infinity train is a really good show for a lot of reasons but I especially love the gut punch that is the scene from book 3 where Simon asks Grace “why did you save me?” And Grace just goes “I don’t know”. Like it’s sooo obvious he wanted her to say something like “because I care” “because you’re my friend” or “because I love you!” but after her epiphany in her tape Grace has finally realized that like… she can care about him but not make him her responsibility. She realized that there really WASNT a reason she was continuing to stick by him other than their shared trauma and the fact that they just knew each other for so long. Their friendship being founded on mutual hatred of things rather than shared interests and care for each other made it so easy to topple over once they were put under any strain. it’s sooooo. They’re so.
