November 2025 LU Write-a-Thon Round Up: 368,799 Words in One Day!
On November first, 100 writers exactly gathered together to see how many words we could write in a single day. From homework to fanfiction, to starting that not-quite-nano project, the people brought their best, and made the Big Number Go Up. We more than met our cumulative word count goal of 293,004 for the day, so congratulations to every single one of us.
This month was a special event as well, where players wrote their way through a dungeon, collecting rupees for doing things like writing (of course), drinking water, getting out of the chat, and completing writing mini-games, such as using a new POV character or exploring a location or genre they’ve never worked with before. All the credit in the world to Mina (@zarvasace ) for making all of the tools that we needed to make this event run, and our verifiable army of artists that make those tools look way prettier than we could imagine.
Below, you will find a link to the entire dashboard for the event, from word counts to artist credits, helpful links if you want to play next month, and more. After that will be the winner’s circle, and then (rather than our usual clubs) Superlatives by Team. Superlatives here are fun, congratulatory, or just silly titles given by participants to participants, by means of an anonymous form.
See all event stats here!
Winner’s Circle (Top 5 Most Wordiest)
At 29,537 words, “Writer of all Time” goes to @hytiaa as well as “Devourer of Final Marathons.” Hytia, as your nominator put it, while you were eating the word count, we were eating your dust.
At 15,173 words, “O(meemaw)minous” goes to @not-freyja along with the message “you better lock in. You better lock in. yOU BETTER LOCK IN. YOU BETTER LOCK—” (Freyja here: well? Are you listening to me? Have you locked the fuck in?)
At 14,174 words, “Spouse of All Time” goes to @whatvioletdoes-blog for renewing their marriage vows in the chat, on the one-year anniversary of getting married in the chat.
At 12,558 words, “Finished a WIP” goes to @Aeghina who really did it all this month. Beat their goal, conquered a draft, and snagged the elusive Boss Key! Well done!
At 12,412 words, “First Try” goes to @straight-outta-hobbiton who only restarted their entire document once… this month.
Teams
In lieu of our usually monthly writer’s clubs, this special event featured four teams. Writers were able to join a small party of Links on their path through a Dungeon, and rack up words and bonus points for their team, not just themselves. This combination of words and points was referred to as rupees, and the Teams will be listed below in order of most to least rupees collected.
Only team members with superlatives are listed in the post below. For a full list of all players and complete team stats, please go to the event dashboard, and navigate to each team’s tab.
10 of My BL Superlatives for 2025 BLs (Character Edition) ✨
The one that no one asked for. I really need drama/BL friends on here.
1. Undisputed strongest face card of 2025: Keng Harit in "Khemjira"
The fact that they literally built up to the face reveal tells you all you need to know. The world collectively shook when he took off those sunglasses.
2. Best acting performance: Kim Kang Min in "My Bias is Showing?!"
Homeboy knows how to act, he put in that work, and now he better get some kind of award. The micro expressions and the way you can see him trying to figure out his feelings is so well done. He might be my favorite "new" (to me) actor in BL this year, and this is definitely my favorite Korean BL of 2025.
3. Greenest flag second lead: Ji Min Seo in "Something's Not Right"
Something isn't right and it's the fact this dude wasn't the main lead.
4. Favorite comfort couple: Fujimoto Kodai & Kan Hideyoshi in "School Trip: Joined a Group I’m Not Close to"
They're just so cute and I would do anything for their happiness. Reminds me of the joy that J-BLs like "Takara-kun & Amagi-kun" and "My Love Mix-Up" give me. But who approved this English title? I need to speak with them immediately.
5. Most unhinged energy: Tian Xu Ning in "Revenged Love"
Dude's got a thing for snakes. Like he's really that final boss.
6. Peak main-character behavior: Huang Xing in "ABO Desire"
We love a two-faced plotting Enigma pulling all the strings behind the scenes. This diva had everyone fooled, and I love him for that.
7. Best dressed fashionista: Fujibayashi Yasunari in "Punks Triangle"
Makes me want to go back to my black crackle nail polish and Hot Topic era.
8. Favorite cursed boy: Pooh Krittin in "Goddess Bless You from Death"
He sees dead people, is on the hit list of all the evil ghosts, has that cool eye that gives off "the chosen one" vibes, AND draws deranged, dark art? Sign me the hell up.
*My only wish is that they made him more suspcious, like he could be evil or the killer or involved somehow, but it became clear early on that this fluff ball didn't do anything. Granted this show is not even half way done yet.
9. Most valuable non-BL player: Kim Do Yeon in "Heesu in Class 2"
You can't tell me she didn't single-handedly save this straight-coded BL. Served queen behavior from episode 1, and I appreciate her.
10. Favorite sight for sore eyes: Peak Peemapol in "Love in the Moonlight"
To me, Peak will always be Fuse from 2016-2017 "Make it Right," so seeing him again, in this epic of a story, just makes me nostalgic for OG, oldschool BLs. And dude hasn't aged a day. What the heck is he eating?

2024: BL Year in Review
(The fact that I'm doing this hours before the year changes is actually the least surprising things of 2024)
Total BLs watched in 2024: 21
BLs watched that aired this year: 12
(BLs currently airing: 2)
(BLs watched this year that started in 2023: 3)
BLs watched that aired before this year: 9
________
10 random superlatives to wrap up my year (these are from series that have aired this year or finished airing this year):
1. The BL that predicted most accurately (the date of legalization of same-sex marriage in Thailand)
Cherry Magic
It shot up to my Top 10 favourite BLs the moment I watched it. It's amazing and everyone should watch it, actually.
2. The most Bromance BL (is it a coincidence that my first two superlatives are both TayNew series? You can't prove anything.)
Peaceful Property
Another BL everyone should watch. It's technically not a BL, but it's a better BL than a lot of the ones I've watched before so.
3. The most average BL
My Love Mix Up Th
Very cute, but unlike Cherry Magic, I think I actually liked the original (Kieta Hatsukoi) better. It was nice, but very average.
4. My most loved omegaverse BL (...yes there were two. But to be fair, it depends on what you consider a 'BL')
Tadaima, Okaeri
It was so adorable. It had a sort of non-traditional ABO relationship (?), but I love how they used ABO to address other (more relevant-) socio-cultural issues.
5. The BL with the most wasted potential
The Trainee
It started off amazing, but the graph became a straight line (pun intended) somewhere in the middle and then went steadily downhill. It had so much potential, the ending physically hurt.
6. The most wacky BL (that I loved)
Century of Love
It's actually pretty great, but it's just so wacky (which makes it more adorable honestly). It kept surprising me too, which is always nice (...except when it's not).
7. The BL I (know I'm gonna) have the most love-hate relationship with
ThamePo
This is the first (hopefully only) BL that made me sob in the first episode. But it's so good. I almost cried twice in the second episode too, this is awful. (Then why do I love it?)
8. BL that gave me the most whiplash
The Heart Killers
If you haven't guessed already, I am insane about and insanely obsessed with FadelStyle. If we're watching the same series, I know you are too. :)
9. BL with the worst crash landing (26372892 dead, everyone else injured)
Last Twilight
If you watched this, you know. I have nothing else to add.
10. My favourite BL of the year
We Are
I'm very sure anyone who even clicked on my blog in April-July this year knows this. This silly little show just hit a chord in me and it never stopped ringing.
Honourable mentions:
1. BL with the most episodes ever in Thai BL history
Perfect 10 Liners
24 episodes. That's all I have to say.
2. My most loved new pairing
MarcPoon
The above gif is moments before The ChainPun KissTM. And let me tell you. They didn't only understand the assignment, they showed everyone else exactly how to do it too.
GL version:
1. The one that really tried
23.5
2. The best GL (I have watched)
Pluto
Please watch it.
If this post seems hurried, it kinda was 😭-
I'm just glad I could get this out in time T-T
Thank you so much if you got this far! ☺️🫶🏼
Here, have a new year's cake hehe 🎂

Bonus 89: The best and worst comparatives episode
Have you ever seen a sign saying "This city's best pizza" or a mug saying " World's greatest teacher" and been...sort of skeptical? Or how about saying something like "you're my best sister" if you only have one sister? Words like better and best, greater and greatest are ways of comparing things, and sometimes they start feeling weird if the groups of things being compared are too large or too small.
In this bonus episode, Gretchen and Lauren get enthusiastic about ways of comparing things to each other. We talk about why comparisons get weird when the groups are too large or too small, the hidden etymological connection between more and most, how we choose between er/est and more/most (and why "funner" is really more logical), and how English has more ways of making comparatives than many other languages. We also talk about strategies that other languages use for making comparatives (such as "to me, you are tall" and "this house is big. that house is very big."), why some words are harder to make comparative (can someone be more unique or more pregnant?), and how to play Wavelength, a fun board game that's all about silly comparatives. Listen to this episode about ways of comparing things to each other, and get access to many more bonus episodes by supporting Lingthusiasm on Patreon.
