Summary:
Sigyn, the seventh daughter of Queen Freya, dreams of the surface world and walking with the humans that live there. And when she falls for the human Prince Loki after saving him she'll find just how far she is willing to achieve her dream. But will the price be too high, and is her mother correct that humans are not to be trusted?
How do you think Loki, who's now in the world tree watching over the timeliness is able to meet Sigyn?
Do you think they'll ever have their boys, if possible, or watch over another timeline, seeing them live happily 🥹
Oh girl, I have you covered!
I wrote two fix-it fics for this! :)

The fact is, as much as Loki would want Sigyn to be by his side, I think he would not want her to be trapped in the tree as he is. But Sigyn? Just like for the cave, she does not care. All she wants is to be with Loki and keep him safe and happy :')
And more than any other variant, TVA!Loki (aka Larry) truly NEEDS his Sigyn variant. LOOK AT HIS FACE. That man is so lonely (he thinks his coworkers are his actual friends... I felt that XD).
As for Vali & Narvi... huhu... I mean, there's no snake or fetters made from children's entrails to stop them or ruin the mood, so... :3
I'm sure they'll find a way to make themselves a lovely home inside the tree and raise there their little fox family :)
Summary: For Loki, studying in Vanaheim hasn't been all it's cracked up to be - the masters don't want to teach him, the students laugh at him, and it feels that no one actually wants him here. Then, his host's daughter asks him to go swimming with her. Maybe not quite "no one."
@loki-hargreeves' July Writing Challenge Prompt 7/31: birthday kiss in the rain
Word Count: 2,544
Pairing: Loki x Sigyn
A/N: We did it! We made it to the end of the challenge! I can't believe I actually finished it - thank you to everyone who's read or interacted or commented with the stories I've posted this month. It was a lot of fun! I haven't written this regularly since finishing my senior thesis in college (which those of you who've been around for a bit will remember was an absolute disaster that I was scared had burned me out permanently), so it's felt really healing to get back into writing regularly again. I hope to continue it moving forward! Also, if you'll remember, I swapped the 7/11 and 7/31 prompts so that I could post the birthday fic on my actual birthday, so that's why I'm posting kiss in the rain today.
If you want to be tagged, feel free to send an ask/message!!
Read it on Ao3!
It was raining, but that was alright. Loki hadn’t many plans for the day - nothing more than sitting curled by the fire with his textbooks, practicing incantations, maybe finishing his assignments for the week while watching the rain stream down the windowpane. It wasn’t like he could do much else. Vanir storms were monstrous. What they lacked in Asgard’s thunder and lightning, they made up for in sheer volume. Before his studies here, Loki had never seen such downpours.
But it was for the best. He really needed to work. Learning seidr from Asgardian masters at home had been one thing. He had been the top of all his classes, running proverbial laps around his fellow students, the pride and joy of all his teachers. On Vanaheim, though, it seemed he couldn’t do anything right. Spells that had always come easy to him were now ones he couldn’t seem to do right. His incantation work was too sloppy, his spell form either too relaxed or too stiff - somehow both, sometimes, in the very same spell. Teachers barred Allspeak during class, and so he stumbled through his lessons in uncertain Vanir, pretending he didn’t notice how the classroom tittered every time his Asgardian accent got the best of him.
The Vanir masters hadn’t wanted to teach him. Loki knew this, even before they made it abundantly clear in his lessons. His mother had begged them to take him as a student, even though he was not a true Vanir.
“He possesses a natural inclination to seidr far beyond his years,” she had argued with them in her scrying room, Loki standing still and silent by her side. “I was born and raised and trained on Vanaheim. Vanir blood runs through my veins. Surely my son is worthy of the same honor.”
At the end of the day, though, it was his father who had managed to procure his acceptance, not through heartfelt beseechment, but through the command of the All Father, one that even the strongest in Vanaheim could not refuse. It seemed they were rather bitter over it all.
No matter. Loki was determined to prove them wrong. Day after day, he threw himself into his studies, drowning in spellwork and theory until his eyes were so heavy they felt they might fall from his skull. Today would be no different.
No different—
“Loki!” Sigyn’s voice nearly made him jump from his seat. She leaned over his armchair, brown curls practically vibrating with excitement. “Want to go swimming?”
And so, that’s how Loki found himself abandoning his books by the fire and instead stumbling after his host’s daughter through the marsh, blinking to see clearly through the pouring rain.
“Are you certain this is wise?” he cried out over the deluge.
Sigyn flashed her sparkling smile at him over her shoulder. “Sure!” she grinned. “Don’t worry, I do it all the time.”
That sounded about right. If anyone was the type to see a storm as perfect swimming weather, it was Sigyn Brynjarrdottir. When Loki had first arrived at her house (her father had been kind enough to host him during his studies, although Loki suspected he was about as pleased about his presence here as everyone else was), she had been on the roof of their mansion, standing on the edge in her stocking feet as she tried to place a bird back in its nest in a neighboring tree. She had nearly slipped as they were walking up the path, and for a moment Loki was certain she’d fall and split her head open, but she caught her balance with an airy little giggle, only to rappel down the side of the house with the crawling ivy as a rope.
“Couldn’t you have used seidr?” her father had asked in a sickened sort of disbelief.
She shrugged. “Probably. But I didn’t want to scare the bird!”
She was essentially Loki’s only classmate who seemed interested at all in speaking to him outside of lessons. Most made a point of ignoring his existence once they were released from their work, but Sigyn would sit down with him for meals and ask him questions about Asgard, about the palace, if the gardens were really as big as she had heard. It was nothing more than politeness, probably, playing the caring hostess, but Loki was grateful all the same.
He was a little starstruck, too - he shared most of his lessons with her, and so he was well aware of how talented she was when it came to practicing seidr. While the rest of the class flailed about trying to alter the appearance of their chosen animal, Sigyn sat back in her place in the back of the room, the kitten sleeping on her desk turned pink as a rose like it was the easiest thing in the world, even leaning to the side and helping the person beside her when they had given up in frustration. It was one of the most impressive things Loki had ever witnessed. No wonder her father had wanted her to use seidr for the bird.
And she was rather pretty, too. Not that that made a difference or anything, but … she was. Even when he was following her through a mud-sodden swamp for a mid-downpour swim.
She stopped at the crest of a hill, pointing to something that lay beyond it. “Look, there it is!”
Loki hurried to her side so that he might see. It was a pond, he realized, squinting through the rain - nestled into a little burrow of greenery, shielded by weather-worn branches, the surface churning with the fury of the rain.
Next to him, with her dress sticking to her legs and her hair flattened down her back by the weight of the water, Sigyn seemed wild with ecstasy.
“Usually it looks more like a puddle,” she explained. “It all drains out to see once the rain’s over. But during—“ She giggled, and hurried to the shore.
Loki followed with thinly veiled concern. “But our things - won’t they all wash away?”
“That’s why I do this!” She dropped the woven bag she had been hauling along with her on the embankment, and procured a length of rope. With practiced fingers, she looped it through the bag’s straps and tied it securely to a thick tree branch above her head, leaving it to dangle in the air. “Just put whatever you’re not wearing into the pond in here - it’ll hold.”
She was already unbuttoning the front of her dress, peeling the wet fabric from her body so nonchalantly that Loki had to glance away, cheeks burning. Norns - she had something to wear whilst swimming, didn’t she? He hadn’t expected - oh, praise Ymir, she had an underdress beneath it. It was thin, though, and white, and clinging to her form even more than the outer layer - Loki forced himself to keep his eyes trained on her face.
Sigyn herself seemed completely unbothered, stashing her dress and then moving to her boots. They were bulkier, and already soaked in mud, and so instead of leaving them to her bag, she tied them together with a separate bit of rope and hung them over the branch on their own.
She grinned back at him over her shoulder, the rain dripping down her form. “Well? You coming?”
Loki jumped a little bit without meaning to. “Ah - yes, of course—” He fumbled with the fastenings on his vest, hyper aware of her eyes on him. Norns, this was a first - never in a thousand millennia had he pictured stripping in the rain in front of a pretty girl … in front of any girl really. The blood rushed to his face again at the thought.
Ultimately, he stopped at his tunic and his trousers, too anxious to undress any further. Once his things were safely stowed, Sigyn giggled and went splashing into the water.
“Come on!”
Loki followed, a little more trepidatiously - the mud of the embankment is slick and squishy, squelching beneath his toes as he walked. He gasped once the water finally crashed around his calves, but even with the rain, it was much warmer than he expected. Sigyn was already far ahead, waving at him from chest deep water.
“Come on!” she cried out again, over the roar of the storm. “Race you to the center!”
“Race- Sigyn!” But she was already splashing off in a flurry. Loki huffed a sigh and kicked off after her. This seemed like a terrible idea. He liked swimming well enough, but the rain pounded his face like hail every time he tried to look up, with the hazy fog of the rain clouds making distance near impossible to gauge. How would they even know once they reached the center? Norns, that Sigyn - he could see her, at least, up ahead looking more dolphin than human. He supposed she’d be the star of the class, once they reach transformation …
His foot brushed against something slimy, and Loki flinched. A fish? Something else? What sort of creatures might live in this thing? No, there couldn’t be - Sigyn had said that this wasn’t a permanent body of water. Although he supposed frogs might lay their eggs in the muck … He felt it again, but firmer this time, stronger, colder … a rock. That’s what he had been getting worked up about, an algae-covered rock. Loki huffed. Norns, what a fool. Luckily Sigyn hadn’t been there to witness that, at least …
Sigyn.
He had lost sight of Sigyn.
“Sigyn?” Loki whipped around, trying to squint through the rain for any sign of a disturbance in the water, but everything looked the same in the stormy haze. There was no sign of her. He paddled further out - the center, she said she wanted to go to the center - but still, he couldn’t see her. How long had it been? She couldn’t have been out of his sight for more than a moment, that couldn’t have been long enough— “Sigyn?”
He was treading water now, the pond too deep for him to stand, moving as fast as he could as the panic in his chest grew to a frenzy. Where could she be? Could she have drowned that quickly? Oh, why did he ever look away? He should’ve known better, this was all his fault—
All at once, something grabbed his foot. Loki didn’t have the chance to yelp before he was dragged beneath the churning water. A sea creature? Had it attacked Sigyn? He thrashed, frantically, but then a light flickered in front of him.
It was Sigyn, grinning as widely as ever, her hair floating around her head in the water like a halo. In her hands, she cupped the light source - a simple trick, one Loki had learned as a child, an artificial fire one could summon to their palm. For a moment, all he could do was stare. She smirked at him and winked.
When they finally came up for air, crashing through the surface to the deluge on the surface, Loki was sputtering in disbelief. Any relief of seeing her alive soon melted away at the sound of her teasing laughter, echoing across the water. He scowled.
“What were you thinking?” he cried. He wanted to grab her shoulders and shake her with every word. “I thought you had drowned—”
Sigyn only cackled more. “Why, your highness - I thought you liked tricks!”
“Tricks?!” There was a teasing lilt to her voice that cut into him like a knife. “Is that why you brought me out here? To mock me?”
Her face faltered. “What? No - no, not at all—”
But Loki had had enough. He turned back towards the shore, swimming with all his might. He shouldn’t have come out here. He shouldn’t have come to Vanaheim at all - what good had it done? What has he learned, aside from the fact that he can serve as cheap entertainment to those who wish to bother with him? Mother had been wrong. He didn’t deserve to be here.
“Loki - Loki, wait—“ Sigyn was coming up behind him - Loki tried to shrug her away, but she was just as strong of a swimmer as he was, and caught up to him with ease. She grasped his forearm. “I’m sorry -“ she gasped. “I went too far. I was just trying to joke, I didn’t mean to hurt you …”
Loki huffed, and turned around. She seemed genuinely distressed - her brow all furrowed in worry as she looked up at him. Guilt pricked at his heart. He shouldn’t have snapped at her.
“It’s alright. I just …” he sighed. He was so tired of feeling stupid. “… Ever since I’ve come here, I’ve only been seen as a nuisance or a joke. I’m not sure there’s anyone who truly wants me to be here.”
“Oh Loki …” she shook her head vehemently. “That’s not true at all!”
“It is - I’m not blind, Sigyn. If Odin hadn’t made his decree, I wouldn’t even be here to begin with.”
“But …” Sigyn pressed her lips together, letting out a soft breath. “… I’m glad you’re here.”
Loki exhaled, looking away. The words felt nice, but …“You don’t need to say that—”
“It’s true!” She smiles gently - her bottom teeth were slightly crooked, he realized. He had never noticed that before. There was something charming about it. “You know, I’ve never brought anyone here before.”
That was a surprise. Didn’t Sigyn have no shortage of friends? “But - why bring me?”
“Because I wanted you to come.” She was grinning again, rocking slightly in the water as she held her hands together behind her back. The rain was finally starting to lessen.
Loki frowned. “… why?”
A beat passed. Suddenly, Sigyn was leaning forward, her lips brushing against his before he had any chance to realize what it was she was doing - soft, damp, salty with the taste of rain. It was brief, so very brief. By the time he had registered what was happening, she was already pulling away again.
“That’s why,” she whispered against his skin.
Loki stared. It felt as though all of the air had been whisked from his lungs.
Before him, Sigyn swallowed - for the first time since he met her, she actually looked a bit uncertain. “Is … is that alright?”
The spell broke, and Loki remembered how to breathe again. “Oh, oh yes, I -” he let out a breathless huff of a laugh - what was happening?! “Forgive me, I’ve never - I mean, I didn’t expect—”
Norns - did this mean she likes him? That she wished to court? Loki had never courted before - in all honestly he hadn’t the slightest idea how to go about doing such a thing, did it necessitate a formal announcement? Or did she even want such a thing? Were things different on Vanaheim—
There was that grin again, smiling up at him - her eyes sparkled like stars. “You’re cute when you blush,” she teased.
Loki sputtered. “I - I’m no such thing—“
“Of course not.” Sigyn chuckled. She gripped his hand in hers, interlacing their fingers beneath the water. Her touch sent sparks up his arm. “Come, my prince. I have more to show you.”
Young Prince Loki of Asgard is the God of Mischief and Chaos, the wild and unscrupulous little brother of Thor, and the son of the King of the Æsir.
Being second in the line of succession, Loki meticulously performs his palace duties by day, but by night he can be found living up to his reputation as a hard-core partying playboy.
Alas, a prince of Asgard cannot remain a fun-loving bachelor forever. Loki's world is turned upside down when duty calls for him to take a wife. His parents have betrothed him to the daughter of the most prominent Lord in the kingdom.
Loki would rather be dragged to Hel than to the altar, that is, until he finally lays eyes on his bride-to-be. Meeting Sigyn cracks the foundation on which he built his hedonistic reputation.
Can Loki give up his philandering lifestyle and become the husband Sigyn deserves? The Nornir have brought the two of them together; will outside forces tear them apart?

I understand life is hard so please have this and write more again soon when you can 💕✨
I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.
It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.
Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.
Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.
I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.
I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭
I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.
Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).
I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).
The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.
My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.

(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!
Could you write a Logyn mini-story where they both watch the MCU Loki series and they absolutely destroy it Mystery Science Theater 3000 style please? Might feel a bit cathartic for Logyn shippers like me

You hurried to the locker rooms, unable to contain the excitement and the butterflies in your stomach. You stowed your helmet then your vest, inside the locker and hung your baton and TemPad on the door.
“Where are you off to in a hurry?” Hunter D-72 asked. “You’re having another date with your mystery man again, aren’t you?” she said as she took her armor off. You just smiled, buttoning down your shirt and smoothing over you’re A-line skirt. “Bless the Time Keepers! How long have you been here and you already got a boyfriend? I’ve been here two years! Two. Long. Mother fuckin’ years! And had no one looking at me!” You laughed as you buckled your heels into place.
“I’m just lucky I guess. It wasn’t like I was looking for someone. He just kinda…found me.” You smiled at her.
“Well, does he have a friend? You know what, never mind. If they ain’t a hunter, I don’t want ‘em. I don’t want any pencil pushers. Keepers know this agency’s got enough of ‘em.” You placed your hand on her shoulder as a way of solidarity and goodbye then started off.
She was right though. Being a hunter for the TVA had a different lifestyle. It was suspenseful and required long gritty hours. You were often the first on the scene and the first ones to bring back any variants that you captured. So like tends to like as most of the hunters get together and a lot of the ‘pencil pushers,’ as you guys like to call the analysts, stay within each other’s company too.
But your boyfriend was different. He wasn’t an analyst or a hunter. He had a name. Only the higher-ups ever get a name. He was also a variant - the only variant in the TVA.
A dangerous one, so Loki himself says. Mobius says he’s more like a kitten with a tiger’s growl, and you would have to agree.
Most variants end up being reset. You had no idea how Loki had managed to keep himself from being pruned and stay here working with the TVA.
You supposed his charm had a lot to do with it. You first met each other while accompanying Mobius to capture one of Loki’s more dangerous variants. Mobius wanted you and your team to secure the perimeter while he gathered temporal evidence. You could tell right away that Mobius was agitated at seeing you. He was hurried in giving you instructions. As if he wanted you to leave his presence immediately before Loki came.
Sure enough, that was when Loki showed up through the TemPad portal. Mobius had a look of defeat and resignation in his eyes as Loki came up to you.
Loki couldn’t keep his eyes off of you. He stumbled on his words. Not listening to Mobius and often having to ask him to repeat himself. While Mobius begrudgingly collected his temporal evidence, Loki followed you like a lost kitten, securing the perimeter.
That was three months ago. Loki had asked you out to lunch, and since then you’ve been joined at the hip whenever either of you was free.
A hand grabbed you from behind, halting your musings, and pushed you against a dark corner of the hallway. You tried to scream and fight as they covered your mouth and pressed up against you.
“Shh. Shh. It’s me.” Loki said letting go of your mouth.
“Loki! Don’t sneak up on me like that!”
“Hello there, darling,” Loki said as he kissed you passionately. You wound your arms around his neck, pulling him closer while giggling like a schoolgirl about to get caught. “I’ve missed you terribly.”
“And I, you,” you said giving him one last kiss on his soft lips. “So what are we going to do tonight?”
“I thought we could do the usual? Movie. Popcorn. Obscenely making fun of the stupidity that people get themselves into.” He said with a laugh. “But with a twist.”
“Hmm. Does that twist end up with us naked by the end of the night?” You asked unashamedly.
“Good Fates, I hope it does!” he leaned over you for another kiss, grinding you against the wall. “Come on. I want to show you something.”
He led you to Time Theater 18, where he set up a comfy-looking couch, large enough to be a bed. It was bedecked with pillows, a blanket, and a small tray of food to the side. “Where did all this come from?” you asked, wide-eyed and excited.
“I had to pull a few strings.”
“Casey?”
“Casey!” Loki nodded. “I thought we could…watch this tonight.” Loki handed you a film reel marked “ETH-616/Loki Laufeyson.” You looked up at him concerned.
“Loki. This is your life.”
“I know, darling. Like I said, ‘the stupidity that people get themselves into.’ Come.” Loki took back the reel and bade you sit down while he set up the projector.
“Are you sure, Loki? You know, we could just talk and I can ask questions to get to know you. Like a normal couple would. You don’t have to do this.” You underhandedly joked. You were always curious about his life. But you figured that both of you had enough time to learn about each other.
“When have we ever been a conventional couple? Plus, I’m ready for you to get to know me. All of me.” He said as he took a seat next to you. A warm blush rose in your cheeks and traveled throughout your body. He was purposely letting himself be vulnerable with you. Your heart sparked new love as you settled next to him on the couch. His arm over your shoulders and your head on his chest.
The film started with Odin finding a baby Loki on Jotunheim. “Awe, look at you! You were so cute as a baby!” you squealed with delight. “Wait! Why is Odin taking you? Is he kidnapping you?” You screamed with horror.
“You know, to this day, I have no idea why he took me.” His voice was laced with pain and sorrow. How would Loki’s life differ if he had stayed in Jotunheim? If Odin had just left him?
Although, if Odin did forsake Loki, he would be the one taken by the TVA. I suppose it had to happen.
“You were a treasure. Odin knew it and saw it. He would be a fool not to take something as valuable as you.” You said, patting his chest. Loki smiled at you, a small thank you for your kind words.
You tried to appease Loki. But secretly, you wished that Odin would accidentally fall onto something sharp, preferably your blade, while you were holding it.
“Let’s fast forward a bit shall we?” Loki took the remote and forwarded the projection. It stopped with Thor running through the gardens of Asgard.
“Guys wait up,” Thor said as he tried catching up to two other boys. One with unruly red hair and the other, a sleek blonde. They all looked to be about eight or nine.
“That’s Fandral. And the rather portly one is Volstagg.” Loki said pointing to the two boys respectively.
“Fandral? Volstagg? What kind of names are those?”
“Asinine ones,” Loki said derisively, taking a handful of popcorn.
Fandral had stopped and yelled, “Come on. We’ll miss it.” Thor bent down to catch his breath, placing his hands on his knees.
“Awe, poor god of thunder out of breath?” Loki criticized, stuffing popcorn into his mouth.
Something shiny glistened in Thor’s peripheral vision. He looked over to see a beautiful emerald snake slithering out of the tall grass.
“Is that you? That’s you, isn’t it? Fifty credits say that’s you.” You exclaimed.
“Hello there, beautiful,” Thor said to the snake as he got closer. The snake continued to slither across the path, eager to get to the other side.
“Leave me alone! I’m just a poor venomous snake, minding my own business.” Loki mocked in a high-pitched voice, making you giggle in your seat.
Thor wasn’t having that. He wanted to play with it. He wanted to see the iridescent scale catch the sunlight. “I love snakes. Would you like to be my pet, dear snake?” Thor said aloud.
“Come on Thor! We’re gonna miss it!” Volstagg yelled out.
“Volstagg couldn’t wait for that damned buffet at the great hall!” Loki remarked.
“In a minute!” Thor went to grab the snake that was almost to the dense grass on the other side. As soon as he picked up the snake, it wound itself around his arm and bit him. Thor let out a loud yell as smoke began to blow all around him.
“Yaaah. It’s me.” You heard Loki’s young voice through the smoke. Thor’s grip only got tighter around Loki’s arm. “Unhand me!” Then you saw him take out a small dagger and stab Thor in the hand, releasing his grip.
“I knew it! I knew it was you!” you said proudly.
“Well done, darling,” Loki said kissing your temple. “I don’t have credits. But perhaps I could pay you with something else?” He said as he peppered kisses onto your face, making you laugh.
“Loki!” Thor yelled in anger. Loki only laughed.
“Serves you right! Picking up strange creatures you know nothing about.” Loki continued his way through the grass as if he didn’t just stab the future king of Asgard.
“I can’t believe you stabbed him!” You laughed as you playfully hit Loki on the shoulder.
“Serves him right. The boy had too many pets already. Why in the heaven’s would he want another snake?”
The night continued on, with Loki skipping to different parts of his life. When he got to the Battle of New York. You had booed when the Avengers came on the screen and defeated Loki, throwing popcorn at the projection. “They’re a construction worker short of becoming the next Village People.” You said and Loki laughed.
He jumped forward again to a scene where he was put in a cell for his crimes against Midgard. A cloaked figure came to visit him. You couldn’t see their face, only that Loki had looked at them fondly.
“Ooh, who is that mystery person?”
“No one. Let’s just skip to the next scene, shall we?”
“Loki. It’s ok if it’s a past love. I’m fine. I understand. I wouldn’t hold that against you. I’ve had previous lovers before too. We’re together now. That’s all that matters.” You tried to soothe.
“Loki what have you done?” The figure said forlornly. Their voice sounded so familiar.
“Took you long enough!” he spat out in his cell. “Ashamed to be connected to the disgraced prince of Asgard? Is that why you haven’t come to visit me sooner? Have you come to renounce our marriage?” Loki’s tone was acerbic and hurtful.
“No, Loki, I have not! Odin has purposely kept me away from seeing you. I’m only here because Frigga has snuck me in. I needed to see you.”
“Why? So you can tell me how stupid I was for trying to invade Midgard?”
“To tell you that I loved you! I love you still.” The mystery person’s hood fell as she yelled. Revealing your face. “I mourned you!”
You gasped aloud in the theater. Seeing your face on the projection. What does this mean? Am…I a variant?
Loki had just watched you this whole time. He was so brave at the beginning of the night. He was so sure that he was ready for you to learn about this. But the closer you got to certain parts of his life, he started to question whether this was the right thing to do. To tell you the truth. You were blissfully happy living in ignorance. Would he be cruel to take that away from you?
“I mourned you, Loki. I thought you had died. I cried in the arms of your mother every night since you left. And when you came back, not a word, a single note to say you were alright or that you had thought about me. I had to watch you try to take over Midgard. What happened, my love? Why?” you yelled.
“My loyal Sigyn. I did this for us.”
“Lies! You did this for yourself. You know all I ever wanted was to be by your side. Whether you were a prince or a pauper.”
“What good would a pauper do to help you? To give you what you needed?”
“Was my love not enough?”
“Was mine?!” he yelled back.
“It was everything.” You answered back in a soft voice.
You looked to Loki. His eyes never left your face, watching you as you watched the screen. Tears glistened at the corners of his eyes, threatening to fall.
“How long have you known?” you whispered.
“Since I first saw you. Mobius was quite angry at the turn of events. I don’t think he anticipated you showing up. He tried to dangle your presence in the TVA as bait for me to cooperate. So when I finally did see you, he knew he had to find something else to motivate me in compliance.” Loki admitted.
That explains Mobius’s sharp behavior that night. “He knows we’ve been seeing each other. He’s keeping it a secret from Ravonna. So we can continue to be together.”
“Wh…Why would she care?” you asked confused.
“Because we’re both variants.”
“But if I’m a variant then everyone else is a variant too! This whole place is a lie!”
“Shh. Darling, please. It’s the only way we could be together.” He begged you. “We’ll both be pruned if they know that we know. You must keep it a secret!”
“Loki. Is this more of your lies?”
“No, my dear Sigyn. No more lies. Not for you. That’s why I wanted to tell you.”
“Sigyn? Th-that’s not my…my designation is Hunter L-52! I – I can’t. I have to get out of here.”
Loki let you go. Watching you leave him alone as the projection on the screen replayed his last dying breath to the Mad Titan.
Loki found you in a time theater watching a projection of your life. You had stacks of reels next to you. ETH-616/Sigyn Laufeyson. ETH-507/Y/N Laufeyson. ETH-199999/Y/N Y/LN.
It had been days since he last saw you. He wanted to give you space. To deal with it in your own way. Until Mobius had alerted him to what you were doing.
“Darling.” He called out. He stood next to you as you sat there continuing to watch yourself on the screen.
“It’s our wedding day. I was so nervous that you wouldn’t show up. Thor and The Warriors Three took you out the night before for a surprise stag party. Lady Sif had to reassure me by supplying me with mead.” You laughed at the memory you never had. “Good thing we Asgardians have a good constitution against alcohol, right?”
“I’m sorry my love. I never meant for you to go through this alone.” Loki said.
“Why? Why tell me now?”
“Because you had a right to know. Most importantly, because I made a promise that you were the one person I would never lie to.”
“Am I even your person? Who am I? There are so many variations of me.”
“My Sigyn died in my timeline. Protecting the Queen and Jane Foster from the dark elves’ attack on the palace. I led them straight to her. And I regret it every day since.”
“Is this some sick way for you to liberate yourself from that guilt?” You asked angrily.
“No, darling.” Loki knelt in front of you, seeing you eye to eye, blocking your view of the video playing on the wall. “I never expected to see you again. I accepted it as my punishment. And when I did see you. I vowed to never take it for granted. I know you are not my Sigyn. And I am not your Loki. But if watching any of these reels have shown you, I hope it has shown you that I am completely and madly in love with you.
“No matter what version or form you take. No matter who you may be or become. That no matter what your name is, no matter what happens, you will always be my Sigyn.” Loki cupped your cheek and brought your crying face closer to his. He kissed your tears. One on each cheek. “I will always find my way to you.” Then sought your lips.
His kiss brought on a new meaning now. It has depth and history. A complete feeling of the soul finding soul. You didn’t realize the depth of emotion and affection it had until now.
You cried harder into his kiss, hugging him tighter, feeling at home. “What happened to me? How come I can’t remember my past life? Was I reset?”
His eyes grew heated and his demeanor changed to that of a betrayed and tyrannical king. “Yes, darling, you were. And I will burn this place to the ground, the Time Keepers along with it, for having touched you.”
