First read for September ✨🐉
The last few hyped books I've read have been disappointing so I'm switching to Whichbook for a bit to diversify my reading.
Started Chouette by Claire Oshetsky and it's just the kind of strange and lovely book I've been wanting to read 🦉
Got my paperback copy of That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon!
I'm excited to reread this one since it was such a good time the first time around.
Plus the new cover is absolutely gorgeous 🖤✨ I am loving that monster romances are bringing back the classic oil painting style covers.
July was A Month™. I hit my first big reading slump of the year due to the fact that my body is crumbling from not being able to handle the heat on top of an endo flareup so let's hope August is better.
Summary: Zachary Ying never had many opportunities to learn about his Chinese heritage. His single mom was busy enough making sure they got by, and his schools never taught anything except Western …
Posted a review for my first book of the year! I loved this one so much 🐉🎮🌊
Working on picking my books for 2023 reading challenges and I am so very excited.
I want to start with The StoryGraph’s Genre Challenge and see how that goes.
My current bedtime read. I am still trying to get through part 1(!) of The Lightning Thief in Japanese. I am learning that the snappy dialogue and pop culture references turns into a lot (a LOT) of words when translated.
It's still an enjoyable read but I am halfway through the book and we're only just learning about the existence of Greek gods so I can see this being a book aimed at older children/adults since for a younger child it might feel pretty tedious. Especially since both the American cultural references and the Greek references have to be explained.
Hoping I can finish before the end of the month though!
I've been reading much fewer YA books for the most part because it made no sense to keep reading POVs that I didn't relate to when I'm not the target audience.
However, I've been noticing a trend of books that are written for adults but the characters sound and act very much like teenagers and the only "adult" part is that there's lots of sex. Which is fine but I swear there's more to adulthood and it's okay to put that in books.
