Key #1: Tackling Insecurities
If you haven’t already figured it out, the keys I’m referring to are keys to happiness! These are the things that I have discovered in my 18 years of living, that I want to share with all of the people who come across my tumblr.
The first key is to tackle your insecurities. I personally believe that insecurities are the root of all evil. I can only speak from a teenage perspective since I haven’t experienced adulthood just yet, but insecurities seem to play a huge role in adolescent lives. I mean think about yourself, and your relationships. Everybody knows somebody who “talks shit”. Someone who is quick to judge others. Someone who gets extremely jealous. Someone who pushes their friends away. Someone who blames their problems on everyone but themselves. Someone who picks apart their physical appearance. Someone who never peeps in class or even someone who must have all eyes on them 24/7. At some point in our lives, we have all been through most, if not all, of these phases. All of these nasty habits are driven by insecurities. Think of the most perfect person in the world (your mom, your best friend, Beyonce etc.) Believe it or not, even they have felt insecure or insufficient before. We all have! And these feelings cause us to behave in ways that only add to these feelings! We can’t tackle our insecurities over night, but we can start by changing our perspective! which ((un)coincidentally) happens to solve the vast majority of our problems, and is my overall number one key to happiness! If you ever find yourself to be trapped inside of your own mind and thinking negative thoughts, take a few seconds to follow these steps.
2. Recognize that the way you’re thinking is not positive or realistic, therefore, it will not help you in any way.
3. Replace your negative thought with a positive thought. And stick with it, whether you believe it in the moment or not!
4. Let THAT thought be the new driving force behind your actions.
