Lesson 15, Task 1: Where do I live?
The distribution of the population in my community is quite wide. Since I live in a more rural town, there are more households that are more spread out due to the fact that there is a lot of farmland. On top of that there is a large population of Mennonites, who populate a lot of land both in town and on the outskirts of town. Elmira has grown immensely in population over the years. It started out as a small little farm town and has flourished into a bustling busy town. A large majority of people who reside in Elmira commute into the surrounding towns like Kitchener, Waterloo, and even so far as Cambridge. The community is definitely more of a commuter town, people choose to live in the small(ish) town and commute out of town for work. With the variety of cultures in Elmira (The Mennonite culture, Chinese culture, Indian culture etc.) there is a big possibility for the cultures to clash.l Maybe the Chinese culture believes something else should happen in the town and they believe differently than the Mennonite culture , and etc. My community has definitely had to adapt to all the changes and different cultures that have come into our little town. We have come to learn to accept diversity with open arms and help newcomers to adapt to our quaint little town and how we work.
