I think it's perfectly okay to follow someone back for a few days to figure out if the vibes or right or not and then deciding to bail. I understand it doesn't feel good to have this done (boy, do I understand), but sometimes people's rules will have me going ... I don't... think this is going to work, but maybe....

and then looking around for a few days before you realize, nah. And softblocking/hardblocking, depending on your preferences.

Someone followed me the other day, and things in their rules made me think we were on completely different wavelengths -- and there wasn't anything wrong with them, they just had DNIs that included ships I ship (even if I don't write any of the muses involved), or like similar ships and also stated several times they did not like smut, writing it or seeing it on the dash, I was like

I feel like this person will be really uncomfortable with me

but I followed for a few days and then saw some things where I was like. This person should be very uncomfortable with me. so I softblocked them

and also they said they had things in their drafts from 2022 and homies like take your time but also if you're following someone like that and you want to actually write, the likeliness of that going anywhere is unlikely.

I have no ill will or bad feelings towards them, and I wish them the best, but I am also like. at a point with myself where I'm real honest with what I want from tumblr, mutuals, and writing and if someone doesn't seem like a good fit for that, I'm not going to make them uncomfortable or frustrate myself.
