So this pretty much confirms it:
Afo had his eyes on both bakugou and izuku since their childhood! Only that he thinks highly of izuku and looks down on bakugou.
He knows things of bakugou, he shouldnt be able to know! He knows that bakugou grew up watching all mights victories and that it was his wish to archieve these things someday too. This is a PERSONAL information about bakugous childhood dreams afo CANT know about.... except if he had an informant. An very young, innocent little informant, talking with excitement about that boy with the cool powerful quirk, talking all day how one day he will surpass all might!

Thats a personal fear of bakugou afo ALSO shouldnt be aware of... except if he watched both boys from afar without them noticing. He saw that bakugou was the one stalking izuku. Not leaving him alone. Abusing him out of his fear of him. Driving to be better then him, without understanding what made izuku better then bakugou!
And it also shows afos clear distaste in bakugou as a person. Not only does he beat him up BADLY, he also openly mocks, insults, humiliates and shames him infront of a lot of other pro heroes, including his "mentor", homeroom teacher and monoma, someone bakugou REALLY doesnt like! And on the other side afo has a HIGH opinion of izuku! Tells bakugou to his face that he will never be as great as izuku! That he will always be nothing more then izukus shadow! That there is nothing noteworthy about him, except his relationship with izuku!
Afo is literally FANBOYING over izuku! If thats not what a proud dad sounds like, I dont know! And it makes perfect sense! As izukus father he would watch over him from afar, playing the normal allday father and husband. He would see how badly bakugou treats izuku, but cant effort to do something, because afo needs to lay his profile low. Doing something to bakugou, could endanger his own family.
So WHO needs to sacrefice his head instead and was turned into a nomou? Little tsubasa, one of bakugous minions and one of the kids who also bullied izuku. And WHO was little tsubasa related too? Right, dr garaki, the most loyal follower of afo! A man who has no problem to use children as his lab rats and sees afo as his god!
The pieces of the puzzle are all slowly falling into place!
