Ah no never! I've been meaning to try it out, a few of my friends and mutuals have recommended it for me ^-^ I'm hoping that if I stay focused I can make it into a hobby or something like that

Trying to do fanart. ;;; The six of crows duology from Leigh Bardugo is my absolute favourite novel, and I've read it twice by now just because I fall in love with Matthias and Nina all over again. But in all honesty, the characters have so much diversity and such unique traits I just... love them all??? I cannot decide??? I cry. LXLDLSLFMAO BUT I'll try to draw Jesper and Wylan too, hope I am doing them enough justice! (Also I hope to color it later xllssl)

Characters of Color, all with Mental Illnesses: Poor Message?

In a story that I’m currently planning the four main protags all have a mental illness (autism, PTSD, anxiety/depression and anti-social personality disorder) and are all PoC (black, arab and mixed), I’m keen to have a diverse cast and mental illness is something that means a lot to me personally and I did want to have it be a major theme of the story but now I’m worried that it could send a wrong message, since all the main protags (and probably some of the antags and side characters will as well once I start planning them more) are both PoC and have some mental illness. 

Would it be advisable to add some more PoC cast members who don’t have a mental illness, or white characters who do so it doesn’t come across as linking mental illness and race? (The story wasn’t originally going to have any white characters since it takes place in a fantasy world on what is the African continent analogue)

I think adding non-MI/disabled PoC would be the best way to go. Be careful not to link MI/disability with race in description as well. There’s plenty of opportunity in family members, friends, colleagues, etc. to add them in.
