One rule. He had one rule when it came to going out with his girlfriend, Hanjae, at the local park during a festival. Do not let go of his hand. She readily agreed to it and they held hands as they went through the park admiring the booths. So, how did it get to this?
Eunkwang went down the lit up street of the park to find her. He was panicked. When did she let go of his hand? Why didn’t he feel her hand slip from his? He just wanted a tranquil date night with his girlfriend after he finished promotions for his group’s comeback. But instead he’s running around in a panic trying to find her.
As he ran around, he caught a glimpse of Hanjae’s bright purple winter jacket. He came to a stop and stared at the pathway across from him. Hanjae had pulled her hair down from her original ponytail and threw on her winter hat as it got colder that night. Eunkwang noticed how awkward she looked as a man stood before her with a flirty look on his face. Eunkwang watched in horror as he approached the two.
“—cutie like you? How cruel of him. Why don’t we hang out instead?” The guy reached out to touch her.
“I’m good. I’m just going to look for hi–” She looked to see Eunkwang approaching him. “Oh, there he is” she gave a look of relief as she saw her boyfriend.
Eunkwang straightened up and approached her with more confident. “Thanks for keeping my girlfriend company while I looked for her” he gave him a grin. “Come on, love. We should get going.” He pulled her away from the man and once at a safe distance he turned to her and whined. “Why did you let go of my hand?”
Hanjae puffed out her cheeks, “I told you I was cold and needed to get my hat one. You let go and kept walking?
He gave her an awkward smile, “Oh, is that how that happened. My bad.” He took her hand in his again, “This time we don’t let go.”
“Fine” she rolled her eyes, “But you’re buying me bungeoppang.” She swung their hands harder than necessary as Eunkwang smiled and lead her to a food stand for bungeoppang.
Minhyuk
Minhyuk was helping his girlfriend, Dasomi, sell her merchandise as she was a designer who made little cartoon accessories. Thanks to Minhyuk’s good looks, persuasive attitude, and her cute cartoons, Dasomi was able to sell all the items she brought with her. Minhyuk returned just as she finished putting away the last of her business cards and handed her one of the coffees he bought from the nearby cafe. “Let’s enjoy the festival.”
Dasomi nodded in agreement and they walked side by side sipping their own drinks. They had only recently began dating and as embarrassing as it was to admit, Minhyuk was her first boyfriend, so their relation was very slow compared to most. However, they also grew up together, so the switch to best friends to lovers was still something they both were getting used to.
“Hey ba–Minhyuk oppa, I wanna check out this stall” Dasomi stopped thinking Minhyuk noticed her. She looked at the items with admiration as they were little cartoon zodiacs.
Minhyuk pulled his drink from his lips, “Hey baby.” He stopped realizing what he said. It was the first time he had called her that over her name. “I’m getting hungry, what abo–Dasomi?” He looked over to Dasomi only to see people walk past him and no Dasomi. He turned suddenly as he looked back, “Dasomi?” He called out, but received no answer and he retraced their steps. He noticed Dasomi smiling fakely at the man in front of her. He was about to call out to her, but stopped deciding to tease her as she awkwardly rejected the man who tried to reach for her phone.
Dasomi wanted nothing more than to run off, but she knew Minhyuk would retrace their steps and decided to wait for him. However, as she waited a man approached her. He began to flirt asking if she was alone before he asked for her kakao ID. Dasomi’s eyes sought for Minhyuk and she noticed how a man was still as possible with his jacket pressed in front of his face as if it concealed him. She watched as the man peeked over the jacket and her worried expression shifted to that of annoyance. Her lips pursed as she put one hand on her hip no longer paying attention to the man beside her.
The man looked where she was focused on and his eyes slightly widened, “Isn’t that BtoB’s Minhyuk?”
“Is he?” She tsked. “Not for long will he be once I get a hold of him” she began to walk to him. Minhyuk’s eyes widened as he darted off knowing she was out for blood. “Yah! Come back here!” She chased after him. Minhyuk slowed to a small jog as Dasomi caught up to him and wrapped her arm around his, “Why would you leave me back there alone?”
Minhyuk laughed as he looked at her annoyed expression, “You seemed to handle it just fine without me.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. She pouted, her cheeks puffed in annoyance as she walked beside him. Minhyuk chuckled as he moved his arm from her shoulder and took her hand in his. “Better? Now you can’t leave my side.”
Dasomi blushed as she forced their fingers to intertwine, “This.” She whispered, “Makes sure I can’t leave your side.”
Minhyuk stared at their intertwined hands and his heart skipped a beat. This was their first time to hold hands so intimately and he was so happy he could die. He leaned over and kissed the top of her head, “This is definitely better” he whispered as he pulled away from her head. The rest of the day, their hands never parted.
Changsub
“Babe, I’ll be able to find you wherever you go” Changsub bragged as he walked with his girlfriend, Sunhee. “I know you like the back of my hand.”
She chuckled as she looked around, “Wanna bet?”
Changsub knew that smirk on her face was dangerous. He knew he shouldn’t have accepted the challenge, but the feeling of her proving him wrong just irked him. “Yea. Loser does whatever the winner wants for a week and a half.”
“Deal. You have 30 minutes. Go to the metro for a few minutes while I go somewhere.” She began to walk off.
“You have to stay in Haeundae!” She held up an okay sign as she continued to blend with the crowd.
Changsub was only ten minutes in and as the sunset, he began to panic. He wanted to text Sunhee and ask for her location, but he also wanted to win. “Why do you have to do this to me?” He groaned as he searched through a crowd that watched a fire dancing street performer. Not seeing Sunhee he went to the next performer as they were something she always loved to watch when she was out.
By the twenty minute mark, Changsub gave up and sent her a text. However, when she didn’t reply or read his message on kakao, Changsub’s blood rushed. He crossed the street to Haeundae Beach, but all the visitors were basked in the shadows and could only really get a good look at them when he got close to them.
“Seriously! Go away!”
His head turned to the voice. Changsub knew that was Sunhee’s voice. He took off towards her voice where he saw a girl’s silhouette and she yanked her arm from the guy in front of her. As Changsub got closer, he realized it was his girlfriend and there was a pained expression as she looked at the man before her. She held her wrist as if in pain and Changsub ran up to them. “Hey, jagiya. I was looking all over for you.” The man glared at Changsub and he noticed. Changsub’s smile fell as he gave the guy an unemotional look. “What do you want?”
The man tsked as he waved his hand as he hurried away. Sunhee let out a shaky breath as she grabbed onto Changsub. “You sure took your time looking for me…”
“I’m sorry, but I found you under 30 minutes.” He grinned as he tried to brush off the interaction with the man before.
Sunhee shook her head as she held up her phone, “You’re actually five minutes late, so the victory is mine.”
His jaw dropped as he looked at the time knowing she was right. “Dang, well then winner, what do you want?”
She lead him to the sandy hill on the beach and sat down. She patted the ground and he took a seat next to her. Sunhee leaned on him and his arm wrapped around her waist. “For now, just stay like this for a bit.” She whispered as she looked off to the waves.
