Portgas D Ace Rant

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about Ace’s timeline since chapter 912 aired. Something bugs me.

Spoilers ahead!

Ace was born on Baterilla, a year and three months after Roger died. (Eleven months overdue) Garp took him to Dawn Island, where he spent the next 17 years of his life. 

After sailing out, he gathered his crew, the Spade pirates. Now, Tama was 5 years old when she met Ace and the Spade pirates. She’s 8 years old now, meaning she met them a year before the Marineford Arc. If they were a crew, independent of Whitebeard then, that would mean Ace was 19 years old. 

(P.S. We see him learning to weave hats in the picture. So Tama showed him how to do that, and he used the knowledge to make Oars his beloved hat.)

So, afterwards, he tried to take on Whitebeard and failed miserably. The next few days/weeks? He spent trying to kill the old man. But, he eventually grew to love him and the crew. 

Then, Blackbeard kills Thatch and Ace goes after him. He gets captured, ends up in Marineford and dies at the age of 20.

My point is…he spent less than a year with his warm and loving family. Whitebeard made such a positive change and good influence on him in such a short time. Imagine how happy and well adjusted he could have been if he had more time with Whitebeard and the crew.
