There exists a really high quality rip of the One Piece Colored manga in 2400p. That’s right it’s at a higher resolution than 4K. But I’m not going to be re-releasing my Nico Robin pages with those scans for three reasons 1) They’re RAW only, and I don’t want to bother translating them 2) While convincing, it is in fact an upscale. You can tell because it gets rid of tone sheets 3) Tumblr will probably just downscale it anyways.
AMV based on episode 808 and chapters 843-844. Luffy's and Sanji's battle, one of the heartbreaking moments in the whole series so wanted to make a video abo...

ps. Video might not be available for mobile devices due copyright things, sorry about that beforehand! :<
There are tons of amv ideas I’d like to do but unfortunately I don’t have much time to edit so most of them just stay as random visions inside my mind (”Nami on tavallinen nainen“ was an exception though) because usually they don’t sound so good after translated into other languages but since this chorus has been in my head for quite a while and I’ve wanted to make a Sanji vs Luffy fight amv, I gave it a try and here we are!
As said, the copyright thingies might set some limitations so let me know as soon as possible if it doesn’t work so I can see if anything is to be done so everyone could enjoy this. Also feel free to leave some feedback as well, I’m still practicing with the Adobe Premiere so the result might be clumsy so don’t ever hesitate to drop a hint if you feel like something should be trained :)!
(btw, extremely sorry for the crappy potato quality, should have set better settings in the beginning for HD etc. but couldn’t change them later... D:)
There’s a few things that are really bothering me about the last few chapters, but what’s been bouncing around my mind the most is the theme of trust that’s run subtly through them. And the sympathetic feelings toward Pudding that have changed for me after rereading the chapters a couple more times.
In 845, we get this series of panels. At this point, Pudding has already rambled on about their feelings, cried, blushed and reacted in a sympathetic way to Sanji’s story. A story which was shared out of trust, seeing as Pudding is the only one Sanji feels he can talk to. A part of this may be due to the fact that Pudding is playing the part of an ally. She’s told him about trying to help Luffy and Nami, and so now in Sanji’s eyes, she’s someone who cares about his feelings. He thinks she’s his only ally in his current situation.
But look at the third panel with the lighting flashing in the room, and the thunder clapping in the background. Now imagine that animated. We know for a fact that’s the storm Big Mom created after Luffy and Nami defeated Cracker, and sent an army their way. Sanji is standing there, embracing Pudding and talking about their wedding day, while his friends are being attacked somewhere in the distance. It’s such an ominous scene, in context. Especially because Pudding is very likely in on it.
Why?
Well, in 843, Luffy and Nami’s trust in Pudding has gotten them nowhere. They followed her map and trusted her to bring them to Sanji. Not only does this not happen, but she was a total no-show, which makes this whole situation start to feel much more like a set up than a failed attempt to help. On top of that, Pudding proved herself a liar in 845 by saying she only just met Sanji. She told Luffy and the others she’d met him once before, likely to earn their trust and give them more confidence in her.
In 845, we see Pudding pass Sanji a note. This looks promising. Maybe she’ll excitedly tell him that his friends are here to help him, unaware that he already met them? Maybe she’s going to help him think of a way out of this situation, or a way for them to leave the island after they are married?
When we do see the meeting, in my first read through, it was the conversation that surprised me. Sanji is very open and honest with Pudding, and shows her his face, even though it looks terrible. He isn’t flirtatious. He’s miserable, and not even her cuteness can cheer him up.
Pudding offers no helpful ideas on helping his escape, either. Maybe that’s not her fault. She does seem to think the cuffs are a big problem, and she hardly knows the Straw Hat crew. She doesn’t really owe them anything. And from what we’ve seen from the Charlotte family (especially Lola), marriage is a big deal.
But she did ask Sanji to speak in private, so why are there homies in the room? Are they always there? Does each of Big Mom’s children have homies that keep tabs on them? Or is it because Sanji and Pudding shouldn’t be allowed to be alone together? Or are there just so many homies, everywhere, that they’re impossible to escape? It’s strange, and suspicious, but it’s difficult to say if Pudding or Big Mom planted the homies, or if they’re just the norm.
The last major suspicion I have with Pudding has to deal with her third eye. Sanji spills his guts to her, but she doesn’t share anything about herself. Again, maybe this is an insignificant detail, but you would think a third eye would be something you’d show your future husband. I think there’s a reason she keeps it hidden, and I don’t think it’s because she’s ashamed of it.
The third eye is usually associated with deep insight and enhanced perception. Does Pudding have the ability to know people on some different level? She knows exactly what to say to Nami and Luffy to get them to trust her. She then not only gets Sanji to talk, but also ends up getting him to comfort her, AND confirm that he will go through with the marriage and leave his days of adventure behind.
At first I thought she was the sweetest thing, but now I’m thinking she’s a master manipulator. And I think that eye helps her.
Which wouldn’t surprise me, considering this irony: Sanji is easily manipulated by women throughout the series. Now he meets a woman he isn’t swooning over. He seems rational and somber. But in the end, she’s the woman who manipulates him most effectively, because he doesn’t even realize she’s doing it.
And I doubt the dishonestly ends there.
This panel doesn’t sit well with me. Big Mom says, “I guarantee it shall be a day that none of us forgets!”
Maybe I’m seeing monsters in the shadows, but that sounds ominous as hell. Does Big Mom have something planned for the Vinsmokes? For Sanji? Is this whole wedding some sort of set up? Only Oda knows, and he has the week off next week T.T
I kinda wish the rest of the Straw Hat crew was there for this moment in chapter 843.
I want to know what their reactions would have been, besides just Luffy and Nami.
Especially Zoro. We all know that Zoro was actually respecting Sanji’s wishes to handle this on his own ... well, kinda blaming him for “causing trouble” as well.
Before this Zoro outlined the bigger picture of the fact they’re also dealing with Kaido, the other Yonko. So yeah, this is very bad timing for Sanji’s past to come creeping up on them.
Zoro bashes Sanji on the surface, but I agree with Luffy here. Zoro probably also respects Sanji’s wish to handle this alone. Why? Probably because I think Zoro does understand that it’s personal for Sanji, and that Sanji really didn’t want to trouble them with it.
If Zoro thinks Sanji can handle this on his own, I think that is evidence of his respect for him. His grudging respect but respect none the less.
Problem is, as shown with all that leverage being held over Sanji’s head, it looks like Sanji can’t do this alone.
So I wonder how Zoro would react to this if he was there, to see Sanji putting up a rather bad and desperate farce.
