astrology wise i think luffy's aries placements are all very early degrees but specifically mars or rising are at 0. But!!!!!!!!! i think bc his action ( that mars, 5H ) is very instinct driven, no thoughts, very go, spur of the moment — impulsive. all that very explosive, chaotic youthful of a 0 degree sign, ESPECIALLY in aries of all the signs his energy and how he exterts it is very raw, unfiltered, all out out out go go go.
his sagittarius placements, 11H moon & 1H jupiter are in the later degrees but SPECIFICALLY the 29th degree. theres a lot of drive, will, self determination in this degree, but mostly a sense of mastery. the themes of sagittarius, freedom-seeking, learning, exploration, expansion, growth, luck are imbedded in luffy from the start, through his dreams & how he holds onto the world – things he NEEDS ( 11H moon ) & what he embodies ( 1H jupiter ). the 29th degree is an urgent pull towards whats next, new horizons, karmic lessons, beginning and ends. story wise it fits soo good. luffy is growth he is expansion he is freedom he is exploration, naturally the 11H 'for friendship, for people, hopes & wishes the future,' + some crazyy aspects with uranus and or pluto makes for Theee coolest world reshaping human being.
anyways this is where i think i create the luffy contrast via astrology headcanon, what makes luffy luffy — why he's so special in a general sense as a soul but thematically and what it means for the story of one piece & the very function of luffy as a protagonist. the dichotomy of him that is so fascinating, hes a guy who simultaneously carries the light of the story, hes the smiles hes the laughter. the adventure and the fun, his nature is immature and childlike ( comparatively ) in the way hes present and uncomplicated in life. like someone told him when he was formed okay you are here to live, and he said bet and asked no questions. i am here to live — i'm here to explore, to learn, to love, to chase, to choose, his body has always known this truth and his mind nor anything else could tell him otherwise — which loops around to being incredibly HUGELY massively wise. this is what people live their whole lives to learn how to embody! people read books, people study, people travel the world and go through crazy life lessons to finally see. this is where we see inherited will in luffy, this is where we see his emotional intelligence, his humility, why his dream is not to own or to have power or to conquer but to BEEEE!
luffy is a human who started off the way most of us do but because he is who he is he never let anyone sway him from that initial truth. i am here to live!
( a caveat probably for another luffyposting but, i think this is where luffy's 'selfishness' or more specifically worlds most selfless selfishness comes from — he is here to live, to him it always is and has been ; "i am here to live." he is selfish because it is what he wants, thats why everything he does he does with so much fire. he tells you, or shows you. "you are here to live, too." ) (( whether thats you, the viewer, or you as in an op character )) or, lets drop the meta — his soul lesson to Yours.
I love using astrology characters as character charts. So I actually made a few for other characters too.
I wrote a post recently figuring out when Klaus's birthday was relatively. You can find that here.
With that said, I have figured out the astrology charts for multiple characters, including Klaus following a certain set of rules:
- Use a canon birthday, unless unstated, then their birthday is the airing date of the first episode they appear on. If that is a pilot episode, then it will be the last episode they are in, and if that is the season finale, then pick their first centric episode.
- Some characters have alluded to birthdays (like Klaus) and I say try to fit into what is alluded to. I chose the equinox for him because 1. That added up. And 2. he was born before the Gregorian calendar and with that, I think it would be pretty easy to remember for him to know he was born on the equinox (I like to headcanon that all of Esther's children were born on a celestial event of some kind bc she was a witch and controlled that idk---that said I still follow my rules for birthday picking).
-Secondly, timestamp of their exact moment of screen time is time of birth. I used the military time, but I also like to alternate. If last character was AM, next character was PM.
Klaus comes into frame for the first time in his first episode exactly at 9:57 in the episode, but because the character I chose a time of birthday for with the same method was am, he was born at 9:57 pm. I had to do the alternating thing because characters like Elena and Jeremy and Jenna were freakishly similar time stamps. And it felt more likely to have an alternation system.
With that, Mystic Falls is obviously a fictional town, but maps have provided us where irl towns reside near by. I chose Lynchburg for any character canonically born in Mystic Falls, as the rising sign wouldn't actually change form that distance. That said characters like Finn and Elijah are difficult because they have unknown birth place in presumed Norway. Klaus, Kol, Rebekah are luckily Mystic Falls born.
Katherine I chose the birth place of Vidin, simply because she was born into aristocracy--- and I could see her being born right on the outskirts or in Vidin itself.
But this post is about Klaus. He was turned at 23-25, in 1001, I decided to pick a middle like 24. And so he was born in the year 977.
So Klaus: 3/21/977 at 9:57pm.
And yes, some astrology charts can calculate that far back in time.

mars is aggression and drive (how we go after what we want) and mars is exalted in capricorn, meaning those with mars in capricorn (unless debilitated) are extremely efficient in going after what they want, achieving extraordinary results. however, this is largely due to how forceful, pushy, even selfish mars in capricorn can be - mowing down everyone and everything in their path to achieve their goals.
throughout snowfall we see franklin become increasingly ruthless, cold and outright cruel - all due to his relentless and unwavering ambition.
at first, franklin is not aggressive and even impresses those around him as a rather mild-mannered momma’s boy but he is already driven and brave. his need to go after what he wants and achieve his goals pushes him into places (and to people) that would easily turn others away. even when he is taken down the first few times, he shows very high resilience. no matter what, he keeps moving forward and he is extremely hardworking - once franklin had an objective in his sights that’s all he could see.
in the final season, faced with his highest challenge yet, he becomes so callous and violent that he ultimately turns on his own family and enlists the help of their known enemies (allying with anyone to fuel his goals). while his best friend stays loyal to him, in the end, even he refuses to enable franklin’s selfish ambition and distances himself.
snowfall’s story showcases a great progression of someone becoming undone by their mars in capricorn. from brave, resilient and hardworking to being obsessed with greed, power and control.
