Hello! Back with a second request for the smol dcmk event🙂↕️ perhaps our beloved gamer Jodie wiping the floor with Shuuichi at video games? As always I hope you're having a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening!
Laz I'm going insane over your art WIP titles djdjfjcksjdkz anyway. The masses (me) yearn for "eepy jodie" and "kir.s tshirt"
HKJDFHSKJDFHSJDF ATLAS HIIIII :D!!!!!! So glad you're enjoying themmmm <3333 they are. occasionally inconvenient.
Eepy Jodie is 2 yrs old but I'd like to lowkey redo it and finish it anyways bc it's cute....
It features Jodie having a nap on the couch and Conan putting her glasses on top of his own and lowkey giving himself a headache bc in my mind Jodie does need them... if mostly to see from up close.
And Kirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Honestly this is only a wip bc I wanted to post it with more doodles of the org wearing silly stuff as if they'd gifted them to each other for a secret santa or something but! Never got to that. So I'm posting her now <3
"I survived an argument with Gin and all I got is this lousy t-shirt"
I imagine every year she gets an updated one with the new number of arguments she's survived. Real humbling for Gin
For the build a fic prompts, in the hopes these inspire you (and happy writing if they do!): "Why does it feel like a goodbye?"/tenderness/waking up next to them
Ahhhh, I finally did it. Thank you so much for the prompt. <3
I also posted this one on AO3.
(Build a fic prompts)
Shuuichi looked at the impressive MPD building. Today was the last day he worked there. His flight back to the US was already booked. It was over, the Organisation fell, now there was only some clean up to do, but the Japanese forces could handle that. Shuuichi wanted to see Furuya-kun before he left the building, but unfortunately, the other agent wasn’t there. He took his phone out to text Furuya-kun instead, maybe they could meet up one last time before his flight back.
But Shuuichi hesitated, he wanted to see Furuya-kun, sure, but he didn’t even know what to say to him. It’s not like he could just tell the other man his true feelings. Impossible, not only was Shuuichi awful at talking about his feelings, he was also unsure if Furuya-kun felt the same way. They had finally become friends and Shuuichi didn’t want to ruin that. This friendship was precious to him, but due to their past, it was also fragile.
So, he just stared at his screen when suddenly a text popped up. It was from Furuya-kun. Shuuichi opened and read it. ‘Do you want to come by tonight? I know your flight back is tomorrow, but maybe we can share some drinks before you leave the country.’ Shuuichi smiled and typed his answer After Furuya-kun texted back once more, he put his phone away to go to his hotel room. They would be meeting tonight at 9 pm at Furuya-kun’s place.
The Kudou’s offered Shuuichi to stay at their place until he had to go, but Shuuichi declined their offer. They had already done too much for him and he didn’t want to bother them any longer than necessary.
On his way back to the hotel, Shuuichi stopped by the convenience store to pick up something for his dinner. His next stop was an expensive liquor store, where he picked up a nice bottle of scotch. Shuuichi preferred bourbon, but he was sure Furuya-kun would appreciate it.
At 9 o’clock on the dot, Shuuichi stood in front of Furuya-kun’s apartment. Before he could raise his hand to knock on the door, Furuya-kun opened it. He looked tired, but had a small smile on his lips. “Come in.” Shuuichi demanded his heart to calm down. Seeing Furuya-kun smile shouldn’t affect him this much. So, he quickly gave him the bottle of scotch and concentrated on removing his shoes.
Coming into the apartment, the furnishing was very sparse. There was a chabudai with two zabuton and a TV. Shuuichi looked around, but beside the kitchen, there was only the closed door to the bedroom to see. “Ah,” Furuya-kun said, noticing Shuuichi’s gaze, “I didn’t have the time to really move in yet, after you know, my previous apartment was destroyed.”
It happened during their last big operation against the Organisation. Furuya-kun’s cover was finally blown. In order to get rid of him, the Organisation decided to blow up his apartment. Fortunately, they expected something like that, and the police made sure that nobody got hurt. But since then, there was so much work to do that Furuya-kun had basically no time to get settled into his new place.
Shuuichi sat down, while Furuya-kun went into the kitchen to take out two glasses and fill them with the whiskey. He put one of them in front of Shuuichi and sat down as well. There was a bit of an awkward silence at first, until Furuya-kun cleared his throat and raised his glass. “To the fall of the Organisation.” “To the fall of the Organisation,” Shuuichi repeated and then took a sip.
A surprised noise escaped Shuuichi’s mouth. It made Furuya-kun chuckle. “I know you prefer bourbon. I still had some, so that’s what I gave you.” “Ah, thank you.” It wasn’t necessarily a surprise that Furuya-kun remembered his preferred whiskey, but he really appreciated it. Putting his glass down again, Furuya-kun began to speak: “So, you’re going back to the States tomorrow.” His voice sounded… disappointed? No, there was no way. Shuuichi was probably just interpreting it wrong. “Yes, we’re going back. Our job here is done. I’m sure the Japanese force is glad to finally get rid of us.” “Yeah…”
Going back to the States always seemed inevitable. He was still with the FBI, so that’s where he should go. At least that was something Shuuichi tried to tell himself. His family was in Japan, and his work and friends were in the US, but Shuuichi wasn’t sure where he really belonged. Ever since moving to the States at the age of 15, it was never important where he wanted to be, but where he needed to be.
“I have a question, Akai. How were you able to forgive me for trying to hurt and kill you so easily? You never seemed to hold a grudge against me, I don’t understand.” The question surprised Shuuichi. He never even considered holding a grudge against Furuya-kun. “I understood where you were coming from. It was partly my fault for not telling you the truth earlier, after all. I was just glad that we were able to actually work together again. I liked working with you back when we both still were undercover.”
Furuya-kun looked surprised at his answer. Shuuichi studied his face, when he wasn’t wearing a mask, Furuya-kun’s face was very expressive. “Ha, you were a real nuisance back then. I had the feeling you liked provoking me every chance you got.” That made Shuuichi laugh. “Provoking you was fun. You always seemed so calm and collected, so this was my only way to get real emotions out of you.”
“So, you did do this on purpose. And I just thought you were a born asshole.” Furuya-kun’s tone was light-hearted despite his words, and he smiled at Shuuichi while saying them. Having Furuya-kun smile at him made his heart skip a beat. A genuine smile was very rare on the other man’s face. Shuuichi tried to ignore and push back his feelings for Furuya-kun, but suddenly, they were at the forefront again.
Ever since first meeting him as Bourbon, he found Furuya-kun attractive. He had never met a man before whose tongue was equally as sharp as his wits and looks. It was thrilling trying to provoke him; he was the only one who could get Bourbon to snap and lash out. And Bourbon was the only one who could evoke any real emotion on Rye’s face. Despite their constant arguing (he apologized to Scotch in his mind every time they did), they worked together seamlessly on missions.
They finished their first glass of whiskey, and Furuya-kun got up to refill them. He hid it well, but Shuuichi could see that his movements were a bit sluggish. He must be really tired, but instead of getting sleep, he invited Shuuichi to come over. Shuuichi would like to think that Furuya-kun did this because he actually liked having him here, but it was probably only because Shuuichi would leave the country soon.
With both of them a bit tipsy, they started to talk more, well, it was more like Furuya-kun talking and Shuuichi happily listening and adding his occasional thoughts. “I can’t believe you only started to learn how to cook at 32 years old. How on earth did you survive so long on your own? Maybe I should teach you how to cook more than curry. It would do you good to have a more balanced diet.”
“What, worried that I won’t be able to take care of myself, Furuya-kun?” “Maybe.” He didn’t mean it like that. Stop imagining things. He just said it because of the alcohol, Shuuichi tried to remind himself. It was not good if he grew more attached now. And he was sure he was also just imagining the slight blush on Furuya-kun’s cheeks. Shuuichi’s hands started to grip his glass harder. He remembered how confident he was when asking out Jodie or Akemi, but with Furuya-kun, it was different.
Looking up from being caught in his own thoughts, he suddenly noticed that Furuya-kun was not sitting opposite of him anymore, but next to him, their arms nearly touching. “Let me be clear here,” Furuya-kun said, “I wish you would stay in Japan. I know that with my past actions, I have no right to demand this from you. Even back then, when we were only Rye and Bourbon, I felt something indescribable looking at you. Maybe that’s selfish of me to say, but you are the only one who knows me with all of my masks and without them. Everyone else died way too soon. I don’t know how you do it, but every time you talk to me, it is difficult to keep my masks intact. They start to slip, and it scares me, but it also feels freeing.”
Shuuichi didn’t know what to say. He wanted to take Furuya-kun’s words at face value, wanted to believe that there could be more between them, that Furuya-kun felt the same way. But instead, he said: “You are just saying that because of the alcohol, you won’t feel this way when you’re sober again. So please don’t try to get my hopes up.” Shuuichi could see the hurt in Furuya-kun’s face. Shit, he didn’t mean to hurt him, but he also had to protect his own heart.
“I’m not drunk enough to lose control of my thoughts and actions. I know and mean exactly what I said. If you don’t want this, just be honest with me, Akai. You don’t need any excuses; I can handle it.” His voice went from angry to hurt while saying this. With that, Furuya-kun got up to walk to the bathroom. A sigh escaped Shuuichi’s mouth. He wished it were that easy, wished he could just be as honest with his feelings and stay in Japan with Furuya-kun.
When Furuya-kun didn’t come back after 20 minutes, Shuuichi got worried. So, he stood up as well and went to the bathroom. After opening the door, he saw Furuya-kun slumped on the floor. Rushing to him, he noticed that Furuya-kun was only asleep, thankfully. He must’ve been really exhausted to fall asleep on the bathroom floor.
After hesitating for a second, he picked Furuya-kun up and carried him to his bedroom. Sitting down on the futon next to him, Shuuichi began to think about his words again. If he really felt more than friendship for Shuuichi, maybe there was a chance after all. Being vulnerable was never easy for him, but just like he could get Furuya-kun’s masks to slip, Furuya-kun could get Shuuichi to be truthful about his feelings.
Did he really want to go back to America? Was there anything for him? He only joined the FBI to find out what happened to his father, and he did. He accomplished his mission. Sure, he would miss Jodie and Camel, but here in Japan, he had his family, he had Furuya-kun. Shuuichi took his phone out and dialed Jamse’s number, hoping he wouldn’t be mad because it was already so late.
“Hello, James, I hope I didn’t wake you up.” “Akai-kun, it’s fine I wasn’t asleep yet, what do you need?” “I… erm,” Shuuichi hesitated, how could he say to James that he wanted to quit the FBI and stay in Japan? “Ah,” James chuckled, “why does this feel like a goodbye?” James’s words surprised Shuuichi. How could he know? “I suspected you might want to quit working for the FBI after this mission was done. Am I wrong Akai-kun?” “No, you’re not. I’m sorry, James, but I can’t go back to the US.” “I understand. I’m saddened of course, we’ll be losing one of our best agents, but I won’t try and convince you to come back. This is your decision and I will respect it.” Shuuichi released a breath of relief. “Thank you, James, I will tell Jodie and Camel tomorrow. Good night.” After James wished him a good night as well, he hung up.
Making this decision made him feel like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. Tomorrow, he would talk to Furuya-kun again, apologise for his words and finally tell him his true feelings. Shuuichi was tired and still a bit tipsy. Going back to his hotel didn’t sound like an appealing option. So, he decided to lie down next to Furuya-kun, careful that he didn’t touch him and fell asleep.

Rei woke up the next morning around 7 am. His superiors had given him this day off. But something was different, and when he turned his face to the side, he could see Akai sleeping next to him. Rei didn’t remember how he got to his bedroom; the last thing he knew was that he went to the bathroom to calm down after Akai said something hurtful to him. After finally summoning the courage to be honest with his feelings towards Akai, the other man just dismissed them as drunk thoughts. But maybe him being here was a good sign.
Rei got up, took his blanket and draped it over Akai’s sleeping body. Careful and quiet not to wake him. Then he went to his kitchen and started making coffee and breakfast for both of them. Thankfully, he still had enough groceries for that. He was nearly done preparing their meal when Rei heard steps behind him. Akai was awake, looking at him. He seemed a bit embarrassed, but didn’t avert his eyes from Rei.
Clearing his throat, Akai said: “I’m sorry about the things I said yesterday. I didn’t mean to dismiss your feelings. I guess I just thought it would be easier to tell myself that you didn’t mean it. But I noticed that the easy way is not the way I want to take. I like you, Furuya-kun, I liked you since the day we met, and my feelings only grew more intense the more time passed.”
Rei sighed: “You’re an idiot, but I appreciate the honesty. I made breakfast, but you should eat quickly; you’ll miss your flight otherwise.” He wanted to get his hopes up at Akai’s words, but the other agent was going back to the US today. Even if their feelings were mutual, a relationship seemed impossible. “Ah, no need to be quick, I quit my job with the FBI, I won’t go back to America.” “What?” Rei did not expect those words; the shock was clearly visible on his face. “I’ve been thinking about this for a while. My family is here, and so are you. I’m not like you, Furuya-kun, I didn’t take that job for my country; I had personal reasons only.”
Rei just shook his head. “Unbelievable. Alright, sit down and eat,” he said as he put the dishes on the table. They ate breakfast in relative silence until Akai asked: “Furuya-kun, can I take you out for dinner tonight?” “Maybe you should take care of finding an apartment and a new job first, before asking me out.” That made Akai grin: “And I think taking you out on a date is more important to me now.”
Rei tried not to get flustered at that with little success. How could Akai go from being unsure about telling him his feelings to shameless flirting so easily? But he agreed to go on a date tonight. After finishing breakfast, when Akai was about to leave, Rei decided to drag the other man into a short but sweet kiss. Akai’s eyes widened at that, but when they broke apart, he grinned. “I’ll see you tonight, Furuya-kun.”
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💚
Awww, thank you, Atlas!! <3 Thankfully I actually have more than five fanfics to choose from, finally. XD
My favs are:
This Present Place, a Cherik fanfic in German that I'm actually pretty proud of because it consists of dream sequences and just the right amount of angst. <3
Ein weiterer Albtraum, another Cherik fanfic in German. (I should really try to translate both of them one of these days but I'm always too lazy. XD)
Chromophobia, an AkAm oneshot. I really enoyed writing that one and to experiment with the concept of chromophobia.
The Call, my first AkAm fic and a soulmate AU (of course). The second chapter is always open in my drafts and I'm very happy with both the first chapter and what I'm working on in chapter 2.
Don't Cut Me Out, my current WIP and once again an AkAm soulmate AU. Here I really escalate with the worldbuilding and I'm loving every minute of it. <3
Omg Vera can I ask you to illustrate to me what you think happens in Doctor Who (2005 onwards)😇
hiii atlas! my answer is probably the exact same as if you’d ask about doctor who in general bc admittedly i have no idea what happened in 2005.
i know there is like, several seasons / each with an iteration of the “doctor” and they are usually called by their indexing number, and with each doctor comes an …… assistant? i think it’s not called assistant and there is a specific word for it that i don’t remember. now i think about it, i also am not quite certain what is the relationship between each iteration of doctor …….
i’m certain there is time traveling and also there is a Time Machine (and some of the doctors might have been in love with the machine) and also there’s likely the Klein bottle as well. and also fixed points in time one cannot change. possibly some theme (not necessarily a major one) about it’s not about forever or constant truth, and if it happens / has happened at some point then it has its value ……. then it matters. or something.
Hiro would tell him to stop, that this is madness. But what does his opinion matter?
Hiro’s gone, after all.
And if Rei wants any chance at taking out the bastards who did this before he follows him, he needs help. More than he can scrounge up amongst his meager allies.
The price doesn't matter. It just needs to be paid.
The blade burns across his skin, carving a crimson sigil into the palm of his hand. A rivulet of blood flows down its length, drip, drip drips onto the candle.
Its light goes out.
And the darkness comes alive.
The shadows writhe, tendrils licking at the wound, growing, grasping, squeezing until Rei's breath runs out.
But he keeps staring straight ahead.
And from the abyss, a dozen emerald eyes stare back with interest.
Let's have a little bit of Eldritch!Akai, shall we?
E - Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what
have i? haha I feel like most of my comics are kind of cracky and silly, but i don't think i've added any crack headcanon that became wildly accepted. i have "amuro-san, you're gay" azusa and furuya comic, and the "you're a piece of work" akam comic that stayed with friends, which i'm very happy about. i also have the saying that furuya is a little mushroom, a little fungus, because you can't kill him in any way that matters. but again, that's only picked up in a small circle of friends :)
maybe also the comic about the akakaza car crash - aka akai has only one honeypot technique and he's GONNA use that on kazami one day to get intel - and it will work? the feedback on that one was great.
After reading 3 body problem I finally understand what you meant that one time you mentioned the buzzsaw dilemma/the cosmic beholder being a 3 body AU in a way. On GOD I need to read your fic
haha yeah i was developing the fic around the idea of "eggman kidnaps tails and makes him use science/strategy to help his empire" and was reading the three body book series at the time and wound up just taking some of my fave concepts in it and integrating it into the story.
if you get around to reading it i hope it's a good time 🙏🙏🙏
