why are people so sure will isn’t jealous when all his old friends used to joke he’d get so mad if he wasn’t the center of your attention? i think will def hides it better than mack but he’s just as possessive if not more
i agree will needs to be everyone’s favourite at all times! i just think it manifests very differently for will bc it’s not so much that he needs to be One Person’s World the way mack does. mack needs will to focus on him and only him. he dgaf what fans media even their teammates think as long as will is not touching talking to looking at or breathing in the direction of anyone else. meanwhile will needs the barista at the vietnamese coffee shop by the sap center to give him extra salted cream for free bc he’s her favourite customer.
now i do think mack is new to will in that will has never let himself need any single person before. it’s always been the boys, he wants gabo and leno and voter and fowler and everyone to all like him best, but if leno wants to be all pissy and not wish him happy birthday it’s fine it’s FINE bc the rest of the boys are still gonna get dinner with will. no one person is integral. but now suddenly mack is integral, he’s foundational, and post-olympies we have seen the shift of will finally allowing himself to need one person.

long way of saying yes, will probably does get jealous of mack in his own way. but he’s not a jealous person so he doesn’t know how to deal with it, may not even know what it is. i just believe with my whole heart that if there is one thing that will “my parents bought a second house in MI so my mother could do my laundry during usndtp, my family takes cross-country flights to watch me play 50x a year” smith has never been insecure about in his anxious little life, it is loving and being loved.
