From what you've said, I already know, and what Ella has said,
What do you think "gifted" means? Where I live, it is a special needs category in school that usually has very heavy overlap with the kids with ADHD (diagnosed and undiagnosed) and low support needs autistic kids (also called high functioning but I think that term isn't used as much anymore) (once again, mix of diagnosed and undiagnosed).
Literally, in their system you are labeled as special needs if you are in gifted, as you need higher difficulty classes and/or classes that progress at a faster speed.
Where I live, it is mostly determined with an IQ test, but a lot of the traits they teach you that gifted kids show are ADHD and/or autism traits.
I understood it as "class for smarter-than-average kids" but uh. I forgot about the neurodivergent connotations qwq
My school didn't have anything like that (and I don't think schools in my country have anything like that at all), so I might misunderstand things like this. I sometimes just guess what they are based on context 😅
