“You have a crush on your android?” George exclaimed, resulting in Lando quickly shushing him. They were in public after all and there was a high probability that someone would overhear or worse, record their whole conversation and sell it to the press. He could practically see the headline already: LOSER LANDO NORRIS’S LOVE UNREQUITED. THIS IDIOT FELL FOR AN ANDROID.

“What the fuck,” George continued loudly. Lando frantically led him into the privacy of an alleyway between two of the motorhomes. “It’s not like I can help it,” he argued, trying to keep his voice down.

George however was making no such effort. “But he’s an android!”

“You don’t say,” Lando jabbed back.

I could point out the number of times I have gotten nervous. Mainly because I always got nervous. I wanted to do well, I wanted to succeed. I was determined and motivated and had goals set in front of me. But there was always the nerves. My first time on a bike - beyond terrifying. That one time Ronnie Pfieffier asked me to the school dance and my knees buckled all the sudden - way too daunting, he was so charming! Hell, even the interview with Bryn Mawr had my palms sweating, my stomach dancing and my knees shaking like a leaf. But this was a different kind of nerves. This was nerves people could see, nerves people could sniff off of you like a hound dog. Nerves that I was finally trying to outgrow

Chapter 3 Excerpt:  Shtick. The word pulses through Jon’s mind the next morning — pulses, and punches, and pierces. He’s alone in his assigned room, Gendry, Podrick, and Edric having gone to the kitchen for breakfast, so he lingers in bed, pillow over his face to hide his frustration from no one in particular. He understands now. He’s not sure why he didn’t understand sooner. “Friend since childhood. Unrequited love. I guess that’s my shtick.” Sansa must have overheard him say this to Tormund last night. When she and Illyrio entered the room without him noticing — it must have happened then. Jon doesn’t remember saying it sarcastically. But if Sansa was already on edge because she thought he laughed at her — and because the cameras, and the lights, and the micromanaging producers are enough to put anyone on edge — he can see how it would seem otherwise. So what did Sansa think Jon was really saying, underneath the layer of perceived sarcasm? Well, that he’s here to play a part, right? To pretend to be a certain kind of Old. To do as the producers tell him, without asking Sansa how she feels about it first. And fucking hell, Jon pretty much confirmed that theory, didn’t he? Inadvertently? Instead of admitting why he actually is here, he shrugged and said, “To help I guess.” Like an idiot. Like an emotionally inept, hates to talk about hard feelings, never learns his lesson, bumbling fucking — Eck! Jon shoves his pillow further against his face. Because it gets worse.
