Triple Baka, Sweet Cap’n Cakes edition.
This took me a few days and a hell of a lot of wrist cramps, but was it worth it? Kinda. I always feel indifferent about my work so maybe it is. 🙃👍
Reblogs appreciated, animatics take a lot of effort.

Not a soul:
Me: Ya know, I was a major part of the LBT fandom like ten years ago. It was my special interest back then, but specifically, I was heavily more interested in the character, Pterano. He was a common favorite, but he was also a common hated character, too. The fans of Pterano tended to excuse every bad thing he did in LBT 7, myself included. But I think another issue with the fandom was that they tended to forget that Pterano also experienced the horrors of watching his fraction of the herd massacred and eaten by the fast-biters. Like, yeah, he's ultimately responsible (I mean, how I see it: it wasn't his fault the sharpteeth showed up and the rock slide happened, but him flying away and leaving them was his fault. That being said, there were other factors that tie into it, too) but he was a victim, too.
Me: I don't know what exactly happened when he returned to the others that night. All I have to go on is "He never told us why it happened, only that it wasn't his fault," from Grandpa Longneck. How did they initially handle the situation? I was under the impression they booted him out the second he returned to them and I always thought that it could've been handled a lot more delicately. But maybe it was more complicated than that? Maybe he would change his story a lot that made him untrustworthy and they got sick of it? Maybe he couldn't process the whole thing at the time and didn't know how to express that at the time, so he ended up being dishonest with them? I don't know.
Me: Either way, it was a very traumatic event in his life that while he was ultimately responsible, it wasn't exactly something he could control. To add on top of that, when you're traumatized, you're that much more likely to believe in far-fetched, cult-esque theories, such as a magical stone that could give you powers. And the narcissism that Pterano displayed throughout the film was most-likely a trauma response. But that's for another essay on another day.
I actually do agree with Superman purists about one thing: The next film should take inspiration from the work of Grant Morrison.
Give us a Superman who is an avowed social advocate. Who stands in defiance against the wealthy of Metropolis and makes sure they don’t escape justice. A Superman who is unafraid to threaten people when he has to. Who is a divisive figure among people and hated by the elite establishment. Who can be absolutely terrifying when angered.
I’ll take any day over a Superman who is supposed to just smile all the time which our culture bizarrely seems to think is what constitutes hope and idealism.
