“Oh, no I didn’t get this from anyone ‘special’. Do you know those old ladies who go around restaurants or public places like this one, handing you roses and they try to take like ten bucks for the one rose they gave you?” She laughed, shaking her head.  “That’s how I got it. I felt bad for saying no and giving it back to her, so I bought it. I know, I’m a sucker. Don’t laugh at me. So if you want to get a rose for someone, I’m sure she’s still around here somewhere, going between the stalls. It does smell nice though, even if I’m not a flowers type of girl.”

Due to it being her birthday, Kyra was doing the most, wearing a tight cocktail mini dress to the dinner at town hall. Even if she had been living here for the last five years, the whole town getting together and celebrating Valentines day felt odd to her. Back in New York she had lived in the same building for years and had not met even one of her neighbors. Everyone kept to themselves. That wasn’t really a thing in Charming.  “Are we still on for going to Rendezvous after this dinner? I need to have some actual fun on my birthday, so you can’t say no.”

❝ No, ❞ Vidia sighed, barely suppressing the upwards glance of her eyes. ❝ I didn’t see where they went. I’m a fairy not a damned owl. ❞ Listing off the first night vision possessing nocturnal animal that sprang to mind in a deadpan tone, Vidia didn't see why people were worried. Marie had LITERALLY just said this was a murder mystery party. It didn't take much of a thought process to link the theme with the dramatic disappearances.

Emily scoffed when she reread the text Gunner had sent her about her starting to fight. She hadn’t even had her first fight yet, so she had no idea how he even found out about it or who told him. Who was he to tell her what she could and couldn’t do? It was her life and she was an adult. And as he reminded her, he didn’t consider them friends so why should she listen to his advice? Why did he even bother saying anything at all? Seeing him near one of the stalls she walked over to him, calling out his name so that he’d turn around, arms crossed as she looked at him. It didn’t take much to figure out that she was pissed off. “You know, you can’t stop me from fighting if that’s what I want to do.”
