Hey cap! In chapter 699 when Sasuke left the village for his redemption journey, he said goodbye twice and there’s a huge difference between those two instances. Can you please make a comparison between the two instances? just so we are all clear who really matters to him (although we all know the answer to that already).
Thank you and have a good day! And if you are celebrating christmas then Merry Christmas as well your blog is really a blessing and a big eye opener to the fandom. 😊
Merry Christmas to you too, Anon.
Chapter 699, Goodbye??
I never considered Sasuke's talk with Naruto as a gesture of Goodbye, you know.... It didn't even remotely gave me that vibe.
This panel looks like a proper Goodbye where Sakura and Kakashi is sending him off and Sasuke looks like he is walking towards the Horizon.... In most medias, when someone sees the Back of the person they wave Goodbye to, then most of the times they will never see them again. It represents a sense of Finality.
For Example,
This scene is from one of my favourite movie Kill Bill, where the Girl, Beatrix said her Goodbye and seeing him (Bill) walking away.... Couple of seconds later, he would fall down to his eventual death.
This is another instance from a TV Series, Game of Thrones, where Ned Stark was watching his wife Catelyn riding off to her faraway home. But this will be the last time they will share a scene together because Ned will be dead eventually.
Well, We have one in our Narutoverse itself and that scene always kills me...
Technically Sasuke didn't say Goodbye but it's a visual symbolism that this will be last time Sasuke will see Itachi as his Beloved Brother, atleast for a very long time...
Man... These kind of Visual Symbolism always makes me sad...
Not to mention before taking off, he did the Forehead Poke to Sakura saying, 'Maybe Next Time'
I've said it many times that this Gesture represents 'Lying' or 'Distancing oneself' and also there is an uncertainty in his word 'Maybe'. Whether he will ask her to come with him again or not... It's all left open.
I don't know how SS peeps takes any of these scenes as Romantic. To me, it screams... 'That's all'... There's no token of Love Exchange, like a Kiss or a Fancy Locket or a Photo or anything...
However when it comes to Naruto though...
"I'll save it until I have the real match with you"
This is the last thing he spoke to Naruto in Chapter 699... And None of his words gives off this feeling of saying Good Bye or something... It's clearly gives this hopeful, 'I'm looking forward to you...' kind of message.. There's no uncertainty or watching the back symbolism like I explained above...
And they exchanged a Token of their Bond...
This is a Symbol that represents as to where Sasuke belongs and whom he bonded with...
Of Course, Years later, we see Sasuke was carrying that same Hitai Ate as something precious...
And then we also see that Sasuke & Naruto were both playing their funny Rivalry Contest even at this Age like some silly kids as they spoke earlier...
All these indicates, N and S were both in contact with each other regularly and play these funny contests through their Letters or Meetings...
That's why I never felt Chapter 699 is a Goodbye between Naruto and Sasuke... In fact, it's an hopeful message that their Bond continues no matter how distant they lives away from each other...
happy november 5th, canon sasusaku's 7th birthday ♡
