People are quick to call out cancel culture but they never seem to mention 'Yep Culture.' (Yep, I'm coining it.)
My mom asked me what company I would want to work for and I stayed silent. I couldn't think of a single one. So I told her that none of them have good intentions and she said "well they're all like that."
"But it shouldn't be."
"No it shouldn't but it is." That's the mentality that's enabled this exact thing, people allow this stuff to happen. In their mind, you're given a choice of red vs blue and that's it, you just accept that fact, and pick one because to them it is indeed 'fact' but it doesn't have to be, it really doesn't. And they don't realize that because they were never taught to.
Cancel culture sucks, a lot of people whine and get what they want, which is also a bad mentality but at the same time I can't really offer another option that's as effective for change on a massive scale. That's what our generation is known for but nobody stands to wonder why.
Those were customs the previous generations were willing to accept. Mine isn't. Why can we not come up with our own customs and traditions for a social construct? Isn't that what you want? To be a leader. To be independent. To make a change. That's essentially what YOUR America is selling but is gatekeeping at the same time. Its contradictory. False advertising. Your system hasn't aged well, previous generations might've been able to squeeze by but we barely get a crumb because of it. With your system, we can't change, so the system itself needs to change. The system itself (I would guess) started like this because it was at a smaller and much more tolerable scale back when it was invented but it doesn't work when it's ramped up to the degree it is now. Now maybe it just never worked, I don't know, I wasn't there. Who decided this was the way we run things? Why are we so willing to accept something that we don't even know who started? Is it the founding fathers? Like wtf.
"That's the real world." No, that's the world you're sold and you buy it and just call it "the only option."
There's no such thing as a real world
"You're going to have to work a job you don't like." No, house chores are unavoidable but jobs are different, if a collective of people all agree a job is bad then they can either change it or get rid of it. You can't just decide that you'll "start" with it because you're going to be waiting year after year for that promotion that's more than likely never going to come, with very few exceptions. And as for location jobs, we shouldn't be bound to one area. If I make minimum wage in one state, let's say 8$ an hour, then moving somewhere where the pay is better is going to be tough because the price of everything is going to be more, your savings will be spent and your expectations will be extreme because it's going to be so hard to get a job in a different state when your previous one was 8$ an hour. "Transfer with the same company." From what I see that's become a rarity, I've worked places that never accepted transfers.
We should be phasing out things that we don't need, if we keep holding on to the past, we can never move forward. A company that started 100 years ago is going to outclass anything made today because they never backed out, they just buy the competition. There will never be another Coca-Cola, another Walmart, another Amazon and so on and so forth. They've cemented themselves so that nobody will get the chance to make something like that again. Companies need to either fail or back out.
I know people are scared of losing their jobs that way but that shouldn't be the sole reason we rely on a service. If we're so desperate for gas that we have to rely on other countries, we shouldn't have it because we can't control what other countries do. And the jobs in the gas industry? We're going to run out of gas eventually. What are you going to do? Charge me more of my nonexistent money? For more gas? For an electric car? Versus paying it in bites through gas?
Who's going to pay for this stuff? "Taxpayers." No because who decides the price? You think a car is worth as much as we pay for it? Prescriptions? If we, as a collective, challenged our authorities then we'd get what we want, we haven't been doing that. We haven't been keeping them in check from corruption by doing that and it's gotten to the point of where it is now. People think they can get away with charging ludicrous amounts of money because people will still buy it. "You need gas so what are you going to do? Stop buying it?" It's been exploited enough and I don't understand how it's allowed.
