will also post new ones on Tumblr here, of course.

Getting to know a Tsundere: Nineteen Denials (and one Pseudo-acceptance)
Written for BPS Challenge 71 (20 Things). I wanted to explore Midorima and Takao's relationship, while playing again with the 20 Things format. I have said before that I find it slightly difficult to write Shuutoku, so this was additional practice in writing MidoTaka voices. =)
This is much subtler than my other 20 Things submissions. There are 19 tsundere denial statements, and one pseudo-tsundere-style acceptance. See if you can find them all!
